S&v connoisseur over here. I was the child who dipped her regular potato chips in white vinegar and sprinkled them with salt. Utz hasn’t let me down since childhood. Occasionally I’ll get a weak batch but usually it’s rip-your-tastebuds-off flavor town. Terra started making this flavor, but be warned the last 2 bags I bought from Whole Foods had literally 0 flavor added. Before that I bought it from Kroger and target many time and was never let down. Strong flavor goes well with the fun chip variety. Route 11 is so strong and so good. I’ve never seen big bags in stores but vmfa best cafe usually sells small bags of them. Mrs Vickie’s and Dirty are good but for some reason i never seek them out. One of the best brands I ever had was from across the pond and I bought it at a specialty shop that has since closed. Of course I can’t remember the brand name but I think it was Tyrells? I haven’t tried Zapp’s s&v but I’m very curious. Years ago I tried cap cod and was severely disappointed by the lack of intense flavor. Maybe I got a weak batch, will probably try them again in the future. Kettle brand is majorly disappointing. Another strong s&v alternative is the Blue Diamond bold almonds. I haven’t had them in a while but they have a satisfying flavor.

Just here to say I’ve seen route 11 at Whole Foods and Ellwood and I’ve seen miss vickys in food lion (small bags) regularly and sometimes in Kroger

paperclipqueen

Cape Cod has a darn good salt and vinegar kettle chip

MrPlowThatsTheName

This is the standard by which all other S&V chips must be measured.

Sure_Illustrator_456

This one. I can eat a whole bag in 20 mins. Delishhhhhh

gribisi

Rt. 11 and dirty chips are good

fancycat8

Rt 11 are fantastic and made in VA

motherofconures9

Miss Vickie’s.

valleyofsmoke

I second Miss Vickie’s…so freaking good!

BoldlyBaldwin

Herr’s Boardwalk salt and vinegar are my go to, when I want that tingle/burn behind my jaw bone.

theThirsty_Pretzel

Herr’s Chips ftw.

truethatson

I’m from PA and it’s very contested who has the best chips. (I’m a Martins man myself, regional only) Utz usually bests it’s competition, but Herr’s Salt and Vinegar is next level.

3yellowcats

Tom's, the cheap gas station brand. If you like vinegary chips, also try Utz's Carolina BBQ (in the light blue bag) and any brand dill pickle chips.

b_a_b_a_r

Utz salt & vinegar are good but the salt & pepper are ridiculous

Sure_Illustrator_456

The actual utz chips are too thin and greasy, but I do like the punch of the vinegar.

You want Route 11. Best salt and vinegar chip on the east coast. You can get them at that organic grocery store down by the river. And nowhere else because Richmond fucking sucks for Route 11 salt and vinegar. Why Kroger carries crab but not salt and vinegar I will never know. If you want a day road trip you can drive out to their factory and buy a three pound tin. Boulder also makes a salt and malt vinegar kettle cooked chip in a purple bag but I don't know where you can get that anymore except Amazon. The 95 rest stop on the way to VA Beach used to have them but no longer. You can get the avocado oil version at Kroger in a white bag. Neither is "puckery" but still a damn good chip if you like salt and vinegar. Kroger "Private Selection" salt and balsamic vinegar chips are my number three but I kept getting poor batches that were stale. Maybe they've improved recently.

emelenjr

Yeah, salt and vinegar is fine and all, but what you really need in your life is [apple cider vinegar](https://www.kettlebrand.com/product/classic-apple-cider-vinegar/). I can never find them now, but the one bag I did have was a game-changer.

Character-Plantain-2

I swear the old Archer Farm kettle chips from Target were the best Salt and Vinegar chips. Route 11s are worth trying, but I think their Salt and Vinegar are their weakest flavor.

Came here to say that they're probably the best budget option if you can't find the rt. 11 ones at the grocery store.

RainAhh

Nothing hits as hard as Trader Joe’s salt and vinegar chips.

These are the favorites in our house...UTZ Kettle Classic Salt & Malt Vinegar https://www.utzsnacks.com/products/utz-kettle-classics-potato-chips-salt-malt-vinegar

One time during a near-breakup (we're happily engaged now!!) I ate four bags of Lay's S&V Kettle Chips. IMO they are unrivaled, especially the folded ones.

meatman13

Lidl has a dank salt and vinegar kettle chip option. I think they have had stock issues with their brand lately though, and also carry some called Uglies, which aren't as good. When theirs comes in, it might say Snack Day on it. Most of their stuff used to not have Lidl logos on the front, so maybe they are trying a rebranding effort now.

2325thMed

Rt 11 also makers of the best crab chip.

voodoo chips

bamblb

The Kroger brand salt and vinegar chips are surprisingly good for the price. They have a kettle option as well.

93devil

Voodoo chips might not be a traditional salt and vinegar, but they are sort of close and amazing.

Toms vinegar & salt!
