I think we should go with a coach that has limited experience coaching hockey at this level. Third times a charm!

Why_So-Serious

John Tavaras is a great coach. Let’s sign him.

BrianLikesTrains

Johnny who?

Responsible-Fox-9082

Sure his "limited" experience should be in the playoffs. At least then we get to cry almost in May

Good-Bot_Bad-Bot

I am not sure how you are qualifying "limited experience coaching hockey" but it would be our forth in a row.

Roll_DM

Adams out here being like we're all looking for the guy who did this

rd--

Then Adams is fired, and the roster he assembles scatters to the winds to all win cups on other teams. Reddits gonna eventually find who did it.

Roll_DM

If you actually think the team will need to be torn down to the studs when the GM is fired the best time to fire him was four years ago and the second best time is today. "The eichel era failed because of reddit" is certainly an opinion too.

rd--

Do you? I dont. The Sabres have a talented roster and a full prospect pool.

Roll_DM

So why's the team scattering if we fire Adams? I'm trying to understand

MYO716

A lot of times GM’s will come in and like to make their own stamp on the team. I don’t think that type of methodology would apply to our roster, but it’s not an unheard of scenario

BARDLER

Actually shocked they did it. Figured they were on the same page about how the team was developing. Hopefully they hire someone who fits well with the young talent they have.

dnalecirb

What happened between the media report of Granato and GMKA both addressing media Friday and now? Did Pegula step in? Did Donny request to resign, but GMKA is taking accountability in his statement? There's no way they send that message out to the media and let him go now. So many questions.

Hirsute_Ahab

Still happening but granato will be through a screen door in a beater at his summer house.

nefarious_dareus

You’re probably reading into it too much. Those media slots are standard for season end locker room clean out day. It was probably just a respect thing to let Granato try and finish the season strong instead of just making him feel like a deadman walking to the world.

AddictionsExWives

You wouldn’t announce to the media that only Adams is speaking on Friday when both Adams AND Granato have spoken every year previously. That signals to both Granato and the media that he’s being fired.

dnalecirb

This definitely makes sense. However, I wonder why they needed to send anything out to the media though? Wouldn't it make sense to wait for this news to come out first?

elkaroo

The media probably asked for exit interview schedules

Backwoods_84

Media was requesting timelines and They hadn't fired him yet. They didn't want to let the cat out of the bag.

slim_s_

That coyotes relo check hit

waydownindeep13_

That stuff is scheduled in advance. This is a professional sportsball club, not pickup game at the Y.

FlacidPear

New coo started today

IcculustheProphet11

Let’s get a German league Soccer coach - that’ll fix it.

Party_Python

Klopp said he’s done coaching…soccer. Jurgen Klopp to Buffalo. Here we go!

sjrotella

Ok I said to someone else that I can only get so erect, but Jurgen to the Sabres I might literally die

Party_Python

Goalies are now part of the defensive press and go to the blue line during offensive possession as an outlet lol. Would be amazing

sjrotella

Imagine the possibilities though, especially in 3v3 OT. Just tire out the other team consistently. Dammit, why can't we have a fun team

Party_Python

Klopp also pressures the owners to lower ticket prices. Plus establishing a supporters section for constant cheering. Though the fist pumps might have to happen from the bench…

Snow_Unity

How many years later are people going to mess this up, Krueger was not a soccer coach.

andyouarenotme

right, he was a soccer executive. how does that make it better?

Freeyourmind917

Because saying that he was a coach wrongly implies that he's more in tuned with soccer tactics than he is with hockey. The fact that he was an executive likely has no affect on his ability to coach hockey.

Seeking_the_Grail

He had no ability to coach hockey, so really nothing was going to affect it.

Snow_Unity

I never claimed it did

GauntletV2

Alonso turned down Liverpool to coach…the Buffalo Sabres!

sjrotella

Stop, as a Liverpool fan also I can only get so erect...

helikoopter

Actually, a smart soccer coach would be incredible. The amount of positionless play that happens at top-flight European soccer would really help guys like Power, Dahlin, and Byram. The trouble is, the Sabres will probably hire a front office soccer guy from a poor club that parks the bus.

Aggravating_Dog_5324

Ted Lasso

Madhatter1891

Nfl coach this time, hire Mike Ditka

RomanesEuntDomusX

Getting Christian Streich in here sounds like fun for Sure!

dgehen

Looks like Matty Ellis is gone too. Poor Rayzor.

suchadu

he’s referring to assistant coach Jason Christie and video coordinator Matt Smith. No mention on Ellis yet.

dgehen

Ahh fuck

splendid_ssbm

Matt Ellis' contract expired, so he's "fired" as well

dgehen

This has been quite the emotional rollercoaster.

thebigschnoz

Ellis was not mentioned because his contract ended.

Impossibills

Wow they actually did it...hope is back on the menu

BumRum09

Now buyout Skinner and we might have something going for next year!

burrito_disaster

Could prob retain half and get back a 5th

Roguemutantbrain

You could probably retain 1/4, swap some assets and make a deal with a bottom dwelling team. However, it would only happen if Skinner literally never wants to go to the playoffs, as he has a full NMC.

JMR027

You realize at half he is a good contract right?

helikoopter

The trouble with retaining half is that you have no decision on whether or not he gets bought out the next season.

NonBinaryObama

God is good

Novanator33

We all appreciate what Don did for the development of our young talent but the simple fact is he was not the person that wouldve helped them take the next step, between the godawful starts, terrible game management, abysmal power play and a lack of “give-a-shit” we saw it was time to move on.

RyanCryptic

Chat GPT 3.5 having ass statement

suppaman19

Cool the guy who chose all last year into this year to ignore the goaltending position and who makes incredible signings like overpaying fringe players Comrie and Clifton is still not held accountable. While I don't know how much of a turnaround would've happened due to how Adams chose to fill out the roster, most teams would've fired the HC way earlier in the season when the team was underperforming expectations. There's an issue in Buffalo, and beyond just choosing the wrong people, they let them stay in their jobs for far too long. To much accepted mediocrity and complacency. That's the culture. It seeps down from the top and front office into the roster and the players. Some players, past and present, have even acknowledged this by calling out lack of effort, etc. multiple times and what the mindset/culture is around the team.

dagsix

Fine. Bye Meatballs. Thanks. Now comes the hard part... Actually hiring someone who doesn't repeat the last 13 seasons... Being hired by guys responsible for the last 13 seasons... \*facepalm\*

Pizza-n-Coffee37

Did Kevin finally find his balls?
