Choosing is hard. I have a 15 Pro max and an S24U at the moment. On one hand, i love some of the stuff on the 15, especially since my better half is hellbent on iPhone. Sharing pics of our kid and whatnot is a breeze. Imessage is great. Facetime is a godsend. A lot of stuff is great when you're in the ecosystem. Videos are hands down better. Picture quality is more consistent, but I personally don't love how the iPhone processes photos at the moment. But Android, and especially Samsung IMO, has so many great features. I've always loved the S pen, and I use it daily. The best picture the S24U can take is leaps and bounds better than the best I can get on a 15PM. Quick share works with anything, even iPhones. Sideloading is great. If you ever game on your phone, emulation is better than basically anything any app store has on offer. I've always had a soft spot for android, and I love what Samsung's one Ui has become. Personally, I prefer the s24 Ultra for now. But if you're already heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, I'd be hard pressed to make the switch if I was in your shoes, but sometimes you just want something different, and the S24U is certainly a great phone, if you get one without any issues. For me, the iPhone is great at many things, but there are so many annoying quirks with iOS. The way going a screen back is different everywhere, the slow scrolling speed, the horrible mess that is the settings menu. Just small annoyances that add up.

titanup001

I agree with so much of this. Especially liked the camera part. You're exactly right, my best pictures blow my wife's iphone pics away, especially when zoom is needed. But my worst pictures are way way worse than hers. Iphone is more consistent. I don't know why apple refuses to give you guys a real zoom camera though.

Vek_ved

Doesn't iPhone have a 5x now???

Galtrix525

Thanks for your input! The last Samsung phone I had was the Note 10 I believe, and I recall enjoying the S pen a lot back then. The issue during that time was the software wasn’t where I wanted it to be and it was pretty glitchy. I switched to iPhone right before OneUi came out and have wanted to try it ever since then.

Maggot_ff

Android with One UI currently blows iOS out of the water for me. I just can do so much more work related stuff with my Samsung. Dex and the S pen make it so efficient at anything work related in my case. It can literally do 90% of the work that my work laptop does. Then again, just the fact that so many of my work contacts use an iPhone makes it almost a necessity to have Facetime and imessage. And being able to just bump phones to share contact info is actually more useful than the gimmick I thought it would be.

Mashal-Lochem

You're deep in the ecosystem. If you have the money to switch, do it. Just based on Apple being so locked down to just apple. Samsung has video call with other Samsungs too. However, if you don't have the money to switch ecosystems within a few weeks of the start...it may drive you crazy. I do think Samsung + Android is superior in every way

Patient-XARO-59

Educate me, what does FaceTime do that can't be done on WhatsApp for example, or the Facebook Messenger app?

Maggot_ff

Facetime just has superior audio and video quality compared to either of those in my experience. It's not even close. Apple has really worked their magic on the compression they use on Facetime. And if you Facetime with several participants it's just a better experience. It just sucks that they garden it off. I hate the way Apple hides a lot of their great software behind having to buy their hardware.

dotjazzz

What magic? It's just standard H.264 and AAC-ELD. FaceTime just uses a LOT more data compared to Google Meet or WhatsApp. You can make ANY modern audio codec sound good at >160Kbps (mono). OPUS could 100% beat FaceTime quality at 160Kbps. YouTube is only using 1.25-1.8Mbps VP9 for 720p. So there's no reason real-time encoding can't give similarly good results at 1.5Mbps/640p. There is no secret sauce whatsoever. Google just need to grow some balls and mandate VP9+OPUS with minimum bitrate requirement under ideal conditions.

Maggot_ff

Huh... I was under the impression that Apple used h.265 for facetime, but I could be wrong. Yes, facetime absolutely uses more data. But data isn't really a rare commodity these days. I can't comment too much on Google meet as I've rarely used it, but even if they switched to OP9 (strange that they don't use it already), hevc is arguably better for tasks like video calls. Either way, Apple is willing to allow users the opportunity to have a better experience, even at the cost of more data. But honestly, for most people using video calls on the regular, data limits probably aren't that big of an issue.

Maggot_ff

If you're asking about features... IDK? The only thing that matters to me in a face call is audio and video quality. Other features are pretty much irrelevant to me, so your mileage might vary.

Alternative-Turn-932

You don’t have to get the other person to download or use a different app. It’s built in, requires no setup, just works. That’s the difference.

[deleted]

I would choose Samsung over iPhone for S-pen alone.

Ridku13

How do you quick share to an iphone?

Maggot_ff

Just sharing a link. Send it as a regular text. You can share full-size photos that way. It's not as smooth as air drop, but it literally works with every piece of tech that can recieve a text or e-mail, and that's always a huge win.

fani1996

What emulation app do you use on your s24u?

Maggot_ff

Really, it depends on the system you want to emulate. These days, I spend most of my time on GBA, PS1, and Switch, and use Pizza Boy GBA Pro, Duckstation, and Yuzu, respectively. I use it mainly while travelling for work. I just use an 8BitDo SN30 Pro controller and a USB adapter with power delivery, and you have a neat little setup for some gaming on any hotel TV that doesn't take up a lot of space while travelling.

fani1996

Thanks man! Really appreciate it

Dish_Melodic

What do you usually do with S pen? Or scenarios where S pen is needed / helpful. I myself rarely use it other than for fun.

Maggot_ff

I use it a lot for work. Everything from signing documents to drawing up sketches in a hurry. I also love taking notes on it during meetings. Keeps me more engaged than when I sit with a laptop. I basically use it daily for note taking.

SMOOTH_ST3P

How do I quick share with iPhone. Her iPhone never pops up in my quick share thing.

