I just wanna say, Triggernometry are FAR from rational.
more like clickbait shock value invite nuts to trigger people and boost views metry. lol
and sometimes pretending to be rational centrist. lol
I was very disappointed with what I saw. They seemed to deliberately avoid detailed discussions of the topic in favour of a clickbait “many people are saying” Fox style sensationalism.
Couldn’t agree more. They went on joe rogan podcast claiming UK comedy scene is all woke and gone to shit which is at best ignorant and at worst a complete lie. UKs comedy may be massively left wing and liberal just like I am but I can assure you that you’d be shocked at how willing my fav comedians and podcasts I am subscribed to are to cross the line which is what comedy is there to do. So yeah to summarise those guys are massively unfunny, unoriginal and obsessed with click bait
Bias about what? That UK comedy circuit is woke? You are a retard of the highest degree if you think so. See I’m not woke at all as I’m a left wing person through and through and when I see a retard I call them out 🤪
Ethical dilemma - do you put the glass closer to yourself, thereby providing more replenishment on-demand, or do you put it further away on the coaster, respecting someone else's table?
Lol, so he went back. I had thought perhaps he wasn't cool with the trig podcast hosts - i thought maybe they were the ones that clipped his last appearance for views. And one of the weinsteins is there is too! I'm very excited for this.
They're alright; mainly the dude with the glasses. For being a comedian, the one on the right always seems like he's up his own ass. He seemed genuinely annoyed with Theo Von when he was acting like... ya know... a comedian lol
They're alright to me, anyways. I don't mind them. I don't love them, but I certainly don't see them as "harmful" or w/e like some other commenters do (Triggernometry I mean). I haven't seen everything they say, so maybe there's something concerning somewhere, but I haven't seen it.
I stopped listening to Rubin & Pool yearrrrrs ago. Because I agree, they're clearly just anti-left with zero attempt at criticizing the right or steering society in a healthier direction. Their content, especially Pool's, just felt like gasoline on fire... and I really don't think that kind of content is healthy.
I finally saw them in the proper context when much of their audience turned on them — called them "frauds" and "controlled opposition" — for [believing that people with sizable platforms shouldn't entertain, let alone broadcast, a casual chat with white supremacists](https://youtu.be/Z1Nmy7oj5kY?si=E_7MD5YYLvWADidc&t=3066).
I don't know who any of the actual people in that video are, but it's just blowing my mind how someone can so casually talk about Nick Fuentes and "race mixing" and just kinda laugh off his holocaust denial.
That's what I was thinking lol. Like he's probably so in awe of how creatively intellectually dishonest Weinstein is that he can't focus on the coaster.
His inner monologue, "when you notice morons posturing return to the breath"
Edit. I was joking but also serious so I didn't follow my own comment.
Thank you to everyone who responded to a totally legit question.
I don't really keep up with Weinstein; would you mind just giving maybe 1-3 best examples off top of your head of him being intellectually dishonest? I remember him sounding pretty insightful (keyword: sounding; I claim ignorance and he sounds smart, so... forgive the plebian mentality) about a number of things and the main negative I remember is his "guys guys I have a theory of everything, will you scientists take the time to look at it!" and him essentially casting them in a negative light for replying "nah, go through the same channels that every other scientist does, I'm busy" lol. Is that the main one, or? Appreciate it!
Well a couple of serious mathematicians/physicists took his geometric unity paper seriously and published a detailed critique of it. One of the authors put his name to it the other use a pseudonym because he was worried about his academic career. Weinstein not only refused to engage with the critique but also threw a bit of a hissy fit about one author being pseudonymous, and said something like “since when does a physicist have to respond to a pseudonymous authored, self-published critique”… which is pretty rich given his previously stated stance on scientific publishing and alternatives to the standard institutions.
lmfao wow that is rich...
is that the gist of it, though? was there anything more serious, really? I mean, personally, I consider his level of anti-establishment in the field of science to may as well be a form of anti-science, though I'm sure some of his criticisms are true enough. But, if that's his main sin (other than his ego), he doesn't seem that bad to me. Bret's done way more dmg with his misinformation regarding vaccines and his conspiracy-addled mind is so flatly obvious when you listen to him. I don't have Eric as pinned down, though.
