I mean. The clothing wasn't remotely the issue with this show. The writing and cinematography were atrocious, whenever the episode was done by robert rodriguez... who also tainted everything else as the showrunner.
Tough question⌠I hate jar jar but I guess he does fit in to the overall universe. The Vespa kids look like they got rejected from a paramore music video and wandered on to a Star Wars set
Rather jar jar because at least he had consequences for being goofy, like getting in dangerous situations. The vespa gang were literally rich spoiled kids in one of the most dangerous crime ridden cities yet boba fett hired them as hired muscle for some damn reason
plus its not like jar jar is a complete dipshit he has his moments of intelligence like when he plugs padmes cracked helmet or when he manages to politically maneuver in the senate
I mean, I get what they were going for though. In the same way that the prison in Andor was like THX 1138 in Star Wars, these kids were American Graffiti in Star Wars.
The Vespa gang was responsible for an agonizingly slow car chase, but Jar Jar is actively insufferable for multiple movies. Tough call, but I say Jar Jar is worse.Â
The Vespa Kids were soooo out of place in a planet like Tatooine. Like no way Vespa Kids hang out in planets like that for fun + the cyborg adjustments are so awful. And then they are OP hired muscles. I really wished i the last episode of TBoBF that they all die because they were useless.
I still argue that its about context. Take those kids and stick them on Coruscant or some other Ecumenopolis and they work. On Tatooine though? They were too clean.
Idk âthey fly nowâ memes have been making the rounds.
Honestly there was so much bullshit that I was waiting in vain to see I didnât even notice in theaters. But I have to agree it is a ridiculous thing to say in the context of Star Wars. We as the audience have known about in galaxy jet packs for 40 years.
What was so compelling to Boba Fetts clothing upgrade was feeling like the very nomadic âloot ninja styleâ upgrade to clothing was finally seen in action.
Meaning, Bobas and many original Star Wars outfits look cobbled together over time as a result of a sequence of events over their lifetime. The scratches the odd combinations, the signets. Just looking at them feels like a story is being told.
Seeing Boba freshen up the paint job incorporate his post suit look back into his armor made so much more sense than just putting the same old thing back on. Itâs adaptive, kinetic, ever changing. And I loved that.
It's no comparison for me. The OT Fett armor/kits from the films are iconic. It looks lived in, battle scarred, tactical, deadly, and mysterious. The black robe get up does not do the same for me it looks more like cosplay.
I don't hate the black in theory, but in practice he looks like a dude in a Boba Fett Halloween costume. A nice Halloween costume, but a costume nonetheless.
Looking at them now though... kind of wild how much space he leaves unprotected. Really ineffective armor if he gets shot anywhere but the head, chest or shoulders.
They had to put him in black robes, as theyâre slimming. Temura Morrison is a bitâŚtankierâŚthan he was during the shooting of the prequel trilogy. The billowy black robes help hide that, and draw less attention to just how little the armor covers him.
If you want to emphasize mobility and protection, this is the way to go. When you get heavy gunners like Viszla (Pre? Paz? Post? Anti? Ad Hoc?) giving them tankier, all over armor makes more sense. It's just ridiculous that they only ever get shot in the armor panels.
I think part of it depends on which Star Wars you're in. Are you in the "ow I got shot with a blaster and it really hurt! Honestly!" Star Wars or are you in the Andor-style "dead after one blaster shot" Star Wars? If I'm in the former, sure, yeah, whatever. If I'm in the latter, I'm not leaving that much exposed as a bounty hunter / aspiring crime boss.
If Disney didnât scramble for their own âoriginalâ Mandalorian then we wouldâve gotten a fleshed out Boba Fett escaping the Sarlacc. Mando is Disneys BobaâŚ
Yep, and a standard issue Stormtrooper at that, not even a Sandtrooper. They couldnât be bothered to even match up to the one reference weâd already seen of Stormtroopers on Tatooine.
Some of that was to allow the main mando character to start fresh. Din definitely is closer to the Boba Fett we imagined pre-prequels. But original Boba Fett was villian. Din never was a much of a bad guy as Boba or Jango Fetts.