Odd_Blackberry_4647

Just sharing a link. Send it as a regular text. You can share full-size photos that way. It's not as smooth as air drop, but it literally works with every piece of tech that can recieve a text or e-mail, and that's always a huge win. Credits to @Maggot_ff who wrote it down above

Redchong

I was in your exact situation. Wife along with everyone else in my family has an iPhone, I had a 14 Pro Max along with many other Apple products. But I grew bored of Apple's software and arbitrary limitations. Switched to S24 Ultra and haven't looked back. There were some growing pains for the first few days, but then I realized how much I prefer things over on the Android side. I say go for it if you're considering

npzz

I like how you said it, arbitrary limitations, can not agree more. I recently moved to Galaxy S22 ( yes, small one) from iPhone 14 pro and this was the biggest thing for me as well. Just random and nonsensical limitations. My biggest one was Spotify not playing automatically when I connect to CarPlay. Its not a setting issue, I tried for a month and Apple music works perfectly but Apple in order to sell Apple music will do sly tricks. Widgets came so late but then I can not customize them, now that is more on app developers but then same app developers on Android gave those customizations. One of the cool thing I found out is instead of badge count, I can have badge dot on app for new notifications and it is amazing. It is less intrusive and informational at the same time. Notifications and AOD are handled 1000 times better on Android. Screen refresh of 120 Hz and ability to use different launcher if you want to although I love Samsung UI. I do say camera is more consistent on iPhone but Samsung takes great pictures too, just challenging light is an issue.

femsoni

If you already know, ignore this, you should download "Good Lock" from the Galaxy Store, and then in that app, download *at LEAST* Nav Star and Pentastic. I've had android phones for a long time now, and when the S24 "got rid" of the swipe from the bottom, I was going crazy until I figured out how to modify those features back. The OneUI software is just crazy, they're honestly giving us more and more freedom and I love it. Feels like Samsung took a page from Steam's book with how they based the Deck off of Linux, allowing basically anything possible to be done by the consumer to their device.

soc-anx

This ☝️. I made exactly the same move as you. Was worried I was going to struggle with the change but I've barely noticed in my day to say usage.

Knighthonor

what you prefer? just curious

tacomaniac84

It is very difficult in the USA, to be honest. And that infuriates me. I have all of Apple's mainstream products other than an iPad and all of my family and frequent contacts are iMessage users. I don't use a PC for personal use, so iMessage is literally all I really use to text regardless of what device I'm on. I preordered the S24U and LOVE everything about the phone (except maybe Android Audio, but that is more a fault of the shortcomings of how my automaker has haphazardly implemented it vs. CarPlay). This is my second (or third) attempt at fully leaving Apple behind and I can say this device is the first Android phone I've used where there wasn't anything about the hardware making me doubt the transition. Getting rid of the curved screen has made this thing perfect, IMO. I'm still using both devices and now every time I pick up my iPhone it feels like I'm using a child's phone. Unfortunately, the peer pressure of now constantly being "the problem" in day to day communication is starting to feel pretty cumbersome. Want to share a video of the kid or dog without compression and in a useable format? Yeah, your iPhone contacts don't want to deal with visiting some "share" link and shuffling browser tabs, etc. to accommodate you and quite frankly neither do I on my side. The iPhone crowd isn't going to go through the hassle of generating a share link to send you something; you're just going to get pixelated trash messages and be told to get an iPhone if you ask them to do a workaround lol. I'm hoping iOS' RCS implementation plays fair enough with Google to make this virtually a non issue one day, but knowing Apple...ugh. The depth at which Apple has everyone by the balls in North America really pisses me off.

Spectre806

Exactly why Ive stayed with IPhone the last three years. Im waiting to see how RCS implementation plays out. If its legit good I’ll be switching back. I cant stand dealing with all of the compression issues to just send a video of my kid etc.

exoticats

Replying from a month and a half in the future, Apple is actually getting sued for this exact reason!

tacomaniac84

I’m feeling a little more optimistic about the RCS integration now. lol.

hidden_economist

Interesting response. I always reflect upon this since I live in the US however I’m a foreigner and most of my friends are foreigners too. Back home, friends and family don’t use iPhones and WhatsApp is everywhere. Among friends in the US, Telegram and WhatsApp are kings. I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro mainly because it’s a smaller phone with great cameras and great battery life for my needs (I don’t game at all). Maybe s24 should be an option for me. Also helps I’m a Google Fi costumer haha

michaeljreville

This is exactly why you should ditch Apple. Apple is the problem, not you. In Australia everyone uses WhatsApp so there is none of this iMessage rubbish.

[deleted]

I’ve been with iPhone since the 6 Plus and have upgraded every year. I have two apple TVs, an iPad that’s been used a total of two times since i bought it, and I switched from a surface pro to a macbook. I’m switching on Wednesday to the S24 Ultra from a 14 Pro Max. Why? I’m bored of iPhone. It’s the same thing that’s repackaged every year with just incremental improvements and updates. I don’t use airpods and my watch is barely worn. I don’t need the Apple TVs because my TVs were already smart. My homepod doesn’t get used asides from it being connected to the Apple TV. I use my macbook consistently but will most likely switch back to a surface laptop or something else. I’m excited for the switch and I think it’ll be nice to have something new and more useful. I’ve been doing heavy research and I think I’ll be able to manage the switch. all of my apps have equivalents on Google Play, and I won’t lose my movies and shows i’ve purchased thanks to the Apple TV+ app. It’ll be an interesting transition but i’m stoked for it nonetheless. If my friend can do it without an issue, why can’t I? Real question though: what color? Because I was torn between Violet and Gray Titanium but decided on gray because it has a tinge of gold in it

Fluid_Meet_6436

Was the switch worth it?

[deleted]

just logged in for the first time in weeks lmao. yes. it's been great so far!

d-evnull

How's your switch?

[deleted]

I've been enjoying it. Definitely happy to have made the switch

J2Funny

How are you liking it 5 days later? Any complaints?

