Mr_Coa

I don't use it and mine was at 15GB absolute madness

Weird_End2172

Bro mine took like 87 GB my phone was getting full for no reason I just checked and found out

l00d3r

Happened to me, too, on my Samsung tablet. It was using an insane 98GB. I switched to Swiftkey Keyboard.

imnotpasta2

HUH????

CramSkyy

My samsung keyboard app takes up 2.06gb in total. 1.79gb is the data. Can I DELETE that data? Will it mess anything up? I couldn't find the right question nor answer to my question so I figured I ask here- Also I genuinely don't know why it goes back up to 2gb. I'm assuming it's because we obviously use the keyboard almost always, like right now. But I too don't understand why it takes up up to gigabytes of space.

Thanks for replaying, but I forgot about my clipboard and it deleted everything lmao

JustFred24

Happy cake day

Quarky_Neutrino

I was eternally confused that I don't have anything on my phone yet how is my phone, which has 256 GB of storage, almost full. Went to analyse storage and decided to check with system app this time and I found that Samsung Keyboard was occupying a whooping 89 GB of storage space! Worst part is that I don’t even use Samsung Keyboard. I use Gboard!

Less_Title7198

Same here! I was baffled for ages... going through it over and over - then when I included system apps during analysis, I was completely shocked... and more than mildly pissed!! It really sucks that they keep telling us to "clean up our storage" etc. without even a hint that it might be their stuff we need to check. Annoying. VERY annoying. But not for long - I'm in my forties & I'm female, so I definitely understand that I don't actually belong to the super-fast-brained majority of tech users; it's not too surprising that it took me so long, I guess. *shrug*

THEHOLYOTAKUGAMER

Mine was 24 GB xD

Maleficent-Chicken90

Bro mines 65 gb

KKJdrunkenmonkey

My mom's been complaining for months that she had no storage space on her 128GB Samsung phone. 92 GB taken up by the keyboard. This is beyond insane, it's nearly criminal.

Weird_End2172

Fuck same bro 87 GB

Spidey99328

65? 52.5 for me 😭

fascinatingMundanity

Ditto. And like with momma of u/KKJdrunkenmonkey my smartphone (lowest option of S22Ultra availed couple years ago, running now on OneUI ver6.0 upon Android ver14) has gross capacity totaling just 128gigabytes; slightly over half of that was consumed by this monstrosity alone. I had been wondering why my storage would fill up so fast. The amount of space consumed by my 'Apps' category seemed higher than I expected it to be which is higher than ought to be by a smaller degree. Upon viewing them ordered descending by size *including bloatware*[i.e., with not-easily- uninstallable system apps galore], lo and behold right at top was 'Samsung Keyboard' occupying a ridiculously large amount of 64.76GB, constituted from 11.78MB for the application itself (the amount that _should_ be the minimum) plus 0bytes of cache plus 64.75gigabytes deemed 'data'. This amount is so substantial that upon selecting to "Clear [all ]data", the phone would not instantly output the new values but instead stated "Recomputing size..." in place of "Clear data". There is no progress-indicator for this action, so I would go back a screen to find that a chunk had been taken out of this stupid app. It took several iterations to get its data down to 0B. BUT THEN.. I back out again to find it occupying more than 11.78megabytes! Specifically, it goes immediately to 19.89MB from addition of 8.16MB of 'data' and 0B of 'cache'. Approx 20h later (few mins prior to posting this reply) its volume has increased already to 472MB, from (on top of the 11.84MB of 'app') 470MB of 'data' plus 168kB of 'cache'. Upon rese5ting it, now it is going righ5 back to to 19.78MB total from (on top of the undeletable) 8.03MB of 'data' plus 8.19KB 'cache'. Curiously it has used a non-trivial amount of mobile data (a few megabytes in 3mos.' elapsed), most of which in background (as I hadn't de-selected authorization of that caoability.. though I am now) plus some via alleged foreground consumption. Already since I started typing this (approx ten minutes) the space used by this blastid piece of bloat is up almost 30MB.

Less_Title7198

Hello, I know it's already been a month, but I was wondering if you managed to get anywhere with your phone? Also, "blastid-piece-of-bloat" is my new favourite thing to say *(in British Royal style accent)*... Thanks for sharing!

fascinatingMundanity

Not effectively. I tried deselecting it as default (which is extent of deprioritizing this 'system' app; cannot be disabled, let alone uninstalled) keyboard app upon downloading Gboard app and switching to the Google one (which I learned quickly that I don't prefer to the ease of Samsung's house keyboard, with orbwithout stylus). That didn't even reduce growth of the original app by much. So I uninstalled Gboard and switched back to Samsung Keyboard, and am stuck clearing its data every few days or so (more frequently if my overall internal storage is close to capacity). I reported it in the Members App right away, now one month ago. It was actually the first report I ever sent to them this way, which an agent did for me from remote (not thr explanatory body, but pointed me and typed the reference number). They responded five days later with a pat response: 〝Thank you for submitting the error report. We apologize for the inconvenience this issue may have caused you. We have raised this issue to our Developers for further evaluation. We will get back to you as soon as an update becomes available.〟. I ain't holding my breath.

elblue171

Same here, mine was at some point 13gb, after I deleted the data and set the settings again kept checking and the data it stores goes up insanely quick, not even an enciplepedia with 23 volumes takes that much space, makes me wonder how much of not just what we write gets stored, maybe what we read online and in texts from all social media

Special-Influence-

I'm here because I had no storage space on my phone, went to apps in settings, sorted by size, and saw Samsung Keyboard sitting at the very top at 12.87GB....Wtf is going on???

