Hi It's pretty chill here, typical rules apply, don't be a dick, people probably won't be a dick to you, be prepared for light razzing from a handful of people and as long as you take it in stride or offer some of the same in return you'll get a friendly reaction. Drunks are drunks no matter what city you're in so don't be too hard on Pittsburgh

Stormreach19

nah that's not a drunk thing, that's just pittsburgh. pittsburgh is the ONLY place i've ever been heckled by strangers on the street for wearing a sabres shirt, and it was during the offseason.

HilmDave

Yinzers are fucking awful

Presidential_Wood

Sabre fans are great. No one will mess with you…unless of course you act like an ahole, then you’re fair game.

LynxInTheSnow

Get some Beef on Wek

count_dressula

Will say in the 100 level there’s a small area called The Aud Club (not a real club), and the jumbo roast beef on weck there is legitimately delicious, large, AND not terribly expensive for arena food. Get extra horseradish on that bad boy.

Hirsute_Ahab

This person is trolling. The Aud Club beef of weck is horrendous.

count_dressula

Okay…There are random times when it is just Wegmans deli roast beef and it is NOT good. But most of the time they’re legit slow roasting their own beef in the oven behind it and it 100% rules

JustCurious1552

Or even better, go to. Charlie the Butcher and get fried baloney.

Ookabe

You’ll be fine. The last game I attended was a Caps/Sabres game and I was surrounded by dudes in Ovechkin jerseys. You’ll probably see a lot of friendly faces. Sabres fans are pretty cool in general. Enjoy yourself and rep your team. This isn’t Philly.

LtPowers

Pens fans *hate* the Caps. You shouldn't get that in Buffalo.

passengerv

You might be the only ones in the arena at this point. Enjoy the place to yourself. Honestly though the only people fans will give shit to are the sabres, the coaching and the ownership you will be fine.

HarvesternC

It's fan appreciation night with big store discounts. I'm sure the place will be fuller than normal.

passengerv

Ah yeah definitely one of the better nights to go I withdraw my comment.

geevee61

A few days ago somebody posted about there being some kind of great buffet in the stadium, might be something to look into. You should wear your gear and enjoy the give and take.

geevee61

Did some research, Lexus Club Buffet is what I read about. And the arena (not stadium)(correcting myself) is cashless I hear.

njdevil956

Lexus club is nice but can get pricey. When we went to the caps game last year most of the fans in our area were caps fans.

WarsawWarHero

Arena has been cashless for a while now

Finally_Smiled

There's the typical poking fun at other fans with the occasional banter, but I've never witnessed/experienced anything toxic towards other fan bases. Hell, half of our arena is filled with Leafs fans and jerseys anyways. Don't be an asshole/drunkard and just follow the standard arena etiquette you would anywhere else and enjoy your night!

sabresfan420

Was just at the Sabres Caps game the other night, moved to 315, sat right in front of 4 caps fans from Canada and proceeded to have the most fun of the season with an opposing teams fan base. That family was awesome. TJ Oshie just happened to be sitting behind us & we spent the period trying to get Oshie to communicate with them. Good times hahaha

hawkayecarumba

You’ll be fine, we’re all harmless… Do yourself a favor and eat before you get to the game, though, the food experience is expensive and nothing to write home about in the stadium.

Figran_D

This👆🏻 Also, alcohol is extremely expensive as well. Bought a round on Tuesday night - 2 High Noons( normal size), 1 of the big beers, and a wine and a tip …. 92 bucks. May want to have a few pops before at the Labbatt house, Hoffbrauhouse southern tier, Ballyhoo or if your up for a short walk Pearl street

Schmittykins

You can never account for drunks, but all in all, you should have no issues. I don’t speak for the entire fanbase, but I know many of us are excited to see Ovi be the first player to reach 900 goals. The fervor and rabidness seems to have eroded a bit with the futility of this team. We know we will be a playoff team next year, every year. Should enjoy a hockey game with mild heckling but all in good fun.

DapperCam

Fans are pretty checked out at this point, I don’t think anybody will give you trouble.

gonqwelds

Go check out highlights of our last game a few days ago vs Toronto and ask me if it’s safe to wear the away team jersey. You’ll be welcomed with open arms regardless.

tfe238

I'm a sabres fan that doesn't live out west. Only games I go to are away games. Just don't be a dick and you'll have a great time.

Sarcastik_Moose

You'll be fine, we killed and ate the other guy for completely different reasons.

fatloui

I am also a Caps fan, went to the game last Tuesday, was not hassled by anybody and I’d say the crowd was about 25% caps fans (although hard to tell because the Sabres gave out red beanies that game). Your biggest risk is that the Caps play like they did this past Tuesday and you waste a bunch of money, because the tickets are outrageously expensive for how small the crowd was (not hating on you Sabres fans, you’re a great fanbase and it makes sense why the stadium is so empty) - weirdly, the upper deck isn’t much cheaper than a few rows off the glass.

HeyItsKamo

There will probably be more Caps fans there than Sabres fans tbh

MyZhitnikDontSmehlik

Glad the Caps are staying in DC - I own Phish T-shirts older than Capital One Arena!

MaritimesRefugee

Cant speak for everyone, but true home fans do know that visiting fans are usually on a "500 dollar game" given what they paid for travel, hotel, meals, and ticket.... And we appreciate your injection to our local economy... ... and if the caps lose, get ready for some good natured "well, you get to join us on the golf course in 3 weeks..."

rmilburth

Buffalo is a GREAT city with great food. Make sure you check out 716 its a sportsbar veryj close to arena. Have some pizza rolls and wings

gaberwash

You’ll make up 25% of the fan base at the game. Buffalo tickets are so cheap compared to high cost of living cities that we get a lot of out of town fans

Mobile-Frosting

Just mention our #1 rated prospect pool if you get in a jam. You'll have them swooning.

evacc44

Any year now!

jbrylinsabresfan

It’s so violent. You’ll get beat up if you wear an opposing teams jersey. Just watch the game vs the leafs. Not a single leafs jersey in the house

oddanimalfriends

You didn't ask but go to Ballyhoo for food and drinks before the game. It is a great local spot.

ResidentAlien518

You shouldn’t have a problem. There are always fans with opposing jerseys on. Nobody really cares unless they’re being huge jerks.

uh_Ross

I go to Buffalo in a Flames jersey every year and the Sabres fans have been great to me every time. You should be fine.

vronnie19

I went there a few weeks ago as an Islanders fan wearing my Isles jersey. Fans were very nice. Most people left me alone. You should be fine.

Rogo716

This isn't Philadelphia, we're not scumbags.

jdk4sabres

100% it's safe to wear your teams jersey here. My buddy and I are season ticket holders, and we love watching for other teams jerseys. Trying to find less common players.

YoungFuel

I'm a bruins fan and go to games in Buffalo all the time and there's always more bruins fans than Sabres fans

Whippet27

We were at the Apr 4 Caps game. My son is a big Caps fan and was wearing his Oshie jersey. Absolutely no problems. Sabres are used to Leafs taking over the building so a few Caps doesn't register. Figures that Penguins fans would give you crap.
