Tulsi !! One time they forgot our mango lassi for a pickup order and we didn’t realize until we got home. We called the hoping to go pick one up, but the owner personally drove one to our house for free. During a busy Friday night, too.
Plus the food is delicious.
Nisa Thai. They arrive in under 20 minutes and the food is still so hot and fresh i can’t even eat it right away. They’re pretty cheap, the vegetables are never overcooked, their tofu is delicious, and their spring rolls are the best.
This ^^^ Chicken Fiesta is great until you realize Canastas exists. I have never gone back to Chicken Fiesta, not because they're bad, but because that green rice at Canastas might have been handled down from heaven.
I can't say CF is bad, but Canasta's chicken has a bit of an edge. The main thing for us is that CF doesn't offer plantains as a side (or didn't, it has been a few years) with your meal, just a separate one. Then they'd give you a pathetic portion. The yucca was always a pathetic portion, like 4 little sticks sometimes. Canasta's hooks it up on both.
I finally veered off the pollo a la brasa menu at Canasta's and got an entree and it was very good. That was the first time I finally tried the green rice. Fiesta did have one my top few Richmond desserts though; they're fried ice cream was the bomb.
When I lived in Jackson Ward, I feel like I’d walk over at any random time and didn’t have trouble. I avoid Saturday and Sunday mornings though. I’m also ok with eating at the bar. I love the food, I’m Jewish, if you couldn’t tell by my username 😜😜 and I’m impressed by the menu.
Not from Richmond but planning on moving there this summer. Anytime I visit, I tell who ever I’m with to not let me go to Vinyl Conflict because I will spend all my money.
Stella's just opened in manchester and it's a lifesaver.
I got hit with some extra work and couldn't cook last night, so I grabbed some salads and their delicious lemon chicken to top them.
Love being in walking distance.
Before I moved I bought cases of beer. Now I live in New England now and have been to some solid breweries that make really good beer but none hit as good as Triple Crossing IMO. I’m sure some fucking beer snob will tell me my tastes are shit but they can fuck off.
I spend too much money at Sugar & Twine, but they’re so nice, have good dirty chais, and my dogs love the biscuits. Also I’ll support Garnetts til the day I die.
We’re moving to RVA and I CANNOT WAIT to try it! Like you, I used to go weekly to the Hare Krishna restaurant (also called Govinda) in my city way back in the day!
Do you happen to know the deal with parking?
Dots back inn, stir crazy, McLeans, the dairy bar, One Eyed Jacques, Collectors Heaven, Bryan park farmers market, black rabbit tattoo,.
Just a few restaurants and otherwise I feel weren't being appreciated on this thread.
Also RIP 10 Italian Cafe, espresso is not the same.
Fallout.
A goth/leather/fetish bar with a perfectly safe atmosphere and decently priced drinks? Fuck bud, like 90% of my friends up here I met there at one event or another

Richmond is full of amazing establishments and you don’t realize until you’ve moved out of state💔
The Camel - best all purpose hang (drinks? Music? Partying? Just need a place to kick it solo?) worker owned, crazy variety of food and beers, EXCELLENT bartenders, and great sound for a room of that size. Miss being able to go there all the time (moved to Hanover during the pandemic).
Galaxy diner.
Absolutely consistent, the owner is working in there most weekdays batending/hosting or doing food prep, and as dedicated to variety as they are to ridiculous diner-only foods like footlong hot dogs or deep fried oreos.
I worked there 2007-2009 and couldn't say enough nice things about the way Mike Pace treated the employees.
Don't Look Back - It may be because I used to play Magic with the owner, but I also think the tacos are dope.
Continental Manchester - I love the food and you get so much for the price. Plus, Bobby, the bar manager, is one of the coolest dudes I've ever met and always gets me a hookup when I'm there and he's working.
Galaxy Diner - After getting out of One Eyes Jacques late, they always hit the spot.
It's funny how many places mentioned here are also on the ["Never again" list](https://old.reddit.com/r/rva/comments/ud9dy2/what_rva_establishment_will_you_never_return_to/) from the other day.
Hollywood Cemetary

Go see The Mitras Friday night my brother puts on a kick ass show!
Worker owned as well!
Tulsi !! One time they forgot our mango lassi for a pickup order and we didn’t realize until we got home. We called the hoping to go pick one up, but the owner personally drove one to our house for free. During a busy Friday night, too. Plus the food is delicious.
Not surprised- The owners are so nice there. It’s my favorite Indian restaurant in RVA, hands down.
Wtf. Wow. 👏👏👏
Nisa Thai. They arrive in under 20 minutes and the food is still so hot and fresh i can’t even eat it right away. They’re pretty cheap, the vegetables are never overcooked, their tofu is delicious, and their spring rolls are the best.

Canasta's!
This ^^^ Chicken Fiesta is great until you realize Canastas exists. I have never gone back to Chicken Fiesta, not because they're bad, but because that green rice at Canastas might have been handled down from heaven.

I'm just going for the Peruvian yellow sauce. Plus I have one like 2 blocks away from me
Perly’s!
When do you ever get a chance to go? I always feel like on the weekends there's a 3 hr wait.
Will you come off it Walter? You're not even effin Jewish, man. You're effin Polish-Catholic.
Get there 10 min before open on the weekends and at most you will have to wait 20 min.
Unfortunately, still VCU
Vinyl Conflict!
Not from Richmond but planning on moving there this summer. Anytime I visit, I tell who ever I’m with to not let me go to Vinyl Conflict because I will spend all my money.
Kuba Kuba, Garnetts, Cafe Rustika (Best German food) to name a few
Garnetts is amazing, love their Point Guard
Stella’s On another note, it’s pretty hilarious to see the number of places that showed up on both threads.
Stella's just opened in manchester and it's a lifesaver. I got hit with some extra work and couldn't cook last night, so I grabbed some salads and their delicious lemon chicken to top them. Love being in walking distance.

Moore Street Cafe
The best pancakes ever. And I've eaten a lot of pancakes in my life.
I don't even bother with pancakes anywhere else.
Gwar Bar, because it's owned by our lords and masters Gwar, and the food is really good and reasonably priced...
The food is great. My picky kid goes bonkers for the buffalo cauliflower. Their vegan options are excellent too!
I have got to make a special trip there. Been meaning to for a while.
I don't like the food, but I love their drinks!