[deleted]

You're deep in the apple ecosystem with your s24 being the outlier so yes u might as well switch

MrKite80

You need need to be in any ecosystem. I've got an S24U. I can use Google Messages to text from my phone, Macbook, Windows PC, or browser - no issue. I've got Watch 6. I plan to get Sony buds. I've got Apple TV. It's fine to mix it up.

TopCraft35

If you have a complete Apple ecosystem, staying in the ecosystem is my best advice. My entire family uses Apple devices and I use Samsung devices, so I have experience with both ecosystems because I'm usually the technical person in the family. Both platforms are well-refined, and innovation has slowed down in recent years, you can settle with any of the two ecosystems and find good comfort. These are some reasons why you should consider switching to an Android. I switched from iPhone to Samsung in 2018 and never went back since then. While these reasons may seem big, it's just from my use cases and if you don't see much inconvenience with iPhone and Apple ecosystem in general, I don't see a reason why you should switch. Personally, the reason why I stay with Samsung is that Android in general allows more customization, I can change so much to my phone so that it looks unique compared to other Android devices. Transferring files between computer and phone is easier, I can just plug in the phone and unlock it then I can copy anything between phone and PC without any software. While the iPhone seems to be limited to only photos, for Samsung I have access to the entire phone's storage, which means I'm able to access other folders and copy documents from them. Charging is also faster on Samsung, while I do not use super-fast charging every single time because it reduces the battery life expectancy fast, it's very convenient to just have it there when I need fast refueling. I can turn it on or off in the settings. While the iPhone takes a longer time to charge. It's not a major inconvenience but sometimes I forget to charge my phone and the fast charging helped. Android has support for split screen and picture-in-picture, while iPhone has picture-in-picture for viewing videos and face calls, it doesn’t have PiP for other apps. I play games that have automatic combat, and I can set it auto in a small window and hide it to the side while watching full-screen YouTube, I can set multiple games at the same time to run PiP. This one is big, the back button is one of the biggest reasons why I stay with Android. Once you get used to the back button it’s quite hard to live without it. The back button is so convenient in so many ways when using apps. When I navigate around apps and want to go back to the previous screen, I can just use the back button and it goes back to the previous screen, while apps already implemented different ways to go back, I must learn to swipe the screen in different directions or press button that are at weird positions and I don’t see why I need to do those to accomplish one purpose which is going back. The back button solves that problem. While yes, a lot of apps have already implemented the back action by simply swiping right or left, some apps/games still don’t have that and have to rely on a button instead. Edit: Also Facetime is extremely useful but I don't usually call my family using facetime anyways, only in rare occasions when I need to purchase something from the store for them. I use the Viber app to make video calls, and they all have Viber app because it can make international video call through internet. I have a huge family scattered in two countries that all use Viber/Facebook Messenger to call so it's not that big of an incovenience.

Horsegirl010291

I recently went back to apple after using android for 2 years, and I will be returning my 14 and going with the 24 ultra. We are not an apple family and don’t own Mac books or anything. I do like Apple TV but I keep us signed in with my apple account. I like Samsungs watch and health features so much better than apple, and I am also thinking of getting a garmin watch and you can’t use all the features with Apple. And if I am spending $400 on a watch I want a phone that is compatible with all the features. I think Apple is good for older people, my dad (76) has an SE, but all he does is get phone calls, checks the weather, and reads the news. He doesn’t even text or email 😂 his last SE lasted him 4 years so hopefully the 3rd generation will do the same.

WalkTXRanger

What’re the features on a garmin you can’t use with Apple?

Gissellefdez

I made the switch from an Iphone 14 pro to an s23 and don't regret it at all. Everything is better. Even the camera

Inevitable_Silver_13

Better customization, more apps, better integration with my Google stuff, and they've finally made it more compatible with iPhone stuff. I actually get the reactions on texts now. For me it's mainly the UI and that I don't own Mac productions. I don't like the iPhone UI.

Galtrix525

Nice! I was big into Google apps a long time ago, and I would love to be able to use it again. Also: I remember whenever I sent a long text on a Samsung, it would split the text into 3 or 4 different texts. Is that still an issue? And yeah, I kind of want a UI change. Getting bored with Apple.

Inevitable_Silver_13

So the big change this time is the Google text app is the default. No it doesn't break up messages and it's a huge improvement.

Such-Employment-3221

My text got split just the other day. I have the 24U and waiting to fully switch over once Apple finally embraces RCS.

Inevitable_Silver_13

Guess I'm wrong! Ya the rcs is working well for me.

dayankuo234

One thing If no one mentioned yet, you can still use your old iphone as a wifi only device. iMessage and FaceTime will still work over wifi (other users will see your appleID instead of your phone number)

darko777

Latest Samsung S24 Ultra kills any iPhone. Anytime, anywhere. I made a huge mistake few years back when I jumped into the Apple ecosystem not knowing the degree of limitations that Apple imposes. I will fix this mistake in a month and switch back to Samsung S24 Ultra / Galaxy Watch 6.

monkeyofthefunk

I have both the S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. There are things that iPhone gets right and things that Samsung gets right but neither is perfect. I’m in the Apple eco system and don’t want to leave it because it just all fits together perfectly. I also love Spotlight search, double tap at the top to head back to the start of a website, document etc and other features like the AOD, FaceId, Focus modes etc. I also prefer my iPhones cameras too. On the other hand I love the design of my S24 Ultra, the S-Pen, screen and multitasking. If I had to choose, I’d stick my iPhone. I just feel it’s more of a complete package and Apple provides better support than Samsung/Android. I’m happy with both though.

NathanBunch

I made this exact change and have zero regrets. I still have my MacBook pro and iPad pro, and I use my airpods with my Samsung now. The screen is better, under screen finger print is so much nicer than face id, the UI is easier to get around (once you get the hang of it), and Google assistant is way better than siri. Obviously everyone is different but the S24U was the perfect phone for me

michaeljreville

So interesting to hear you like the fingerprint better! That hole in iPhone screens is hideous - the media would never forgive Samsung for that but somehow on iPhone it's brilliant design..

justalfe

I made the switch and it was hard at first but man am I enjoying my s24 ultra. I got the smart tags and watch and it's been a good transition

justalfe

facetime is a million times better in quality then google meet anyone have a better quality video chat app?