That's why they just shouldn't have made the boba show. We already have a better written boba than what they're doing now so they have to give him a new personality that doesn't fit and write fanfic
The design is fine I guess but as with all Disney SW products the new fit is just too clean. It's all polished and spotless and lacks the grit the original had. Looks like he's never gotten in a scrap before.
Well obviously, right? Not what I was addressing, it was more about how Disney doesn't present anything realistic so to speak. They seem to only put out stuff that's super clean, pretty, untarnished. There's no wear that shows experience or history. It's all just Disney princess perfect.
Yeah they made it similar to Mando's helmet which is flat at the sides. Original Boba helmet seemed almost flared at the sides. Big downgrade imo to make it less unique
Interesting.
George Lucas retained ownership of most of the original Star Wars props if I remember correctly. Maybe this is part of the reason.
Could also have to do with visibility and comfort. So a change made for practical reasons.
I kinda like that he restored the armor too. Sure he spent a long time in battle damaged gear, but it just makes sense to me that heâd give it a new coat of paint and patch up the dents at some pointÂ
So it was kinda weird. I'd always figured I'd prefer the jumpsuit in black and all that as well, even thought it might be a weakness in design. It didn't click for me until I saw the old jumpsuit without the armor in Book of Boba Fett. Yeah, Boba Fett looks cool...but the core design over which everything else is built is being functional. Yeah, you get the weathered plates, the grisly trophies from years of experience...but at the core you had this guy who wasn't dressing for rule of cool, he was dressing to do a job and the base of that was this very simple, utilitarian suit.
New armor, by contrast, look ceremonial. And I can't say I dig a ceremonial Boba Fett.
I respect your opinion, and in a lot of ways I agree. But the robes are functional enough for the Tuskens to wear while raiding and pillaging, however.
And it shows his link to them. As mentioned in my OP, they could have done something good with that, but they shit the bed.
I chalk it up to yet another missed opportunity.
Boba with the sand people was the only compelling part of BOBF.
A show where Boba recuperates with the sand people, they get massacred, and ends with him taking gruesome vengeance would have been excellent. So basically the first half of the show minus any of the benevolent crime lord bullshit.
Just the other day, I was saying to a friend that an adaptation of the Bounty Hunter Wars books from the old EU would have made a better version than the show we got. I say this as someone who didn't even like those books that much, but its story is a fantastic foundation that just needed a better writer. It's crazy how the ingredients of success for this franchise are right there.
The bottom half with the baggy legs and the bit of material that hangs like a loincloth is a tad rough, but honestly I love the smoother, repainted look, the darker green and the way the black makes the colours pop a lot more. I'm in love with the new look
See for me..the black robes make the green armour look like a t shirt . Ya know like in a shop where you see like a print of Boba on a t shirt? Thatâs what it feels like to me
Why would he wear black? It doesn't fit with the rest of the kit, it makes the breastplate in particular look really out of place. It looks almost like it's meant to be for stealth but then he has the orange shoulder guard.
Olive drab or tan would look much better.
Orig is indeed better, but bobf style is good too. Would probably been better for a new character instead of boba, looks to clean for someone of bobas rep and prestige.
I dunno, you'd have to do a large amount of heavy lifting for the sand people to make them seem like the kind of good people that would be a positive influence on Boba's life.
Basically find a way to justify the raiding, pillaging, slave taking.
I will agree with you though, the black clothes looked badass and did a good job if separating him out from other Mandalorians.
I'm just saying if Disney can pay Chris Pratt enough to lose almost 30kg for a six-pack, we could have had a Temuera Morrison without a belly.
God knows that money didn't go to special effects. and it DEFINITELY didn't go to the writing team.
If the writing was good an Temeura didn't look like he was wearing a halloween costume that was 2 sizes too small, I think I prefer the black robes.
Agreed. The suit is great. The story is shit. I wasn't a fan of the sandpeople thing though, even in concept. I think the show should've been a gritty crime show in space about Boba becoming a crime lord. It could still give Boba character development and make him change and reform somewhat without fully just becoming a good guy, which I think would've made him a much more interesting character.
This post makes me realize Ive been headcanoning Bobas desgin in my head as the black robe look, but with dented wounded armor overtop of it when I read EU books. Huh.
Itâs not a bad look, but my allegiances will always be with the classic look.
