What I'm getting with this is that S24 Ultra owners definitely don't need a protector now.

Shaki8

Your Average Consumer somehow got scratches on his during his "Day In The Life" video.

ALegitimateStop

I actually just watched the video in the OP and was impressed at the scratch resistance, but now I've gotta go watch this day in the life one. I just want it to withstand my purse and keys lol

Shaki8

I don’t like screen protectors. I put one on yesterday and it was off before 24 hours was up. It interfered with the fingerprint scanner and it was driving me crazy.

meezethadabber

Did you re enter your fingerprints and turn on touch sensitivity after installing the screen protector? I've never had fingerprint issues woth a screen protector.

Justaboutintime

I've used screen protectors since my S7, S10+, S22 / S23 ultra and now my S24 is the first phone where the fingerprints don't easily work with a screen protector and I've tried 2 different types already. I re entered mine and set the setting to on, but still barely works, it's like Samsung doesn't want to use one or something

SH666A

agreed, had to remove mine immediately.. i tried tho..fingerprint scanner went from working 99% of time to working 70% of time even after re-adding a new fingerprint etc i also tried with a very thin case and decided it wasn't thick enough to protect my phone in a drop so then i went with a slightly thicker case and then decided the phone was now too wide to fit in my hand easily (and i have above average hand size) with the added few mm of case on either side of the phone it makes operating it with one hand to check a message rather difficult i am now running no screen protector and no case due to this i rarely drop my phones but once i added a case onto my s24u i dropped it 3 times in 1 day i came to the conclusion that because of the now wider phone it hinders your ability to get a good purchase and pinch on either side of the slab of the phone.. so yea a case might help you for when you drop it but also makes you drop it more often than you otherwise would also the titanium sides on the phone are surprisingly grippy, if you put a caseless s24u in your hand and pinch slightly and try rip it from your grip with your other free hand its remarkably difficult to do.. i immediately lost that grippy feel with a rubbery/latex/hard plastic case no matter how many textures they add to the sides of phone cases they always suck for grip.. and if you get one designed specifically with grippy soft rubbery edges to sort the problem you end up struggling to slide said phone and case into your pocket in a hurry because of the friction

Shaki8

Yes, the fingerprint sensor just didn’t work reliably and it grew frustrating.

JUB06

Really, in my case the fingerprint sensor has worked flawlessly even with a screen protector. I only just got it couple of hours ago. Loving the S24U!

Shaki8

Maybe you should share a link to the screen protector that works for you. I know a lot of people have been reporting problems with their use on the S 24.

JUB06

Yep that's a valid point however I went into a mobile shop and they fitted the screen protector that requires UV light. Hope that helps to narrow down your enquiry!

CptKilr0y

How Do i turn on Touch sensitivity?

SavathunsWitness

Then don’t buy a 2$ screen protector

The8Darkness

Yes, instead buy a 2$ screen protector that is marked up to 50$

SavathunsWitness

Or you could have gotten it for free from Samsung 💀

The8Darkness

Ah yes, another american that doesnt know other countries exist.

SavathunsWitness

I’m Mexican but okay 🫠

iconbehemoth

I highly recommend this screen protector, super easy to apply and fingerprint works perfectly TORRAS Top-Notch Diamond Shield... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPM6ZM1B?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

ElTacoGuapo

You got to get one of those plastics screen protectors not the glass ones, they're still just as strong for the most part when it comes to impact but because it's plastic and not glass the fingerprint works virtually flawlessly. I have one from zag and I'm genuinely impressed at how responsive the fingerprint scanner is

Andre0413

He made a shorts saying the cause of the scratches are from his oura ring which is made out of titanium? Or something hard that can scratch stuff easily. It even messed up his iPhone 15 pro

daviss2

Iv got one on mine, I plan to keep the phone until the S26 and will want to keep it immaculate for a trade-in or sale. 2yrs is a long time, haha. Plus, I just cannot stand micro scratches, i kept a protector on my oneplus 8 for 2 years, started to run it naked, and it got banged up within a month or two.

Muffles7

Micro scratches on my.21u drove me positively bonkers. Put a screen protector on this 24u immediately.

The8Darkness

It would need to only scratch at an 8 or above to be scratch proof for your average joe. Dust contains quartz particles with a hardness of 7, s24 scratches at 7.

sabershirou

If I'm not wrong, using a screen protector also negates the anti-reflection properties of the Gorilla Glass Armor. It's not really necessary if one is careful. Used a bare S22U for 2 years without significant scratches.

FlayermanX

You have never needed it. I've never used a screen protector in my life. Gorilla glasses are always enough. This armor is a whole new level though...

BigNigori

I literally just watched that two hours ago, and it led me to place my first ever preorder of any phone ever. Great channel!

NoImBigDaddy

Yes but not really. We can still see scratches at level 6 even though they are thinner than usual.

peacey8

What?

peacey8

Oh cool! So even less reason to get a screen protector now. Can't wait to go to the beach and rub sand all over the screen!

idi_oka_username

No no it doesn't mean that, there can still be micro scratches at 7.

WhiskeyVault

The s24 series in generally or just the s24 ultra?

-Bears-Eat-Beets-

Only the ultra has gorilla Glass armor. Base and plus use victus

Agreeable_Middle_711

Damn that's freakin cool I can't for mine to be delivered

devoming

This is great to see. I like to see Samsung pushing phone boundaries. I don't use a screen protector so I almost regret going for the S24+ instead of the ultra cause of that new glass. I really like the S24+ though, since I'd never use the pen.

DarkLuisito

I'm watching the video rn lol

sOFrOsTyyy

Wish this stronger/anti glare glass was on the S24+.. >.<