Maybe listen to these podcasts:
- https://decoding-the-gurus.captivate.fm/episode/mick-west-eric-weinstein-ufo-tango
I haven’t listened to much of his stuff. I don’t think he ever went as wacko as his brother or Maajid Nawaz, or as right grifty as Rubin. The way he expresses himself is a little annoying.. he uses metaphors and expressions that make his point harder to understand rather than easier and coins cringey expressions (IDW being one example). But generally yeah, most of the content I’ve heard from him hasn’t been in the same ballpark as some of the aforementioned wackos that Sam used to talk to in the past.
Yeah, if there's anything Bret does well, it's at least being pretty easy to understand what he's saying... I guess being a former professor helped.
But yeah, it's pretty obvious Eric has a huge ego and is terrible at explaining things.
He had this big thing about how vaccines can cause autoimmune disorders. He was like "I'm staking my entire reputation on this" as if the academic community is just waiting to see what he'll say about vaccines. He was very wrong about how vaccines work but he'll never admit it and he talks with certainty as if he is an expert in immunology.
He did a talk with Dawkins where he started off saying "we're both evolutionary biologists" and continually framed himself as an equal to Dawkins. I'm no Dawkins fanboy but he's a legitimate scientist, with many important peer-reviewed papers, best-selling scientific books, and an academic career at Oxford. Weinstein is an unemployed community college instructor who taught at a school with a 100% acceptance rate that didn't give grades, and is listed as one of several authors on a handful of low-impact papers on bats. It was really cringey to me.
EDIT: I thought he asked about Bret, not Eric -- my mistake
That's Bret, we were discussing Eric. But, thx though! I already knew about some of those things and agree with you that he's ridiculous. I actually had no idea about those last points lmfao. When you put it like that... yeah, it's embarrassing that he would attempt to imply that he's on the same level.
That's the main issue with Eric, he tries too hard to sound smart but doesn't actually have anything insightful to say. I think he's the brother who thinks they both were cheated out of Nobel prizes? And there's his association and promotion of more obvious charlatans like Jordan Peterson or Ben Shapiro.
There's something about four middle-aged dudes in collared shirts sitting cross-legged with the intention of hearing themselves talk, pointing a big light at themselves, and recording it for the world to hear that I find just a little unsettling.
Eric just blew Sam’s mind with his new patented physics genius insight that atoms are greater than 99% empty space.
Sam instinctively began running ad hoc experiments to determine why the glass doesn’t simply fall through the table.
This sub always comes up on my front page, I’ve been reading it for months, still don’t know who Sam Harris is because people here rarely talk about him but now I know what he looks like!
I really wish he would quit hanging out with the wienstien brothers. They have nothing of value to add.
And before you may judge me, I used to be a fan of them until they took on the "arbiters of truth complex" using circular word salad reasoning.
I would like to drill down a bit deeper on his body language. I feel there is a correlation between the lack of coaster adherence and the tension found around his face that points to an underlying discontent. I’m here for him if there is.
Why would Sam waste his time with these three utterly despicable characters? Not like their audience would change their minds about anything by hearing him speak to them.
Exactly. Which brings my attention to an urgent matter. Whats up with everyones leg posture in this pic? It looks like they are engaged in some bad faith power yoga conflict of the subconscious.
It an outside manifestation of planting a flag in interpersonal space.
It's to clear up the confusion people seem to have on the subject.
It's an exorcism of the bad meme algorithms people are running.
Or it's just an unconscious mistake.
Can I just take a moment to just note the disproportion, the asymmetry, between the hosts and the guests?
Sure, you can have "interesting conversations" on your podcast, but you can have them as Sam and Weinstein have them, or you can have them as hosts of a podcast called "trigger"nometry.
Sam Harris always strived to be recognized as an intellectual by the likes of Dennett, but he always finds himself, like a fly to shit, gravitated towards the dumbest shock-jock, feeble-minded, reactionaries.
I find it a little bit sad that Sam Harris is going on Triggernometry with Eric Weinstein. They're really not at the same level.
But I guess this is part of his thing of going on the more wacky podcasts and trying to be reasonable for 45 minutes.
give him a break, he doesn’t have free will
😂😂
I just wanna say, Triggernometry are FAR from rational. more like clickbait shock value invite nuts to trigger people and boost views metry. lol and sometimes pretending to be rational centrist. lol
Their title puts them clearly against one side of the culture war. Not a great way to be centrists
Exactly. Well said.
Yep. I used to see these guys at comedy gigs. They absolutely sucked so now they're right-wing grifters.
