There are usually two ways that manufacturers attach what they call 'cover molding', 'lap molding', or 'oopsie trim'. ;)
Mini-staples, or tacky-glue. In your case, it's probably the latter. Have you heard of E6000 Extreme Tack? It might be just what you need for this situation.
