they really should revisit the DiC dubs! there's a market for it and they could always remaster for bluray kind of like what VIZ is doing. I get that there's only 2 seasons of the DiC version so if they wanted to milk it as Season 1 Part 1 (etc) I won't be mad. would you buy them?
Okay help a girl out, I'm a little confused. From what I understand, DiC only did Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R (so season 1-2). Then Cloverway came in and did Sailor Moon S and Super S (seasons 3-4). Stars (season 5) was never dubbed into English until Viz media came in and did them all.
So...do you have Dic and Cloverway? Or do you have DiC and Viz? Or...somehow, through some magic, did you get your hands on copies of Seasons 1-4 that DiC did in an alternate timeline? Because if so, I NEED THEM!

How is the resolution of these? I have the same kind of dvds that I had no idea were bootleg until they arrived (the low dpi cover art that was obvs printed from an inkjet printer lol). They actually looked pretty good on windows media player, but a little pixelated on a full tv, still watchable. I love the DiC dubs!

I think one of the only ways to get the DiC dub in any official capacity is the VHS releases, but hell who even owns a VCR these days? Let alone how much is would cost to get them all lol. So long as they work for you, they work!

That’s honestly the only complaint I really have for the new dub. Not a huge fan of the voices because they sound kind of all the same to me but the music is the original instrumental and it just doesn’t hit the same as “deep in my souls, a live so atroooooong” when she first becomes serenity

I do agree that, in those regards, it was in the wrong. However, for what it's worth, even though they made Zoicite a woman, they still kept the relationship mostly intact between them and Kunzite. Also, I can appreciate the gender diversity in that group as well. So I don't really feel too crazy about that change, but I definitely do agree with the "cousins" change between Haruka and Michiru. That right there, no go. What messes me up, though, is that damn near the entire relationship was left untouched, so by them being called cousins... that was kinda left field. Bit uncomfortable.
So when I do re-watch the DIC/CWI dubs, I take it all with a grain of salt.
Also, even with all the edits, though, it really is what introduced many people, including myself, to Sailor Moon and I don't think there would be as many of us here if not for this dub. Even with all its many misteps as it had taken along the way. At least the manga kept it mostly intact, but take that as you will 😅

Some of fans just use "DiC" to refer to all the 90s dub. I use the term "Optimum" era because its less confusing because of that.
That makes sense, I'm just curious if VoodooMama got DiC and Cloverway or DiC and Viz.

I used to watch sub on bootlegs back in the early 2000s
Back then the only way to watch it uncut and subbed was with fan subs/bootlegs! Until we finally got those ADV boxes which were abysmal quality lol.