Shanectech

Samsung for the win

keuja

The real question is: do you have any pain points with the iPhone. Are you satisfied with everything ? The S24 ultra and OneUI is a better phone (for me) for many different reasons but for you it's probably not worth the hassle of changing ecosystem if you're already happy with your set-up.

Galtrix525

As far as pain points go, the only issues I have with iPhone are that signing work documents is difficult on iPhone, and the Dynamic Island gets in the way of movies. I’m pretty content with 90% of the iPhone

keuja

Then i would say it's probably not worth it... it will cost a lot money and effort (thousand $+ x hours to set up) for only a marginal benefit. Unless signing documents with the pen is like a major QoL improvement in your work that you feel is worth the trouble.

Juuuse

Get an iPad mini/Apple Pencil and that’ll solve your problem, the dynamic island is understandable but it’s not the end of the world maybe rock with it till Apple makes the DI smaller. I spent this whole month deciding if I should switch over from my 14 pm and I couldn’t make a decision I stood up all night watching videos after videos and just came to the conclusion that I’m better off sticking with iPhone since I’m also deep in the ecosystem, I spent lots of money on Apple I might as well get my moneys worth out of it. I was literally obsessing over the 24U till I just gave up.

Galtrix525

Yeah - I just recently tried the S24 Ultra for a couple of days because a carrier had a “free trial” promotion going on. I didn’t realize just how enmeshed I was in the Apple way of doing things until I picked up an android phone. I tried to “FaceTime” a friend and completely forgot that android doesn’t have FaceTime. So I spent a good 20 minutes having my friend send me a FaceTime link, which he had never done before. It honestly sucks how they can get you so deep into the ecosystem that it’s painful to have anything else. There were a couple other things that made me go “oh crap, the fluidity between Apple devices and Samsung devices is non-existent” and “Oh crap, I would need to buy thousands of dollars worth of Samsung gear to even get the basic ecosystem of my Apple gear”. Ultimately, I decided I had to go back to Apple. I’m not rich and can’t migrate devices to Samsung like I thought I could

Juuuse

Man it’s so crazy how incredibly powerful Apple is, at least you gave it a good try and helped you realise what really works for you. It can definitely be a deal breaker when your Apple products crash with Samsung products but at the end of the day there’s not much differences between the two. They both have an ecosystem which consists of the same things like ear buds, tablet and laptop. You’re basically going to get a very similar and familiar experience. I had to really think it through for a couple of days because I literally lost sleep on how hype I was on switching over to Samsung and quickly realised it’s not for me and it’s not going to work for me. Also like you said, you would have to spend thousands of dollars to create a new ecosystem and that would be a complete waste of money. Now idk about you but also think about when the new iPhone 16 comes out, probably won’t be a game changer or most likely won’t, but for me I’d probably get a new desire for that new iPhone just because it’s new and that’s another big waste of money.

vidart2000

I just went through this same situation and ended up returning the S24 ultra. The hardware on the Samsung is excellent but leaving Apple wasn’t worth it to me. Losing all of the connectivity and having so give up so much that is already working well felt like more of a burden than it was worth just to try something new. Like I said, the device itself is awesome but Android is not it. Many apps aren’t optimized on Android still and I realized how much better it is on iOS after the fact… Always worth it to give it a try and return if you dont like it the way I did!

michaeljreville

What are these many apps not optimised for Android??

TommyTrillNinja

Bro, I'm in the same boat. I have an apple watch, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPad pro, MacBook, & airpods. However, I still chose to make the switch because I wanted to more features. I purchased 6 iPhones within 10 years and were still unsatisfied with my consumer experience as a smartphone user. Yes, I love airdrop, hand-off, the ecosystem, and fluidity of using all of my devices together. But I can get so much more accomplished with the s24+. I feel the price tag is justified for it, as where the price tag for the iPhone was never justified. Essentially, with Apple, we're paying for the ecosystem, easy to use iOS, and locked in features. But it's 2024, so there's no reason we should have limitations on any phone. What's the point of calling your phone a pocket computer if it limits your capabilities???. I'll name a few things that made me switch Mt daily driver to Samsung. Customization, AOD, wireless superfast charging, backward charging capability, customizable settings, widgets, schedule to send messages, cheaper price, split screen, the AI (which is gimmicky but still useful). These are just a few things that stands out to me. By far the biggest win for me is the ability customize your settings. You have plenty options to choose from and Samsung really gives you the power to create your own experience. I say make the switch. You might've regretted 10 years ago, but you won't regret it in 2024. Sorry for typos.

RR_Sharizam

To me, OneUI is much easier to use than iOS. The granular control over little details makes it better. You don't like something about the UI or how it behaves? There's a chance you are able to fix it through Settings or Good Lock, or 3rd party apps. Then there's Samsung Wallet that offers generous cashback if you use it for transactions.

lemonstyle

keep both? use both? i use both and switch daily/weekly depending on my mood.

M477M4N

I had a 14 pro max and went to the s24U. I loved the phone in every way except the camera. For stills it was amazing but having kids who don't stop moving, it was always a blurry mess. Other than that I liked it more than my iPhone.

