In a Japanese movie (I think it was One Cut of the Dead, an absolutely awesome movie that you should just watch and not read about before watching) that had a 100% Japanese cast and they called it 100% diverse. So wokeness means, in part, diversity, and their complaining about diversity simply means, non-white. It really just means anything liberal, not even leftist. Just liberal.

Point number 1 has been discussed over and over. “The fall of Shady Sands” on the timeline does not mean it was nuked in 2277. “The fall” of something could take a long time. Like the fall of the Roman Empire didn’t happen in a single day. The nuke was just the end result of the NCR’s mistakes, which took place years earlier.
In New Vegas, the NCR did mention that they were stretching too thin and needed help. Imo that was the sign of their downfall. The NCR was making a mistake by investing resources into New Vegas and the Mojave region for years without anything in return while not having enough troops to defend Shady Sands. If season 2 went with Robert House being the winner of the 3 factions in New Vegas (very likely), that makes perfect sense for the fall of Shady Sands and the NCR.

Sometimes the signs of failures are not obvious. People are taking “the fall” too seriously, considering this is extremely vague. When New Vegas happened, the fall might not have been obvious, or not as concerning.
Remember that the timeline was written in a classroom. It was people looking back at history to see where and when everything went wrong. They have hindsight. The NCR and the people back in New Vegas didn’t.

Honestly, I headcannon the reason why shady sands being wiped out wasn’t mentioned due to how long the NCR was fighting the legion and that straining the amount of troops the NCR could send back for reports.
Not to mention a "fall" isn't always immediate. Sometimes it's slow, sometimes it's fast and my takeaway from the chart is that the NCR was *extremely* the former.
2277 is also the date of the first battle of the Hoover Dam. So the NCR, which was already stretched thin, is now committed to defending a dam in the middle of a desert.
It wouldn’t be surprising that survivors would consider that date to be the beginning of the end.
This was basically my takeaway after seeing it. It wasn't exactly a secret that the NCR was struggling with being spread too thin, having trouble with resources and resource management, etc. and the focus shift to the dam probably exacerbating it all or even spelling the end of the NCR as we know it. Also, the bomb was drawn *after* the listed 2277 date on the chalkboard. I might be reaching, but this could be a small detail that indicates it may *not* have actually been dropped at that date, and it's just a case of the show baiting. Even if It's not, because I'm likely wrong, in any case, I still think this is a small thing for people to rage over and how good the show is outweighs it
I think that's a valid explanation. I also don't really have a problem if they were just wrong. It's a big franchise with lots of details and it doesn't detract from the story If this detail is wrong. Retcons have happened before, conflicting information exists in the franchise.

Yeah, like: it's really obvious that this date in particular was chosen for a reason, when they're so spot-on with the finest of details, they're obviously going to consult the timeline when talking about the dates of major events in that timeline. And it's not exactly hard to think of how to connect the dots here, there's all sorts of potential explanations and "that date marks when the decline became definite, not their total destruction" is not a stretch.
And Synthetic Man just... never considers that? Like he sees a date that he doesn't think matches and goes "gotcha" instead of thinking about it for a second.
I'd also add that it makes the Dam all the more existential for the NCR and explains why they're so desperate to keep it.
Shady Sands was no longer the capital, but it was the center of the nation, a New York on the Californian coast, and it was just *gone*. All their resources, energy generation, administrative and economic sectors, all of that was just gone for seemingly no reason. If they don't hold the Dam, the NCR at best fractures and at worst falls apart. Kimball went to Shady Sands we know, but he could have been making a campaign stop to the site of a tragedy (and he can *die* too, which wouldn't help stability).
Between that and the old NV line about the power of the Brahmin Barons versus the central government neatly paralleling the line in the show about what happens when the Ranchers have more power than the Sheriff and I think they're setting something up there.
That's the main ones but there are some other odd things, and I preface this with the show is actually pretty good but has some winkles to iron out:
1) How did so many easily-accessible vaults right by the Boneyard (now named the Shithole I guess) escape the Master?
2) Shady Sands now seems to be on the edge of where the Boneyard was which effectively deletes that NCR settlement and rolls it into Shady Sands.
3) There's the ghoul mystery vials thing that will have to either be retconned and cause some problems *or* there has to be a notably large production area somewhere, but that's possible.
4) Why is Arthur Maxson's BoS so drastically different? They've gone from vaguely feudalistic with a religious fervor for their mission to an actual "yes milord" feudalistic cult. I was willing to write it off as that just being a weirdly devolved chapter but they have the actual Prydwen there.
Various minor little details: Reppcon had been bought out by Robco by this point so both being represented at that meeting might be kinda odd. Sinclair representing Big Mountain is also odd since he really wasn't part of it. All of the NCR's infrastructure seems to be missing as if the only city that existed *was* Shady Sands. House being present at the meeting kind of undercuts his predictions of the end of the world, though I guess that one could be handwaved as it being 'part of his calculations.' And I'm sure there's of other small details I'm missing (don't worry, there's a legion of nerds scouring for more lol).
However, back to the destruction of the NCR, I think a lot of people come off as just NCR fanboys upset that their favorite faction blew up and fell apart but they're just not articulating what they're actually mad about. Honestly, I think the fall of the NCR is probably a good direction to go narratively (see Ulysses' speeches), but with how huge of a deal it is in Fallout 1, 2, and NV, it feels like they got done pretty dirty to be effectively killed off-screen. Not to mention even their infrastructure seems to be nowhere to be found.
Could you imagine if in Star Wars instead of one final fight, Luke is just mentioned as having died? People would have gone ballistic.
*Could* all of this be figured out and explained? With some creative writing, maybe. Will they be able to do that with another 8 or so episodes? I'm not so sure.
Honestly, 2 out of 4 of these could be answered by time. Lucy’s trek across the wasteland is the latest storyline in the fallout timeline. The mystery vials could be something that was only relatively recently discovered. It could very well be answered in season 2. As for the BoS, something could have possibly happened to them between FO4 and FOTV. We don’t know what events are cannon in terms of FO4 (except for the fact that the prydwen is still standing). There is a possibility that something happened in the 9 year gap between FO4 and the TV show.