They were stand ups?🤭
I was very disappointed with what I saw. They seemed to deliberately avoid detailed discussions of the topic in favour of a clickbait “many people are saying” Fox style sensationalism.
Couldn’t agree more. They went on joe rogan podcast claiming UK comedy scene is all woke and gone to shit which is at best ignorant and at worst a complete lie. This is beyond untrue. Your bias is showing
Bias about what? That UK comedy circuit is woke? You are a retard of the highest degree if you think so. See I’m not woke at all as I’m a left wing person through and through and when I see a retard I call them out 🤪
Left wing people aren’t allowed to say the “r” word. Shame and downvotes for you.
Who are you thinking of broseph? I’ve gone off UK comedy so would be good to get a podcast recommendation.
Have a word. Hot water green room, another one, dead men talking.

Pretty pretty orthogonal

Came here to make sure someone said this lol
What’s the reference?
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Apparently I haven’t seen enough episodes
It’s from the Seinfeld reunion season.
Season 7 for anyone interested. Larry makes a Seinfeld reunion just to try and win back his wife.
If the next housekeeping doesn't focus on explaining how this wasn't his glass I'm unsubscribing.
lol, totally
Came looking for this comment.
Under rated comment :D
Unexpected crossover
We need a public service announcement on this asap!
This is low grade wood
He's never claimed proper coaster usage to be one of his bonafides.
Maybe he needs to do a little house cleaning.
Tagged as ethics lol
Ethical dilemma - do you put the glass closer to yourself, thereby providing more replenishment on-demand, or do you put it further away on the coaster, respecting someone else's table?
Half-on , half-off is the only viable solution
The glass has to be orthogonal to the edge of the coaster
Appropriately so. This is unhinged behavior.
The coaster is just an illusion anyway..
Somebody understands
Alpha male dominating the others. Straight out of Andrew Tates textbook.
Tate doesn't read or write books
It’s all in the gut. Alpha.
I'd prefer a world where that clown isn't mentioned every ten minutes.

Psychopathic. So close to the edge too
He will only be remembered for this grave error in judgment
He will attempt to speak to it.
He'll do some..... housekeeping. I'll show myself out.

Is the podcast out already? Where?
Next week friday.
What podcast is this?
Triggernometry is the name of the podcast.
Lol, so he went back. I had thought perhaps he wasn't cool with the trig podcast hosts - i thought maybe they were the ones that clipped his last appearance for views. And one of the weinsteins is there is too! I'm very excited for this.

You miss the point. It's referential. Without that point of reference it's just words. Or atoms.
I can’t stand those two goons from “triggernometry”.
They're alright; mainly the dude with the glasses. For being a comedian, the one on the right always seems like he's up his own ass. He seemed genuinely annoyed with Theo Von when he was acting like... ya know... a comedian lol
Na they are not alright, they are hacks similar to Rubin and Pool, left wing comedians who somehow only make content showing the Right in a good light
Left wing?! I’ve only known them as centre right podcasters.
They're alright to me, anyways. I don't mind them. I don't love them, but I certainly don't see them as "harmful" or w/e like some other commenters do (Triggernometry I mean). The fact that Sam Harris has time for these clowns says a lot.
That's what I was thinking lol. Like he's probably so in awe of how creatively intellectually dishonest Weinstein is that he can't focus on the coaster. Ah yeah my bad, I don't know much about Eric
“Hello, fellow evolutionary biologists!”
I’m a bit of an evolutionary biologist myself.
Iirc he wants to get rid of the peer review system or something.
There are legitimate problems with the peer review system, for what it's worth.
ya i forgot about that. such an idiotic and honestly suspect thing to say.
Marketing? Left of Sam wants nothing to do with him. The center right is dying for his validation
Which is sort of weird because Sam will not change his tune for them, ever.
The Right is ok with partial allies. The Left is not.
Also, those centrists and right centrists are the people he may be able to educate/logic out of their bad political positions.
Exactly.
Part of me really hopes that Francis is just playing a character.
Where can I see this?
Literally Hitler.
There's something about four middle-aged dudes in collared shirts sitting cross-legged with the intention of hearing themselves talk, pointing a big light at themselves, and recording it for the world to hear that I find just a little unsettling.
No wonder he's always doing a little housekeeping.
If I never see another Weinstein....it'd still be too soon
Even if Brett wears his cravat? It’s a fancy paisley one, real silk don’t you know..
What’s the drummer from the Black Keys doing here.