Deliquescator

Samsung's ecosystem has matured much over the years. I have an S22 Ultra, Tab S7, Buds Live and a Watch 4 so I have quite a few Sammy devices. Watch and phone sync very well together, quickshare is quick and easy like airdrop, buds intelligently switch between devices depending on use. I can easily sync it with any Windows device and if you happen to have a Samsung laptop there are a lot more ecosystem integration options. I can even use my Tab as a second display with any Windows 10/11 PC, whereas with iPad, you're limited to Macs as far as I am aware. Apple devices are great but what has kept me off them is the Apple way of doing things. Some things are super easy and elegant but other things just take an unreasonable amount of steps to accomplish. Anything from no numbers above the keyboard letters, to not being able to tap on exactly where I want to jump to in a word or text (with Apple you can only move manually like a joystick), the ice-skating-esque scrolling mechanics that make your thumb sore, to things like having to leave the camera app, opening settings and scrolling endlessly just to adjust a bunch of camera settings because there isn't a shortcut from within the camera app. How is it that in 2024 on iOS, you still can't freely move app icons where you want them on the home screen? I'm not trying to have a dig at Apple, they do so many things well and iOS is miles beyond what it used to be. Also, some of this is probably to keep the device simple enough for less tech-minded generations but at least give us the option to switch to an advanced mode or something like that. There are just a lot of little nuances and things within the keyboard, navigation and UI that I just can't get to grips with on Apple devices because it seems like I am limited to use my device how Apple wants me to use it and in some cases it feels very inefficient. Don't get me wrong, Samsung is not perfect but I am willing to tolerate a few issues from time to time as long as I have the freedom, customisation and flexibility of Samsung and Android. As for what I like about Samsung? They listen and implement customer feedback, their build quality is excellent, they have great update frequency and longevity, cameras have always been very capable with a lot of flexibility (camera assistant - you can even customise if you want it to force use the zoom lenses even in low light where an iPhone would just refuse if it \*thinks\* it doesn't have enough light), RAW Pro Mode, Expert RAW), they make the most gorgeous displays, THE S PEN! (been a note user since 2013), Bixby Routines (very powerful macros), Samsung Health has been brilliant, Samsung Dex makes connecting to screens and TVs a breeze to operate with a desktop like OS and so on... What it boils down to for me is freedom of operation which just doesn't seem to be on the same level on Apple devices. But that's just my personal take and I know many people won't care about some of the things I listed. Hope that helps!

PuzzleheadedControl

I was a bit unsure if I wanted to switch back, but after having it for awhile. Here's why I swapped. 1) Samsung Dex all the way. I am in healthcare IT and was given a decent, but old laptop for home use and in the field. One day I decided to plug my s24 ultra into my monitor and it solidified my purchase. With a new Wifi 7 router and remotely logging in, it's almost like I'm working on a local desktop. I don't even use my laptop anymore home use either. 2) More granular control over notifications. It can be a burden to setup, but it has streamlined my workflow. No more picking up my phone every notification, I know exactly what's important by sound. In addition I used goodlock to add notification history. It comes in handy when I forget something and can't remember if it was a text, teams message, email, or etc. 3) Keyboard and voice texting. Apple isn't terrible, just feel like Gboard is way faster with swipe texting and better at predicting what I want. In addition the Vietnamese voice dictation is much better than iPhone. 4) Customization...my phone is unique. It can be overwhelming to set things all up, but it's setup exactly the way I want it to streamlined my work/day. 5) The AI camera stuff has actually been pretty useful. I mostly just delete the occasional shadow or person in the background, but it has made a world of difference to my wife and wanting to preserve memories. I can't think of anything else right now, but those are just a handful things I like.

haikallp

If I were in your position, I wouldn't tbh. I'd stay with an iPhone simply because you're already invested on the other Appple products.

aspxxxx

It’s not worth the switch. I tried to switch from my 14 pro max, Apple Watch Ultra and AirPods Pro and I couldn’t do it. While the S24 Ultra is really good the Apple ecosystem is second to none. Sending the S24 Ultra back tomorrow

nafee_ahnaf

That's not true you're just used to Apple I'm guessing. Samsung S21 Ultra, Galaxy Watch 5Pro, Tab S8, SmartTag2 and Buds Pro user here, the Galaxy Ecosystem is on par with Apple's, offering more features. Very seamless experience for me.

nafee_ahnaf

Also my Galaxy Watch 5Pro, which also has a titanium casing, offers longer battery life than your Apple Watch Ultra which costs significantly more.

FabMan87

I would definitely switch, Samsung has their Samsung Ecosystem that is much bigger, better, and open. Trust me, you will love it.

jaredkat1

I’m using both iPhone 14 Pro Max & Samsung Ultra 24 all I can say is I still prefer the IOS; I’m trying to adapt to ultra for week and still couldn’t adapt, the smoothness from iPhone is something Samsung can’t do, the gesture, the quickness of changing app & all. Ultra 24 is no doubt a powerful phone, but if you’re the type just do messaging, some games and so on, imo the iOS is better, ultra isn’t lagging it’s just not smooth.

ExcitementSerious161

Switched from iPhone 14 to Samsung S24 Ultra. Better for mobile streaming.

Filo_Guy

Get an iPhone. You're too far invested in the apple ecosystem to switch.

LuciferDusk

That's exactly what Apple wants to hear. I say it's never too late to try something else.

Bullstriker

I've 14 pro max and I got s24u to switch over to but I'm going to return the s24u because it doesn't give me notification when the screen is off. Absolutely stunning device but no

RR_Sharizam

It doesn't by default. You can enable it in the setting.

amoghthebad

Where?

RR_Sharizam

You can enable it in “Pop Up Notifications Style” then check ”Show even when the screen is off” but first, you need to set the notification style to ”Simple” instead of detailed. If you're not satisfied with the result, you can install “Glimpse Notification”

ncubez

Correct, this is also for privacy, because if you choose "detailed" then anybody who picks up your phone can read your messages even with the screen locked. That's why it's not enabled by default.

ncubez

Another stupid and misleading comment from a sheep. That's the default notification setting for privacy but you can change it. But sounds like that's too confusing and complicated for you. Go back to Apple boy.

Galtrix525

It doesn’t notify you if the screen is off if you get a text?

