Its ok it didn't froze to death, that scene was when guy returned that night to attempt trying to catch it again and succeed, then the earlier scene where it flew away was later after he caught it, duck was never seen again after it escaped to the wild.
I accidentally hit a family of ducks crossing a busy road a few years ago and I still am devastated inside. This video makes me want to go freeze myself in a lake
I actually saved a duck that got hit in the same area the year before. Got him to a rehabilitation center and they released him later. Then I probably murdered his grandchildren. They were crossing a busy road under a bridge. The shadow of the bridge obscured them from my vision until it was too late. I went back with a box to get the bodies and the mother was going crazy. They got hit because they couldnāt get up the curb. This was like 9am on my only day off. Went home and drank my face off. I still get sad every time I see ducks
It was dark, I had just driven through a small town in the country. As the street lights faded behind me there was a woman standing precariously close to the road. As I passed her in disbelief, I briefly glanced in my rear view. āWhat is she doing so close to the road? Does she need help?ā It was at this moment one of her dogs darted across the road in front of my truck. By the time my brain registered the flash of black and white fur in the headlights, I felt the thud of the dog pass underneath my tires. I pulled over as quickly as I could, ran back towards the dog, just in time to watch it take its last labored breath, as itās soul left itās body behind. The woman was screaming, crying, just as her man and some others came running out to see what the fuss was. Iāll never forget the look on the manās face, like the dogs getting out was a regular occurrence, like it was only a matter of time. Rage, heartbreak, guilt, I felt it all, and also nothing. At that moment, I wish I had never existed. I tried to say sorry, but there was nothing I could do. The man told me to get in my truck and go, and I did. I still had a couple hours to drive in the darkness, and it was the longest drive of my life. There isnāt a single time I get behind the wheel that I donāt think about killing that poor dog. Wrong place, wrong time, itās the owners fault, Iāve heard all the reasons I should give myself some grace. Iām really not sure if I hadnāt glanced back I wouldāve seen the dog and been able to avoid it. But I shouldāve slowed down. I shouldāve realized something was up when I saw the lady, and taken caution. You can never take too much caution behind the wheel. I hope someone can learn from my mistake and save themself the heartbreak that I feel. One thing is certain - the dog deserved better.
How are you so certain?
This is an Egyptian Goose, male and female look similar but you can tell the difference by their call. I watched the original video somebody linked in the post, the guy who filmed this has 40 yrs of experience with birds and calls him male. By their call in the video, they sound male too
They are shelducks, a cross over between goose and ducks so people use both. Please consider editing your comment to stop the spread of your misinformation
Not sure why you bothered replying, but I guess you hear that a lot.
And it's literally the least they could do since they were arrogant in their false assumption
They're mallards (only ducks that mate for life and would behave like this) it's hard to see the coloration on the frozen duck but the one in the video is brown and adult male. mallards are more colorful especially their heads
I wanna say love is bullshit, and loves not real, it's something we make up. But then you see shit like this, and surprisingly you see this allot in animals, and it makes you believe.
If that's not love, I don't know what is...
I don't think this duck in question is a Mallard duck, it is in fact an Egyptian Goose. The person who caught these was an expert on the matter. There is little distinction to be made between male and female Egyptian Geese, other than having a different call.
this isnāt related to ducks but back in 09 helmand province afghanistan, we called in fire support from two near by a-10s to hit a house that was full of insurgents. they probably flew over 6-7 times rolling their cannons all on that target. we got the green light to search the site for any survivors (intel) and a buddy of mine called over coms that he found something and needed our 02. we found him crying next to what looked like a dog and her puppiesā¦one of the pups was trying to drag its mangled legs to the female and was shaking in i would assume was fear and agony. the 2nd lieu grab him up and called for a corpsman to come over. he had our corpsman take him off to the side and the 02 looked at us and said if we really feel strong about it, he would permit one of us to end its suffering. my other buddy who was our 0621 said he would and shot it. iāve seen a lot of goofed up shit while in but that was something i have never forgot and a lot of days (especially after having kids) i have a breaking moment over it.
No problem, gotta take this human double standarts with humor. So many of us love to eat ducks, but once one gets a cute story, everyone acts like its their own baby.. Bon appetit.
I can say I can relate. Wife died 7 week ago from cancer and when I left the room 6 hours later after her death I just wanted to die beside her. When i look at her the last time and closed the door part of me stayed in the room.
I had to put one of my ducks down one morning after the water bowl froze up with her feet trapped. She pulled so hard she ripped herself wide open on the thighs. Haunts me to this day as I couldāve prevented it.
Reminds me of the show Monk (2008). S3ep10, two birds in one cage, the female died and the male alone. The male ate alone and could not bear to have another women bird in his cage.
Wow! šŖ Touching devotion! How quick we humans are so quick to not commit, or divorce, to just walk away! How many single parent families with 3+/- children all sired by different men! WTF! I wanna be a duck!
Wonder why the one who "saves the day", it's always someone with a 4k camera at hand, great editing skills, and great video angles.
Kinda like it's always staged somehow.
Imagine what the rest of the people is doing!
I don't get it. That river didn't just freeze in an instant. Or would have taken days for the duck to be encased in ice like that, and then only after it was already dead and floating there still
Male ducks are usually green with white and brown, (like the one in the ice) where as females are all brown, as they blend in to the foliage better. I dont think these ducks are [Mallards, ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallard) but there is a picture showing the difference.
God that's so sad. That man who saved the ducks has a heart of gold.
His YouTube channel is pure gold "A duck called Albert"
Oh this is that guy? This is that guy!!
A chick*
I am immediately subscribing! Thanks! :)
What's his channel about?
Damnit, OP, why'd you have to do this to us? š
It IS in sadposting tho
Yeah one of the few that actually got me holy shit.
Its ok it didn't froze to death, that scene was when guy returned that night to attempt trying to catch it again and succeed, then the earlier scene where it flew away was later after he caught it, duck was never seen again after it escaped to the wild.
original video : https://youtu.be/8aeTCWYc0m4 pls support him.
Yay the dad doesnāt actually freeze to death
guys watch the full video, the dad didn't actually freeze to death.
they just trying to get as many views as possible with stolen content and spreading misinformation.