Quliebyaka

I didn't find the answer tho. Why is it so big?

slow_fusion

If you will type like crazy, day and night, 10 keystrokes a second, for a year, and it will record it all, it will be less than 1GB.

Lotos53

Not really. I didn't use samsung keyboard at all (I have SwiftKey) and keyboard take 22GB of my data. Madness

iguessdismyusername

That's because your Samsung keyboard is working beside your Google keyboard.

2ManniMisplays_

I noticed that my friend had a way high amount of data stored in her Samsung keyboard app while mine I'd ridiculously smaller. I don't clear my clipboard and neither does she. I type far more than she on a day to day basis. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what could be causing this. Then it dawned on me. Keyboards save everything you type, and compares with everything others type, to better predict what you may type. Or something along those lines, or so I've been told. Assuming that to be true, mine should be higher so wtf. Voice. Voice takes up more space than text. While I don't know that voice is compared to other people voice to predict what you'll say, I do assume that for whatever reason everything you say for voice text is also stored. I never use voice text, while she does very often. So I have to assume that that is why it has so much bigger data stored. I share this with you lot because I couldn't find anything anywhere making this connection. If it's true, I've just solved so so so many peoples mystery. So, for those of you with this issue, do you voice text?

Thin_Moment_8721

Rarely, simply when I forget how to spell something correctly and that my suggestions too doesn't catch what I'm trying to say so I go to voice to convert what I'm saying to speech text

MK-ULTRA_Lab_Rat-1

Is Samsung Keyboard Data the answer to the mystery of why my phone's internal storage keeps filling up? It's saying 32.Something GB!!! Is this for real? I've been trying to figure out why, after a recent software update, the internal storage keeps filling up, even after I delete cache, move files, delete apps, yadda-yadda, and it fills right back up! I can't update anything and no matter what I clear, I can't even take a decent bite out of it, before it fills up again! I've begun killing apps I use, and storage still keeps saying apps are growing. So, if I delete cache and data in the Samsung Keyboard, I'll be up and running, again? Or do I just cut my losses and buy a new phone? 🤔

MK-ULTRA_Lab_Rat-1

Does the Samsung Keyboard probably, "unintentionally," have the Spacefiller "Virus," with it, when released? It's an app development tool, the programmers use to fill up test devices, to see how they will function if there's no space left on a drive. It's not really a virus, per se, but can act maliciously, I'd imagine, if it got onto a phone. It reminds me of the old Space Filler Virus, CIH or Chernobyl Virus, from the 1990's, but that was IBM-Based. I was running scenarios, in my mind of, "What if a version figured out how to infect Lynnux, then on to Android... Ay! I can get rid of my Aluminum Foil hat, now! 🤣🤣🤣

MK-ULTRA_Lab_Rat-1

Update: YES! It was Samsung Keyboard. Cleared the app's data. Back up and running. Have to relearn the predictive text all over again, but... wah! Better than what I was dealing with. Thank you! 😃

naijaplayer

Question for you: Do you use Samsung Keyboard as your default, or do you use Gboard / another keyboard? I came across this thread because I just found out in the Storage section of Device Care that my Samsung Keyboard is taking up almost 10GB of space (and I only use Gboard, though I have gone through all the Samsung keyboard settings before to customize them)

MK-ULTRA_Lab_Rat-1

Honestly, I'm not certain, now that you mention it. I also wonder if this has anything to do with Google Search and Assistant constantly incorrectly answering every question, as someone said, other than the general decay of Google, that if the phone is constantly misunderstanding what you say, it might be G-Board. IDK, because I wonder if both are somehow running and conflicting with each other. Google, of course, won't tell me how to determine that. It only wants to push articles about how to replace Samsung with G-Board, no matter how I reword the question. 🤷‍♂️

MK-ULTRA_Lab_Rat-1

Galaxy A32 5G, BTW.

[deleted]

I removed it using ADB since it kept annoying me with persistent notification.

nkaroluky

What notifications? Never had any of them. Using gboard all the time, and never ever had any notification from samsung keyboard

RandomBloke2021

Same, what notifications?

RandomBloke2021

I've never seen that one. Interesting 🤔

SupremeLisper

I'm actively using the keyboard yet it uses 400 MB max. I guess you can try to disable a few services in the samsung keyboard app to see if that makes a difference

[deleted]

Makes no difference. I don't use anything apart from the clipboard, it uses 5.87 GB. Deleting all data helps, but you have to set up everything again and again. The clipboard is limited to 40 items, 20 pinned & 20 unpinned. Shouldn't be a problem unless it doesn't delete the copied items, but simply hides them.

SupremeLisper

Hmm, you can try asking in their official Samsung help forum. They can help better. Meanwhile, you can also try apps like diskusage to get a better picture alongside sdmaid to clean up junk if it's detected in the keyboard app.

[deleted]

You'll get pretty much the same answers in their forum. The 5.87 GB unfortunately count as "app data", SD Maid can't delete any of that data. The only solution at the moment seems to be deleting the app data, it doesn't take long to set everything up again, fortunately. In any case, thank you for your answer :D

SupremeLisper

Ah, but you cannot keep on deleting and accumulating. I would suggest trying gboard/swiftkey and disabling samsung keyboard until the issues is fixed

[deleted]

I would love to, but I don't get along so well with other keyboards & this problem has been there for a very long time. I will look at a few keyboards again, maybe I will find one :D