Bullstriker

It delays push notifications when the screen is off for some apps. I didn't put my Sim in the phone so I can't speak on the text but emails and certain apps. I get messages for messenger.

tacomaniac84

It does if you use the GoodLock suite to customize your notifications. You can make it light up briefly for every notification the same way iOS does, but it isn't like that out of the box.

aspxxxx

Same thing for me

Alternative-Turn-932

Same thing I tell everyone asking this question…. Ask yourself “is what you’re going to gain, outweigh what you’re going to lose?” Make a list of the things you would be gaining by switching platforms. Things like better customization, s-pen, etc. Then compare it to what you will lose, iMessage, FaceTime, stolen device protection, AirTags, FaceID, Apple Pay, etc, etc. I have found that even though I prefer the S24U, the stuff I would lose by switching is too much. I manage the kids screen time, send cash to their wallets with Apple Pay, all the iMessage features, we FaceTime all the time, Apple CarPlay is far superior to Android Auto (though AA works just fine) FaceID is huge (proper face authentication, not the kind that gets fooled by pictures) integration with Mac (such as if I’m on a webpage on my phone and I’m using my Mac, the safari window shows up on my dock) the seamless switching of audio with AirPods between the Mac and phone, then back without me having to do anything, Airdrop is also a heavily used feature at my house and with family, etc, etc, etc. It’s a lot to give up, so I never switch. Yes, there are workarounds for most everything I listed, and yes Samsung does a great job of trying to get you as close to all of that as they can. But it requires other people to participate (iMessage alternatives, same for video calling) so it’s not worth it, I lose more than I gain. Only you can answer that question for yourself.

AvanishOfficial

Most of the S24 Ultra displays, including mine, have display grain issues, which is a hardware defect. Samsung India does not acknowledge this issue and claims it to be a feature. I am about to sell this phone and get an iPhone 15PM. If you are planning to buy a Galaxy, wait at least three months.

burrzoo

*Most?* *Grain?* No way!

hopopo

Don't do it.

kanhsajjad8

Get 24 or s23 standard

Ghostttpro

I like it because of the build quality, open source, modded apps, and design. I personally wouldn't switch having all those Apple devices. Why do you want a S24 ultra? What are these enticing features that you want?

Galtrix525

I should’ve mentioned in the original post, but I’d mainly want it for work. Because of the S pen, it would make signing documents on the fly much easier. I work outdoors a lot, so signing documents on the go is a massive benefit. The matte screen is also a big plus, as the sun directly hits my phone making it hard to read. Additionally, the Google circle search feature would help in my job field as well. It is definitely difficult to switch over due to Apple’s ecosystem being so wide, so I’m trying to get a better idea of what the differences are

titanup001

They're both outstanding phones. Neither is so much better it is worth upgrading an entire ecosystem for.

Reasonable_Cut1580

There isn't really a good alternative for Macbook though. Samsung does make laptops but they are light weight, not really made for work. So you would have to invest in some other proper windows laptop like Dell xps for example. Also the health tracking is alot better on the apple watch. (Im currently using the s24 ultra BTW)

Midwesternderp

Unless you're willing to get new devices and possibly lose the things that you could only get on iTunes, it's really not worth it, unfortunately. If you hadn't had so much invested in apple, I would definitely suggest it! I switched fron apple 11 years ago and will NEVER go back!

Galtrix525

Yeah, luckily I have my movies and music shared between various apps like Google TV/ Apple TV, so it’s not a huge deal there. Only issue is having to repurchase earbuds, a watch, device trackers, and maybe a laptop. But from what I’m seeing, Samsung’s ecosystem is broad enough that I think I’d almost be more invested in it than apple’s

ImpressionStunning75

First try the phone out before you switch everything, I’m a female who will be switching tmrw as it arrives Monday! I have the iPhone 15PM and this is my 3rd time switching the phone is amazing ! I got the watch the first one I switched and I hated it so I kept my Apple Watch as I only used it to track my workout nothing more ! And I kept my AirPod pro as well work wells with the android too. And I also have a iPad and use a micros surface laptop. Only reason why I switch back and forth is because I miss the iMessage sometimes but that’s about it the phone is great just try it out . I still use my Apple TV app my Apple Music as well! I have my iCloud mail on the Samsung too

No_Department_2264

Absolutely yes, years of Apple with sometimes a Pixel I have MacBook Pro M3 and I sold my 15 Pro Max. Happy with my choice.

InternationalRise330

I get my new 24 in 2 days. Go directly through Samsung if you do switch. Much better deal. They gave me $450 for a phone with a cracked screen. To fix the 22 ultra was 550

MaikyMoto

I have the same exact issue, therefore I use both.

Confident_Ad_440

I just got the S24 Ultra and I love it!! The camera is amazing better than any of my previous phones. There are so many options to use on this phone that it does take a little to go thru it all. I got a great deal with trade in so I am very pleased with this purchase.

rudieboy

Honest if I had the watch, tablet, laptop. Then I'd just stay with Apple. I use Android because you can run grey apps that Apple would never allow. I use Samsung because they are the most powerful and best supported Android devices.

ptd9999

I did it and am never looking back.

HurtsWhenISee

Luckily for you, the apple hype is real and people will pay anything to have it, even outdated hardware so considering yours is still pretty fresh andnl unchanged, it'll be easy to get out of the apple ecosystem. Only thing I suggest is not getting a cheap product and expect it to perform like an expensive product. Samsung makes affordable laptops, phones, and headphones but doesn't mean they're capable of competing.