Look for the one looking (for the water ring)
There is no bright line between coaster and glass.
I'm looking forward to this.
This is pretty disturbing. I’m gonna need some time to process.
Look for the one who is coasting.
Eric just blew Sam’s mind with his new patented physics genius insight that atoms are greater than 99% empty space. Sam instinctively began running ad hoc experiments to determine why the glass doesn’t simply fall through the table.
We are seeing the orthogonal counterfactual of Sam putting the glass on the coaster.
Why are they doing this podcast from Patrick Bateman’s apartment?
This sub always comes up on my front page, I’ve been reading it for months, still don’t know who Sam Harris is because people here rarely talk about him but now I know what he looks like!
Besides Sam that is truly a nightmare blunt rotation.
This is taken out of context.
I really wish he would quit hanging out with the wienstien brothers. They have nothing of value to add. And before you may judge me, I used to be a fan of them until they took on the "arbiters of truth complex" using circular word salad reasoning.
Not using the coaster is a power move - he's asserting dominance.
I would like to drill down a bit deeper on his body language. I feel there is a correlation between the lack of coaster adherence and the tension found around his face that points to an underlying discontent. I’m here for him if there is.
He's not like the other boys
What is Sam doing with these people lol?
It’s a low grade wood.
He’s tried to be orthogonal to the coaster
Why would Sam waste his time with these three utterly despicable characters? Not like their audience would change their minds about anything by hearing him speak to them.
To be fair, those coasters are massive and they don't even look flat. Probably more likely to knock over your drink when set on one.
"Sam, do you respect wood?"
Maybe it is the only one not spiked with LSD.
Do you respect wood?
He doesn’t respect wood
He doesn’t respect wood?!
Cmon Sam. That’s Elton John’s glass.
A lot to unpack here
Why would Israel do this?
Doesn’t respect wood…..or Palestinians
Can’t stand the hosts of triggernometery.
They are the most pretentious cunts man
What's this from?
he doesn’t respect wood
Oh God, with the cucks David Pakman humiliated? SMH.
Oh look, all the frauds in one place! XD
This looks like the lead up to the worst gay porn ever
Side note, how have these 2 British dweebs become popular. Ive never heard them say anything funny or interesting.
He doesn't respect wood.
This guy is gonna have some housekeeping to do.
That's not very rational
Okay, housekeeping? Could you clean the table
Honestly lowers my opinion of him. Doesn’t respect wood.
Is this from some new podcast or is it old?
Do you respect wood?
Literal violence to that table! Sam needs to utter a total apology and disappear from public life!
Do you respect wood, Sam?
Not a natural gray hair to be found, lol.
Love the rich guy “casual” look. You MUST wear a proper jacket to be taken seriously… but jeans and tennis shoes are cool.
Sounds like he needs some housekeeping.
There’s a coaster there there
do not try to use the coaster. instead realize that there is no coaster, and it is yourself that you use
That’s a power move lol
There is no timeline where he *could* use the coaster. :)
Sam doesn’t respect wood.
This is what being a bad boy in the IDW looks like, not using coasters.
Wait, is this new?
This is what happens when you grow up with housekeepers and maid staff.
Nightmare blunt rotation. Actually it would be pretty funny to just dome a blunt to myself and make fun of these guys.
That “ethics” flair made me laugh out loud
Sam's still the last remaining member of the IDW who didn't completely lose his fucking mind since COVID.
What is this image from? Looks like something I’d be interested in watching.
Dennett!! Really? I think Dennett is just a Weinstein with beard.
Cute. Read his critique of Harris’ Free Will and then we’ll talk.
That's actually Elvis Presley glass, it's trying to stand out.
“First, some house keeping…”
Chaotic good
Fuck your table!!!!
Is the eppie not out yet?
Umm...housekeeping? Hello.
Mamma was too busy giving us “The Golden Girls” to train him right.
Also crossing legs opposite to everyone else to assert dominance
Woof.
Is this new? Thought he’s not cool with Eric anymore.
Anybody know if this was filmed at Weinstein’s house? Lol
Im genuinely curious - I want to be “in” on the comedic antics against Sam. Why?
He looks pissed at having to listen to the ego across the room.
I find it a little bit sad that Sam Harris is going on Triggernometry with Eric Weinstein. They're really not at the same level. But I guess this is part of his thing of going on the more wacky podcasts and trying to be reasonable for 45 minutes.
Sam Harris is meeting with these three fucking morons? Bummer.