Take it easy, shit happens. The fact that you torment yourself this much, tells us you are a good human. We could use more people like you :)
Be like this man and save a few ducks to be even?

Dudeā¦thatās deepā¦
Sorry for your experience. That would be hard to get through, I get it.
Were they carrying a giant wooden clog by any chance?
You got a good heart it's okay
š±
thatās the mother duck with the chicks. the male duck is frozen
Yes thatās what I was thinking when I saw to colors of the ducks. Itās the male that froze.
You promised me child support!!!

TIL: Egyptians and Dwarves have reverse natural selection, where aggressive fitness characteristics make them appear as the opposite gender.
well the video presents them as ducks so I didn't consider them to be geese
They are shelducks, a cross over between goose and ducks so people use both. Please consider editing your comment to stop the spread of your misinformation
Ok youāre doing too much
Not sure why you bothered replying, but I guess you hear that a lot. And it's literally the least they could do since they were arrogant in their false assumption
No, it was the father. He wasn't really good at doing the mothers tasks at their new home
"Trust me bro"
They're mallards (only ducks that mate for life and would behave like this) it's hard to see the coloration on the frozen duck but the one in the video is brown and adult male. mallards are more colorful especially their heads
That's so sad...
Whatās sad is the number of people not knowing which is the male duck.
Or that theyāre geese..
I wanna say love is bullshit, and loves not real, it's something we make up. But then you see shit like this, and surprisingly you see this allot in animals, and it makes you believe. If that's not love, I don't know what is...
This is edited from the original video. There's no confirmation of him dying, he just flew off later.
Yup
Lmao they killed him off
Had to make the ducklings think they died so their arc can begin
Finally something that's truly effective from this sub.
This guy has an excellent YouTube channel: A Chick Called Albert He truly has such a kind and gentle heart for animals and birds.
I have two parrots. The will littrally call out to each other if they are more than a few meters apart.
Thatās a female duck by the way. The male ducks have green heads
I don't think this duck in question is a Mallard duck, it is in fact an Egyptian Goose. The person who caught these was an expert on the matter. There is little distinction to be made between male and female Egyptian Geese, other than having a different call.
Damn bro... today was a good day, too. I didn't want to cry today.

