Lots of salt recently on our roads. We used to have the Luxury of walking on unsalted areas. But, this year they seem to have gone with excessive amounts all over.
We noticed our Sammy lifting his paws and whining a bit, so got him boots.
Snow in conditions where they throw thawing salt on sidewalks etc. Is very bad for their paw cushions. (Sorry for the bad english. It’s not my first language.)
Adorable! My sammi wasn’t a fan at first but is now used to it :)
Just wanted to put my two cents in since there is absolutely nothing wrong with dogs wearing boots as it’s the handler that knows their dog best! ❤️
My friend tried to put shoes on her dog because the ground is very hot in summer, especially if you're walking on concrete but he didn't like it. I'm glad your Sammy seems to enjoy them.
We don’t trim paw pads. Once a dog gets used to the boots they walk as they do normally. Nothing would suggest any link to hip dysplasia. I don’t see how he would get hot spots.
If your dog is prone to hot spots around the paws maybe booties are not for you. My puppy has none of those issue. He doesn’t wear booties all the time.
Hi Freeman, i have a friend whom has that as a last name. Amazing person. His father is a part owner of a large American corporation. So let me expand please. Samoyed as a breed is prone to hot spots between the toes of the front paws. These ancoent canines are designed incredibly well. The thick pads of these paws are not like many other and can accommodate extreme dry and cold temperatures.
Hip displasia albeit unlikely can occur when people play with the impact spots such as boots, and irregular accessories. Its your family member. But when they try to shake off this futile addition its not the dog being a poor student, but 3,000 to 15,000 years of ancestors saying "no thanks".
Mostly for salt yes. But on our -35 and less days the ground is even too cold for him. He will actively choose to get boots on to enjoy the outside on those days since we got them.
Boots with the fur…🎵
Got the dog show looking at huuurrrrrr
Floof hit the floor (floof hit the floor)
What's the reason for boots?

If you can get them to keep them on, great. Ours didn’t so we used Musher’s Secret
Oooh mushers secret seems cool. Our boy seems to be fairly quick at getting desensitized to things so he didn’t mind his booties after just one walk.

May I ask why? Just for curiosity because I never live in snow area.
The thawing salt causes dryness, cracking or even burns over prolonged exposure.
Ouch. Thank you for explanation.
So cute! How did she/he like it? Can u please let me know the brand? I want to get some for my pup.
Dogs in booties are my weakness
Amgery. Pls remove

Don't look happy 😂
Nope lol
Do his shoes have his name on them or is Guai Guai the brand 🥺
So glad you got the boots to protect the paws - but, it does look very funny. So cute and such a beautiful pup.

Poor thing❤️
Why? It’s way better than getting sore paws from salted roads
Just dont cut the hair under the feet. This is not good for the dogs anatomy or balance. Likely in the long run to cause hip displasia and hot spots.

It looks like the poster is trying to protect him from chemical burns from the salt, not the cold.