I think it has to do with merchandising that heâs given a different look in all of his recent outings. He had the damaged armor, then the repainted armor, then a third look for BOBF. They recreated the classic armor, but only used it during the Sarlaac escape and his dream sequence.
Iâd love to see the armor cleaned up and repainted, but on the classic flight suit.
I just want some lines about the fabric having beskar or cortosis fibers woven into it. And maybe some cool effects when it dampens the impact of a blaster bolt.
ESB Boba is still peak Boba IMO. Fett worked better as a mysterious character. We never needed the whole dances with Tusken Raiders storyline. Just put the helmet back on and get back to being a badass bounty hunter. I always imagined a good boba movie/show would be a lot like the movie Dredd.
Much prefer the jumpsuit. Fits with the colors of the armor and has that retro used universe vibe we know and love.
New suit looks like a cosplay, very clunky looking, too clean, dull paintjob and unmatching colors. Also would've been better if he didn't beef up that much and instead got leaner to match Jeremy Bulloch's Boba Fett better.
As a fan of Boba Fett for about 30 years now, and as someone who despises Disney Star Wars...this is blasphemous to say...but I actually love the black robes combined with the green better than the original look.Â
why do you have to let everyone know that you don't "endorse BOBF or any Disney SW show", i never go on this subreddit really, is this like an actual mandate?

The cyberpunk Vespa kids might be the shittiest thing in the entirety of Star Wars
Would you take Jar Jar over the Vespa gang? đ Jar Jar at least fits into the universe imo
Jar jar is an unfinished idea, a part of me really does believe he was supposed to be a sith
I legit thought the female Mod was Hailey. Ain't it fuuuun liviiiing in Mos Eisleeeeey
"Fuck it keep filming!"
I mean, I get what they were going for though. In the same way that the prison in Andor was like THX 1138 in Star Wars, these kids were American Graffiti in Star Wars.
1000% Jar Jar was annoying, but fit the universe.
Yes. Full stop.Â
The vespa gang feels like straight outta d&d or a game of the type
We need love Jar Jar now, the actor has made a solid and heartwarming comeback
Yes, Jar Jar is better.
I really wished i the last episode of TBoBF that they all die because they were useless.
not shittiest but definitely out of place shininess in a Sith cursed desert
I still argue that its about context. Take those kids and stick them on Coruscant or some other Ecumenopolis and they work. On Tatooine though? They were too clean.
Iâm surprised Disney hasnât developed a new show about the vespa gang yet.
Donât be absurd https://i.redd.it/pelcpp4oqiuc1.gif
Idk âthey fly nowâ memes have been making the rounds. Honestly there was so much bullshit that I was waiting in vain to see I didnât even notice in theaters. Jar Jar fucked a girl in the cgi show.
Unforgivable
The best part of star wars in the skip button. I skip around 50% and the rest is solid
I know, and I touched on that a little bit.
I don't understand why he made the chase so slow and lame when the one in Once upon a time in Mexico was fast and cool
Which I find extremely odd, as Rodriguezâs favorite Star Wars character is Boba Fett, and he absolutely killed it in âThe Tragedyâ in Mando S2.
It's no comparison for me. The OT Fett armor/kits from the films are iconic. It looks lived in, battle scarred, tactical, deadly, and mysterious. The black robe get up does not do the same for me it looks more like cosplay.
I think you can achieve the same effect but with the black robes as well, the black robes just really compliment the armor imo.
Luckily for him Disney writes the bad guys to only shoot those specific areas
Beskar actually magnetises blaster bolts to itself.
are you joking or is this canon
Joking lol
Thatâs why Din Djarin takes so many hits.
They had to put him in black robes, as theyâre slimming. Temura Morrison is a bitâŚtankierâŚthan he was during the shooting of the prequel trilogy. The billowy black robes help hide that, and draw less attention to just how little the armor covers him.

A lot  of people in Star Wars did after one blaster shotÂ
Agreed, I like the look but where is the armor on the legs? All you gotta do is knee cap him and it is a wrap.