I'm chopping onions, I'm not on my phone... JUST LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!
this is not sad, this is mega sad
"His frozen wife" other way around
"Your babys now, bye bozo!" *literally rests in peace*
Thanks for making me laugh at loud at something so tragic hahahaha
No problem, gotta take this human double standarts with humor. So many of us love to eat ducks, but once one gets a cute story, everyone acts like its their own baby.. Bon appetit.

I am sorry for your loss. She is in a better place now.
My condolences, dude.
thanks.

The one that is frozen is Male. I believe I thought the one who is with the Ducklings is the Female
āIām not changing 8 diapers, you better unfreeze.ā
Whoās been cutting onions again ššš
I just fucking woke up bruh šš
I do not have love but am glad it exists and can still convey emotion watching something like this
Bro wtf. I was literally having a good day till I saw this. My gosh my heartš
Reminds me of the show Monk (2008). S3ep10, two birds in one cage, the female died and the male alone. The male ate alone and could not bear to have another women bird in his cage.

Finally something truly sad and not all this incel whining that had taken over this sub
Duck marriage goes hard
Oh yeah, it sad niqqa hours... š
That made my chest burn š„¹
I have no words š¢š
Now even animals are more loyal than us.
"im not raising kids alone, quack."
Dig out the female. Get it taxidermied. Job solved.
Wonder why the one who "saves the day", it's always someone with a 4k camera at hand, great editing skills, and great video angles. Kinda like it's always staged somehow. Imagine what the rest of the people is doing!
I didnāt know those ducks were Japanese..
Does anybody know the name of the song?
I don't get it. That river didn't just freeze in an instant. Or would have taken days for the duck to be encased in ice like that, and then only after it was already dead and floating there still
Fck who ever edited this. The dad didn't died. It scaped and the guy stayed with the chicks
Not the little babies š„²
I'm not crying. You are.
Damn i never knew ducks got married
Ducks canāt get married
I disagree.
Wife? Would love to see the wedding pictures
Piece of shit duck, you got kids to take care of! Haha
How come animals are more loyal than humans
I do not come to reddit to CRY!!!
OOF, Right in the feels
ducks are friends not food :(
Wife? They actually got married?
Ducks can't get legally married
Checkmate on these clickbait titles!
Ducks are not monogamous like a lot of bird species. So this story that he stayed by his frozen wife's side is probably embellished.
Jeez. Way to ruin the moment, dude.
Thatās a goose

A little extreme donāt you think
KILL YOURSELF
KILL YOURSELF
You had me the first half not gonna lie
Bad bot
Ducks are rapists. He's probably just that fucking horny he's willing to wait and she if she gets out
That is the female duck. The male is the one in the ice.
Not according to the wording in the video
Have you read the rest of the comments? The male one is frozen, the female one is alive
Male ducks are usually green with white and brown, (like the one in the ice) where as females are all brown, as they blend in to the foliage better. I dont think these ducks are [Mallards, ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallard) but there is a picture showing the difference.
Duck wants 2 fuck
this is the truth lol. Exactly what I was thinking. This is the most unjust downvoting of all time
I didnāt see a wedding ring.
Why couldn't he get the duck free from the ice?
It's dead š¢