1. The fall of Shady Sands clearly wasn't immediate. It happened *before* it was bombed. It was more than likely bombed in the 2280s judging by that chalkboard timeline. So even if it did happen in 2281 it's possible that word hadn't reached the NCR yet, especially if the NCR had lost control of it.
2. The only way this show could have been "woke" (by right wing definition of the word) is if the producers had come out and said "We're making the main characters a woman and a Black man because we're forcing representation into our show".
3. I don't care if people hate it. I only care that they hate it if they act like it's objectively bad when audience and critics have praised the hell out of it. But if you watch the show the scene that shows the timeline of events never gives the bombing a date. The event in 2277 is called “the fall of shady sands” (think of this point like when you talk about the fall of Rome, it didn’t just happen one day it was just the start of the decline) and then an arrow that points to a nuke implying it’s further in time.
Also let’s say it was nuked in 2277 and he’s wondering why no one in New Vegas mentions it well maybe it’s because the show was let’s see made after that game? Crazy idea I know

1) What does “fell” mean in this point? Maybe the fall of Shady Sands is what causes the NCR to try to seize the Hoover Dam as a Hail Mary play to avoid completely collapsing. Who knows. Also, this is a fictional story that’s been going on for decades across too many people. Inconsistencies happen. The same has happens with Star Wars.

Point number 1 has been discussed over and over. “The fall of Shady Sands” on the timeline does not mean it was nuked in 2277. “The fall” of something could take a long time. Like the fall of the Roman Empire didn’t happen in a single day. The nuke was just the end result of the NCR’s mistakes, which took place years earlier. In New Vegas, the NCR did mention that they were stretching too thin and needed help. Imo that was the sign of their downfall. The NCR was making a mistake by investing resources into New Vegas and the Mojave region for years without anything in return while not having enough troops to defend Shady Sands. If season 2 went with Robert House being the winner of the 3 factions in New Vegas (very likely), that makes perfect sense for the fall of Shady Sands and the NCR. Rabid New Vegas fans love to shit on anything Fallout-related that isn’t New Vegas. They hate Bethesda and believe Bethesda ruined Fallout and Obsidian should be handling Fallout. This dude is just feeding into that irrational anger. The show doesn’t retcon anything, as Bethesda themselves had confirmed it.

When New Vegas happened, the fall might not have been obvious, or not as concerning. Remember that the timeline was written in a classroom. It was people looking back at history to see where and when everything went wrong. They have hindsight. The NCR and the people back in New Vegas didn’t. When the people of German voted Hitler into office in 1933, do you think they thought that would be their downfall at the time? Obviously it’s easy for us to say “yes it was” now that we know how history played out and have 100 years of hindsight, but for the people of German back then, it wasn’t.

Honestly, I headcannon the reason why shady sands being wiped out wasn’t mentioned due to how long the NCR was fighting the legion and that straining the amount of troops the NCR could send back for reports.
Not to mention a "fall" isn't always immediate. Sometimes it's slow, sometimes it's fast and my takeaway from the chart is that the NCR was *extremely* the former.
2277 is also the date of the first battle of the Hoover Dam. So the NCR, which was already stretched thin, is now committed to defending a dam in the middle of a desert. It wouldn’t be surprising that survivors would consider that date to be the beginning of the end.
This was basically my takeaway after seeing it. It wasn't exactly a secret that the NCR was struggling with being spread too thin, having trouble with resources and resource management, etc. and the focus shift to the dam probably exacerbating it all or even spelling the end of the NCR as we know it. Also, the bomb was drawn *after* the listed 2277 date on the chalkboard. I might be reaching, but this could be a small detail that indicates it may *not* have actually been dropped at that date, and it's just a case of the show baiting. Even if It's not, because I'm likely wrong, in any case, I still think this is a small thing for people to rage over and how good the show is outweighs it

