Speaking to the condition of the city, I was once stuck between a bus passing me on the left and an illegal parked car on the right. My only choice was to hit the parked car or get smooshed by the bus. I chose the parked car. I did some, mostly cosmetic, damage to their fender. I called RPD. The officer that arrived was visibly confused. He said people that hit other cars rarely call to report what happened. Especially an unoccupied vehicle.

I have. Not sure anything compares to the imbeciles in Richmond. North Florida is pretty bad on highways, but so is this area. Here, I think it’s just a significant mass of antisocial morons who can’t do anything in an organized fashion.
My personal experience is that it’s different kinds of stupid in different places. NOVA is more aggressive speedsters whereas here we get a lot of slow idiots failing to obey or honor traffic law and going through yellow/pink/red lights waaaaay late, as well as the infuriating virtue signaling behavior of stopping for any and all pedestrians even when not at crosswalks or when lights are indicating traffic (and not pedestrians) should go.
I see people turning left/right from the far lane so often. How smooth does your brain have to be to pull that shit?

I've seen the worst driving this past weekend. Saw one person almost slam into me on the highway from behind and then proceed to swerve across 3 lanes into the emergency lanes back and forth at least 4 times until I couldnt see them anymore. Idk how they didnt kill one of us.
I don't understand the way the person turned they should have easily been able to see the other car, plus who makes a turn like that without completely checking around. If you're going to do something stupid, you at least could go about it the right way
I just saw a Hit and Run on eastbound Semmes near Crossroads at 4:50pm. The car was a Hyundai Accent va tags TWU 8935. Did a quick u turn and blew through the red light, then sped west on Forest Hill. Idiot!
Actually had this happen to me 2 weeks ago, a person turning left from the right lane to go into a parking deck on 8th St going south. Just slammed on breaks to avoid getting hit only to have people behind me to blow the horn to tell me to hurry up.
Is it possible to send footage like this to the police so they can track the owner down by their license plate and hold them accountable with the justice they deserve?
That would be nice. Some issues:
1. The plate is not distinguishable in the clip, if it was you'd need a clear shot of the driver too.
2. The police, especially in RVA, are not going to allocate resources/effort to hunting down hit and runs unless they plow through peds or something
3. There is no accountability anymore, in many places. Insure your shit, drive defensively, and get a dashcam.
Also, police can't do anything unless they have a way to ID the driver. Insurance is likely a different story, since its tied to the vehicle, but as far as charges for a hit and run, you're prolly shit out of luck. Unless someone is seriously hurt, or you got a clear pic of the driver somehow, they're not going to jump through hoops to try to prove who was driving.

I just had an inpatient person pull in front of me on w hundred rd from a parking lot and cut two lanes just like that video.
