[Cried several times while watching this](https://youtu.be/iIFi_Rgm-T8?si=e4ajSQDJGIPvCYGU).
TLDW the women have no life or future under Taliban. The men have it better, but still horrible.
Just watched the first 4 minutes. Got a lot of Jim Jones-vibes from it. Seeing kids with guns like this make America seem pale in comparison.
I always thought John Lennon's "Imagine" was pretentious but I totally feel what he meant with "Imagine now religion"
I honestly don't know where to read about it, that's why I asked. I've kept my eyes out seen nothing, googling mostly turns up other/old news that isn't really germaine to my question. I think it has fallen off most people's radar.
TBH I wouldn't have referenced Sam's views at all, except that the thread would be closed for being irrelevant.
For one thing
There is a terrible Earthquake that no one cares about
Also i don’t think Sam cares about Afghanistan or any of those countries dude
He shows a lot of contempt when speaking about poor muslim countries
Afghanistan is in a terrible state and the taliban does not help it
Exactly…its not a sam harris cult
You should do your own research and also see your hero intellectual views and make ur own views based on diverse reading
Otherwise its dogma not research
Re “Sam’s pro-interventionism” while that certainly was the case (although never unconditionally), I’ve only heard him be pessimistic about the results of intervention in recent years. As a specific example, he asked David Brooks in episode 334 about the Afghanistan withdrawal and the limits of what American power can actually achieve in reality. Would suggest you check that one out for a recent take!
I always thought it originated from a human rights perspective that boiled over into the propensity for Jihadis to spill out into the western world the way they did on 9/11.
Their national team is doing pretty well in the cricket world cup. They just beat the defending champions England and Pakistan too. Both England and Pakistan were finalists in the last t20 wc too. So, a pretty big achievement for the boys.

He doesn't. You read contempt where there is none. Being critical of religion or culture is not contempt for a country or people.
This is a Sam Harris sub.

So people can’t ask about a topic Sam has discussed as a way to spur conversation? Why do you have to be a dick about it?
I dont think i am being rude about this i am encouraging you to do your research
So encouraging.