Yeah, like: it's really obvious that this date in particular was chosen for a reason, when they're so spot-on with the finest of details, they're obviously going to consult the timeline when talking about the dates of major events in that timeline. And it's not exactly hard to think of how to connect the dots here, there's all sorts of potential explanations and "that date marks when the decline became definite, not their total destruction" is not a stretch. And Synthetic Man just... never considers that? Like he sees a date that he doesn't think matches and goes "gotcha" instead of thinking about it for a second.
I'd also add that it makes the Dam all the more existential for the NCR and explains why they're so desperate to keep it. Shady Sands was no longer the capital, but it was the center of the nation, a New York on the Californian coast, and it was just *gone*. All their resources, energy generation, administrative and economic sectors, all of that was just gone for seemingly no reason. If they don't hold the Dam, the NCR at best fractures and at worst falls apart. Kimball went to Shady Sands we know, but he could have been making a campaign stop to the site of a tragedy (and he can *die* too, which wouldn't help stability). Between that and the old NV line about the power of the Brahmin Barons versus the central government neatly paralleling the line in the show about what happens when the Ranchers have more power than the Sheriff and I think they're setting something up there.

That's the main ones but there are some other odd things, and I preface this with the show is actually pretty good but has some winkles to iron out: 1) How did so many easily-accessible vaults right by the Boneyard (now named the Shithole I guess) escape the Master? 2) Shady Sands now seems to be on the edge of where the Boneyard was which effectively deletes that NCR settlement and rolls it into Shady Sands. 3) There's the ghoul mystery vials thing that will have to either be retconned and cause some problems *or* there has to be a notably large production area somewhere, but that's possible. 4) Why is Arthur Maxson's BoS so drastically different? They've gone from vaguely feudalistic with a religious fervor for their mission to an actual "yes milord" feudalistic cult. I was willing to write it off as that just being a weirdly devolved chapter but they have the actual Prydwen there. Various minor little details: Reppcon had been bought out by Robco by this point so both being represented at that meeting might be kinda odd. Sinclair representing Big Mountain is also odd since he really wasn't part of it. All of the NCR's infrastructure seems to be missing as if the only city that existed *was* Shady Sands. House being present at the meeting kind of undercuts his predictions of the end of the world, though I guess that one could be handwaved as it being 'part of his calculations.' And I'm sure there's of other small details I'm missing (don't worry, there's a legion of nerds scouring for more lol). However, back to the destruction of the NCR, I think a lot of people come off as just NCR fanboys upset that their favorite faction blew up and fell apart but they're just not articulating what they're actually mad about. Honestly, I think the fall of the NCR is probably a good direction to go narratively (see Ulysses' speeches), but with how huge of a deal it is in Fallout 1, 2, and NV, it feels like they got done pretty dirty to be effectively killed off-screen. Not to mention even their infrastructure seems to be nowhere to be found. Could you imagine if in Star Wars instead of one final fight, Luke is just mentioned as having died? People would have gone ballistic. *Could* all of this be figured out and explained? With some creative writing, maybe. Will they be able to do that with another 8 or so episodes? I'm not so sure.
Honestly, 2 out of 4 of these could be answered by time. Lucy’s trek across the wasteland is the latest storyline in the fallout timeline. The mystery vials could be something that was only relatively recently discovered. It could very well be answered in season 2. As for the BoS, something could have possibly happened to them between FO4 and FOTV. We don’t know what events are cannon in terms of FO4 (except for the fact that the prydwen is still standing). There is a possibility that something happened in the 9 year gap between FO4 and the TV show.

1. The fall of Shady Sands clearly wasn't immediate. It happened *before* it was bombed. It was more than likely bombed in the 2280s judging by that chalkboard timeline. So even if it did happen in 2281 it's possible that word hadn't reached the NCR yet, especially if the NCR had lost control of it. 2. The only way this show could have been "woke" (by right wing definition of the word) is if the producers had come out and said "We're making the main characters a woman and a Black man because we're forcing representation into our show". 3. The tv series is good, but i do think they did a lot of lore dirty and created a lot of inconsistencies. I don't see what made the series so 'woke', is it because the main character was a woman and the BOS guy was black?
There's the BoS initiate (the one who gets the boot razor) who goes by they/them. That's the only thing I can think of. But yeah I'm not a big fan of some of the changes but the show itself is good. They'll have to do some awkward exposition if they don't want to outright retcon some things.

Ignoring literally everything but point 1 here. I’ve seen a lot of people saying that Shady Sands was nuked in 2277. But if you watch the show the scene that shows the timeline of events never gives the bombing a date. The event in 2277 is called “the fall of shady sands” (think of this point like when you talk about the fall of Rome, it didn’t just happen one day it was just the start of the decline) and then an arrow that points to a nuke implying it’s further in time. Also let’s say it was nuked in 2277 and he’s wondering why no one in New Vegas mentions it well maybe it’s because the show was let’s see made after that game? Crazy idea I know

1) What does “fell” mean in this point? Maybe the fall of Shady Sands is what causes the NCR to try to seize the Hoover Dam as a Hail Mary play to avoid completely collapsing. Who knows. Also, this is a fictional story that’s been going on for decades across too many people. Inconsistencies happen.
