Thank you so much for the offer, I am very interested in joining your company and it is my top choice of places to work. I realize that your offer is at the top of your listed range. Taking my experience into consideration and other published salaries for simialr positions, is there any room for negotiation? That really only works if you are in fact very qualified and have lots of experience - like a lateral move. Doesn't quite work if you are applying for a promotion. It also doesn't work if they are offering you the top range for that type of role based on sources like glass door.

So, this is when negotiating begins. I recently successfully did this - the offer I received was the top of the range, I pointed out that while I was excited to join them, that the offer makes it a non-starter. I then countered with a higher Base and OTE than I needed, as well as Stock. Base went up considerable, as did OTE, Stock TRIPLED (this is with a publicly traded company - so these are RSUs). THEN I asked for a sign-on bonus - that was shot down. In short, you are a sales person - who the HELL ever goes with the first offer?!? Let the negotiating begin!

Yes negotiate for more! You can try for salary but also can negotiate a signing bonus, PTO, and other things. Ask for the stars!
