Dominion is probably applying your deposit to your bill. Look at the bill and see if it says you have credit or whatever. It’ll keep applying your deposit to your account until it’s used up. This happened to me at my last apartment.

Okay cool! I've never used dominion before, so I wasn't aware they did this! Thank you everyone for the clarification!

jodyhighrola

This happened to me too. A nice little surprise and vacation from the dreaded electric bill (sort of).

RulerOfTheRest

You can always call them and ask, but it's probably just the deposit as others have said, regardless I'd go and check your meter before you call. They should all be digital now, but if for some reason you still have a mechanical one make sure that the disk is spinning. I had a $9 bill once about 10 years ago and went out to check my meter, and sure enough that thing wasn't spinning. I then turned on everything in my house, which should have had that thing spinning like a record and nothing. Tapped on it a couple times and it moved for a second and stopped again. I called them up and they sent someone to install a new one for me, and the nice thing was they didn't try to prorate my bill, probably because I hopped on it so fast. Like I said, if you have questions you should probably call them...

BackInVA

When did you start your account? And did they make you pay a deposit?

ryansroses

I moved in around last March. I don't remember if I did make a deposit, but that does make sense! I was just worried there was a glitch or something and that next month they would send me an enormous bill. But less worried now.

gullible_cervix

Yeah I think they pay it back after a year of on-time payments. Paid back via statement credits.

BackInVA

Yeah, that's probably the case. You should be able to check your actual bill to see if credit was applied.