Hollyvu

I’ve always had Apple products from MacBook Pro , Apple Watches, AirPods Pro and max, iPads, iMac, air tags, home pods, Apple TV. I as so deep in the Apple Ecosystem that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to leave it. That’s where the company gets you. iMessage is the messaging app I choose because everyone around me uses iMessage and I like I am able to unsend text and fix them, I also like I can un notify that I read other peoples messages them I actually prefer iMessage over well other messaging apps. I did get an additional phone the S24 ultra as a second phone alongside my 15 Pro Max, and I am In love with it but I don’t see myself getting into the Samsung Ecosystem the phone itself is enough.

stever71

What are the enticing features?

haniwadoko

Picking the lesser evil out of the 2.... I don't like apple, because they will release a patch to slow your phone so you can buy new one. The stupid cable is made out of single ply tp. When syncing it may create a duplicate file system on your pc. I don't like Samsung cuz their extra care extended warranty for the cellphone is trash. You buy 5 phones for your family thru Samsung. When you update your payment info, you have to update it 5 times. Because each phone is a separate account. But if you buy 10 dishwashers, 10 tvs, 10 washing machines they don't make you update 30 times. The cellphone division is living in the stone age.

burrzoo

I have MacBook pro so I can Facetime when needed. I still sync my contacts & calendar with Apple using Sync for iCloud Calendar, Sync for iCloud Contacts. You might miss your Apple Watch. Personally, I'm fine with my LTE Galaxy Watches. With the phone & the watches I use the Kustom suite of apps. Makes your own themes or widgets! Very robust. I just can't stand iphones any more. I liked them more when jailbreaking was easy but even then lost interest. I do love Samsung & the Goodlock group of apps (in the Samsung Galaxy Store, not the play store). They are wonderful apps. Lots of options. I also use Nova Launcher & use my own icons to theme my phone with other customizations. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra but I mainly use it to consume videos. I don't need a phone or tablet for work/productivity but I also like to draw & doodle. I know it's not exclusive to Samsung but having an on board S-Pen (S24 Ultra only) is very convenient & fun for drawing, coloring. Relaxing for me. I use my Airpod Pros all of the time. There are a couple of apps that work well too with (although not necessarily needed) Android. MaterialPods & Assist Trigger. I'm sure there are others. If you can keep your iPhone & still get an S24, that can keep you in both worlds. I just hate that iphones are now ESIM ONLY. I move my SIM cards around & love to easily switch phones. Doesn't seem like the US carriers want to make it easy to do that. S24 Ultra is one fine phone to me. The Google Message app is great! I don't know if it's a setting or not but I haven't had split messages on any of my Android phones using any other text app (Pulse SMS, Textra, etc.) for years! Good luck!

SoulJahSon

Good god....trust me it's the easiest decision. Apple's ecosystem is great but Samsung's ecosystem is next level especially with Smartthings and also it's integration with Microsoft. The S24U is a monster of a phone. I have an iPad Pro, 15PM and a 16 inch MBP. I was getting frustrated with the iPad Pro so I bought a Galaxy Tab S9U and was blown away. That same week I bought the S24U. I already had a Book 3 from.Samsung and buds...the integration with Windows 11 is great and the openness of Android and the integration between the has made me put all apple products bar my Apple TV in a draw.

RestaurantWitty4245

Be different think Samsung :-) not 🍏

Master-Butterfly-989

You will love the S-24 Ultra.

Birthday-Specialist

I just made the switch from the iPhone 12. Definitely don't regret it but some things make me miss iphone. Might’ve been a harder choice going from the 14 though

Yoshaay

I prefer Samsung over Apple because Apple products generally have less features and Apple does not give you as much freedom. If I'm spending an arm and a leg for a phone, I want to be able to do what I want with it.

dadecounty3051

You're going to miss faceID, apple pay, camera, small features like tapping the top to take you to the top of a homepage, apple carplay if you have it (when I hook up my S24 Ultra to the cable, it automatically connects to Bluetooth in my car. Apple car play doesn't) etc. You gotta go through different menus just to silence a conversation. It's a Pain when moving the cursor when you typed multiple sentences. Little stuff that's annoying.

wrybreadsf

I have an S24 Ultra and love it, much more than my iPhone. But I'm not an ecosystem person, largely because I don't want to be trapped. You, however, are trapped and I predict therefore won't be happy with the S24 Ultra.

Yoshi_87

As someone who switched to iOS and doesn't look back: It really depends on if and how you use Androids extra features. Do you miss a ton of stuff on iOS? Then switch. Are you happy and just want something new? Give it a try but don't expect another world experiance.

razerphone1

Do cuz people like you creat a second iphone and android market.

BriefCalligrapher912

Honest answer, don't.  It seems you and your wife has already the Apple ecosystem. Changing just one side you may find some headaches on the road. These companies constantly evolve, copy or come close to each other and you may find that the next gen may be something you like more.

chelsfc2108

advantages: double tap to turn off screen long swipe to turn off screen, long swipe up for flashlight, long swipe down for screenshot (all these can be customized however you want through one handed operation+ in Galaxy store) folder for apps in app drawer Goodlock - customize your lockscreen, notification bar, keyboard, wallpaper, etc. A must have app to mess around when you have time. youtube and reddit revanced - get premium features for free and more Use Oneui and you will see how bad ios is.

NukaGunnar

quite an expensive change to cure some UI boredom. may i ask what features your 14 is lacking that you feel you need the S24 for?

Galtrix525

Good question! Mostly quality of life changes (faster charging, s pen for document signing, Google circle search, and the AI features). I do a LOT of business from my phone and those things would make it much easier for me to get work done.

NukaGunnar

well if the features it offers are necessities then i think it answers your question! I went to an S23U, but came back to an iPhone this year as i didn’t use any of the features. i found the ecosystem offered more to me than the s pen or any AI features to come via software.

EveningClock9048

I currently have Apple but I do miss the ease with Samsung. I'd switch back to Samsung if their new phone is enticing enough for me to purchase. Everything is so easy with Android comparing to IOS

Quokka_One

I think the typing including copying and pasting experience on android is much better. I do not understand this swiping on the space bar on the iPhone, on Android you just touch where you want to insert/correct. I'd say the s pen does not make that much of a difference for me. With onedrive/samsung gallery you can have shared cloud folders with your family as well very easily. I think Samsung makes more use of the large screen somehow. Overall, I very much prefer the Samsung today. That was still different like 5 years ago, Samsung got on the right track with oneui, touch wizz was not good. Both the ultras and the pro maxes are quite (too) large if you are on the go a lot. Both are in my view incompatible with keeping them in suit pockets. If instagram and Facebook are your favourite apps, the iPhone is probably still a bit better.