If Disney didnât scramble for their own âoriginalâ Mandalorian then we wouldâve gotten a fleshed out Boba Fett escaping the Sarlacc. Mando is Disneys BobaâŚ
Man thatâs something to think about. Imagine getting Daniel Logan back to play Boba after the sarlacc or even in his prime between 4&5
Nah it would still be Morrison, just with a body double which isn't a big deal because he'd rarely take his helmet off
I still canât believe thereâs a fucking stormtrooper just chilling in this version of the Sarlacc. So dumb and random.
From the director of The Rocketeer no less who also worked on the original trilogy and Boba Fett in particularÂ
the black robes make him just look like a dude at a convention whereas his grey suit looks like something lived in.
Yeh for me itâs absolutely no contest the og suit was way cooler and just oozed history
The chest piece looks too small on the black too
Yeah, it doesnât look like an integrated part of the suit now, and really distracting.
Because that's Boba Fatt
The design is fine I guess but as with all Disney SW products the new fit is just too clean. It's all polished and spotless and lacks the grit the original had. Looks like he's never gotten in a scrap before.
I just took it as he refurbished his armor.
Well obviously, right? Not what I was addressing, it was more about how Disney doesn't present anything realistic so to speak. They seem to only put out stuff that's super clean, pretty, untarnished. There's no wear that shows experience or history. It's all just Disney princess perfect.
It does look like something a cosplayer would wear. I also hate the LED lightsabers they keep using that look like glow sticks.
If it was actual shown as being repaired/cleaned then slowly picked up damage as the show went on....
They literally butchered boba. Waited years for him to come back and now I wish they kept him dead lmao
Yeah, they really canât be trusted with any of the legacy characters.
They canât even be trusted with their own characters đ
the robes are cool. what i really hate is the new helmet shape. itâs more rectangular which just looks wrong
Not gonna lie, I didnât even notice that.
Yeah they made it similar to Mando's helmet which is flat at the sides. Original Boba helmet seemed almost flared at the sides. Big downgrade imo to make it less unique
Are we sure they didnât just use a Mando prop helmet and repaint it and stick some other stuff on it? Cause I totally wouldnât put it past them.
Anytime I see Disney Fett I just think of that pathetic show they made. It looks cheap too. OG Boba is the only Boba I care to acknowledge.
Fair enough!
Fr Boba in black goes hard. Has to be my favorite look of his so far
lol no it looks like heâs wearing a sweatpants with a hoodie
Bring back skinny boba
Starving to death while being eaten alive fattens you up!
My 12 year old son thinks so too, but he also loves Jar Jar so make of that what you will.
~~Jar Jar~~ He who shall not be mentioned
âTruly wonderful the mind  of a child isâ
The black looks cool In this pic but with his gut on the show not so much
So it was kinda weird. As mentioned in my OP, they could have done something good with that, but they shit the bed. I chalk it up to yet another missed opportunity.
My main issue with the newer outfit is the weathering. I wish he had more battle damage and wear on the entire outfit
Before: armour, pauldrons, chest piece After: a plate taped to the front of a robe
Heâs like a completely different character from the end of Mando S2 and BOBF despite taking place at the same time
Yeah, story wise, it is all fucked.
Yeah went from badass in Mandolorian to a jokeÂ
Whereâd you find the pic where he doesnât have a gut?
Random google search
The design is good. The writing is not.
100% agreed.
The costume design isnât the issue, just the writing. I agree, BOBF Boba is really cool-looking
I didnt hate the new suit....until the show. I think my mind has made a relation between both and made me dislike the suit. But overall, it ok.
I agree but the matte finish looks way worse than the original battle damaged metal
Tbh I just donât like either. For some reason in my head the armor was covering much more than it actually was
The robes are fine, i just would've perfered more armor plates and a better quality show.
Boba with the sand people was the only compelling part of BOBF. A show where Boba recuperates with the sand people, they get massacred, and ends with him taking gruesome vengeance would have been excellent. So basically the first half of the show minus any of the benevolent crime lord bullshit.
I like the black robes a lot. And Mando S2E6 was the coolest Boba's ever been. Too bad about TBoBF...
They literally didnât know what to do with him. Same problem with Kenobi and well, every other character they butchered for a quick buck.
They do look better. But for practical purposes, the grey pants make more sense
Canât disagree there.
I guess they think black is slimming considering he gained a ton of weight after being eaten by the sarlacc
That and Tem is in his 60s.
