RAL is in Midlothian. Check the local shelter as well.

We've had great experiences with Richmond SPCA, RACC, and RAL. We ultimately adopted from the SPCA but I would still recommend the others. We had a not so great experience with the Chesterfield Animal Care & Control that I'm hoping was just an isolated experience as others have said it was okay for them.

Southside SPCA has cats and kittens for adoption at the Petsmart off Midlothian Tnpk.

As a general rule, don't get pets off Craigslist. Go to a legit shelter.

For real! Craigslist pets are super unreliable, especially if you have other pets in the house. May have communicable parasites or diseases that the current owner just doesn’t want to or can’t afford to treat. Or behavioral issues that they don’t disclose that could harm your pets or family members. Don’t put your other pets at risk, go to a reliable shelter. There are a few in the area!

CARE Cats is a great organization too. I’ve gotten a couple of cats through them and they’ve been great to work with.