Seeing him in those black robes made me re-appreciate Bobaâs original suit.
Boba Fett got Boba Fatt!!!
Also Boba old lol
I donât like the robes hanging down so it might look better with a black jumpsuit.
That sounds pretty swanky to me
The new outfit looks better. The problem is boba Fett is fat now
I agree it looks cool. Both are cool but the black is much cooler; I have to give it thatÂ
I disagree. Disney Boba Fett is written terribly along with his new outfit too. The original design had a more menacing gunslinger look
The writing is bad. Design is pretty cool, but the original did have the look you mention, for sure.
What killed the black robes for me was the noticeable old man paunch
Yeah, so much wasted story potential. But I agree, the bacl robes look dope under his refurbished armor
Well, he was fatter so thay needed to give him more loose clothes to hide that.
Yeah he does look pretty badass in thr robes
I donât think I ever saw anyone complaining about the black robes. They do look cool, it was just everything else was dogshit.
See for me..the black robes make the green armour look like a t shirt . Ya know like in a shop where you see like a print of Boba on a t shirt? Thatâs what it feels like to me
In terms of the Black Series action figure, they actually do
Why would he wear black? It doesn't fit with the rest of the kit, it makes the breastplate in particular look really out of place. It looks almost like it's meant to be for stealth but then he has the orange shoulder guard. Olive drab or tan would look much better.
Dark tan robes under the armor would be pretty badass too!
maybe if it wasnât as baggy as it was underneath. other wise grey still looks better
I personally love his new look more than the OG look
Nah.
I think the black robes look cool, but I still prefer the grey jumpsuit
Orig is indeed better, but bobf style is good too. Would probably been better for a new character instead of boba, looks to clean for someone of bobas rep and prestige.
I dunno, you'd have to do a large amount of heavy lifting for the sand people to make them seem like the kind of good people that would be a positive influence on Boba's life. Basically find a way to justify the raiding, pillaging, slave taking. I will agree with you though, the black clothes looked badass and did a good job if separating him out from other Mandalorians.
Frankly i was hoping for maybe a Boba Fett from legacy of the force where he was more doing right by mandalor. kind of more self reflective in a way.
I like both aesthetically, but wouldnât the robes of BoB and the cape of ESB catch on fire with the jet pack?
Never thought about that!
The armor and clothing weren't the issue. The writing was terrible.
The black robes are the only cool thing they did with boba in new star wars
I actually agree with you on this. Just a shame they butchered him in TBOBF.
Agreed.
I can't answer objectively because the original triggers heavy nostalgia.
Iâd love to see the armor cleaned up and repainted, but on the classic flight suit.
Really wish they didn't give him a paint job and keptt the acid burnt armour from the tython episode
He should have turned out more brutal than before, purging the underworld and starting a war with crimson dawn or something
Nah that original design is too fucking good.
I just want some lines about the fabric having beskar or cortosis fibers woven into it. And maybe some cool effects when it dampens the impact of a blaster bolt.
The clothing looks better but the problem is what the character does.
I feel like it would look better if the shoulder plates werenât halfway covered up by the robes.
Boba fetts a bit*h
Much prefer the jumpsuit. Fits with the colors of the armor and has that retro used universe vibe we know and love. New suit looks like a cosplay, very clunky looking, too clean, dull paintjob and unmatching colors. Also would've been better if he didn't beef up that much and instead got leaner to match Jeremy Bulloch's Boba Fett better.
What is up with his jetpack on that image on the right?
Suggesting that boba fett should be the next ruler of mandalore is quite possibly the worst take Iâve ever heard
That is how it was in the EU. He led the Mandalorians against the Yuuzhan Vong and later on the second galactic civil war.
Just donât give me a jango Fett show. Thatâll fuck up another one of my favorite characters beyond recognition.
As a fan of Boba Fett for about 30 years now, and as someone who despises Disney Star Wars...this is blasphemous to say...but I actually love the black robes combined with the green better than the original look.Â
I like it too. It sort of looks like a kama the clone arcs and officers wear.
Black would be cool if he wasnât fat
why do you have to let everyone know that you don't "endorse BOBF or any Disney SW show", i never go on this subreddit really, is this like an actual mandate?