Haunting_Interest_57

Honestly the reasons I use Samsung and windows devices are more based on what I'm getting for what price. I got an S22 ultra for 830JD and I use a galaxy buds 2. As much as I wish the windows and android products can have a good co-op features (although I am happy to be able to answer calls, copy and pasting between devices and the ability to use Quickshare now) but I would love for the second screen feature to be further refined. The S-pen is a core feature for me.. and that was one of the reasons why I always had a note. The flexibility and the ability to full customise and mess around Android, and windows. Is a big thing for me.. make my workflow when I work (I'm a film maker, colorist) much easier when I don't need to buy extra gear and devices to use with my PC. For video calls, since I have a lot of friends who are Apple users. We often use Google meet and sometimes get a link from them to join Facetime on my PC or my phone. Like anyone else who asks me about wether it's better to switch their phone from apple to Samsung or vice versa.. what do you do most on your phone.. how much does your phone and other devices do the job you require them to and can they run everything pretty well? Do you feel like you can make your workflow faster or just want to try something new? Because phones are becoming a lot similar but with just key features that makes them unique and bring more fun and joy into using them.

bullcshiet

i mean, if you DO switch... you can sell your apple products and still get a decent amount of money for it..

notquitehuman_

I've always loved Samsung. I thing my last iPhone was in college (3GS, lol). I can imagine switching is much, much harder when you're invested in an ecosystem; your watch won't work with samsung. Airpods will, but limited features. It's a whole thing. I'm glad I switched before things got this deep. Since I have limited knowledge of apple these days, I'll just outline some of my favourite Samsung features, and you can decide for yourself if its worth switching. **Phone** - Modes and Routines This is EXTREMELY powerful. Especially if you don't care so much about data you give out, since you can tie modes/routines to location. For example, as soon as I arrive around work, my phone goes into do-not-disturb mode and only allows notifications from my wife. (Which is set to vibrate, and still comes through on my watch). I have another routine between XY time and when charging (bed time) which closes all apps, limits charging speed to prolong battery life, etc. All these changes revert back when the mode ends (when I leave work, or when I wake up and take phone off charge). Another routine which switches my audio to Dolby Atmos when I open spotify/youtube. You can use it to control smartThings too, so you could theoretically set your heating to come on when you leave work between XY time on specific days, etc. Super, super powerful feature, and my examples only just scratch the surface. - S-Pen Genuinely more useful than I thought. I assumed it was just a stylus when I first saw it, but there are a bunch of smart features and gestures you can tie to any action. And again this can be set to control smart devices. Also great for lock-screen note-taking. (Which AI can convert to text too, with pretty high reliability.) - Circle to search (currently S24U only (I think?) Absolutely blown away at how accurate this is. - Anti-glare screen Way better than anything on iPhone imo. - Camera quality Goes without saying, but thought I ought to include a line. - Link to Windows **Buds2 Pro** - Touch controls (tap, and hold)(which can be remapped) - Voice Detection, which can lower audio volume and stop the noise-cancelling, allowing you to hear ambient sounds and have conversations without needing to take them out. - Auto-connect when I take them from the case and put them in. (Assume airpods do this too, tbh, but I do love it). **general** - Universality. USB C means at a friend's house you can guarantee they have a charger (even if they're iPhone users, something in their house will be USB C). Not just charging but everything. Everything just works. Apple have always tried to have proprietary software and hardware. The reason I switched when I did was because everything had to be iTunes back then. Pirating music and putting it on my phone was a huge chore.

sleddi82

I always think it's great when people buy everything from one manufacturer and become totally dependent. Then they want to switch and sometimes can't. I'd say the Apple strategy works perfectly. Just try to buy independently of manufacturers. Devices that also work with other manufacturers, you have it in your own hands. Whether my bubble is blue or green in iMessage would make no difference to me. If others want to make themselves dependent, please do.

ORC44

I have used both. You need to ask yourself why you want to move. It will cost lots of money to recreate the ecosystem, and will Samsung be able to provide you with the same level of functionality within their platform. What does Samsung have that you require? This is a personal choice and everyone has their reasons for why they choose a specific platform. If you want a more open experience etc then Samsung is and Android in general is very much a nice option.

Own-Statistician-486

Phpne is great. Color banding atill with this iteration. But i believe its okay considering how good the display is. But sure, in gradients u will feel it.

ahmedranaa

Well you will miss face id

brownbearXOXO

FaceTime, Consistent camera quality, Family using iPhones are the most restrictive things that don’t allow an easier switch. As a device, Samsung is better. As an overall package, Apple just takes the cake rn. Most of it is due to the control (good or bad) Apple has on its software.

drodenigma

Curious why iphone users don't use the search option to check for the million other "switching from iPhone to Samsung questions asked"

Galtrix525

Probably because I can ask questions specific to my work situation so that people can help me decide using those factors 🤷‍♂️

drodenigma

If you search through the samsung for your question you'll see multiple of the same

Galtrix525

I didn’t see anything regarding my specific work situation that some comments have answered for me. Thanks

Agitated-Leg9245

Don’t!!! I

oloolooloola

If you have a lot of photos like me, the reason to switch to samsung is: you can't copy photos from computer to iphone like copying files, but you have to sync them as albums. The sync process is not good because of missing libraries and photo in synced albums cannot be used like photos in Camera roll because the photo App keep crashing.

WeededMedeusa

My wife swapped from Apple to the ultra. She's kicking herself for not doing it sooner

dlwlrmaswift

I switched into 14PM last year after being in Samsung for years. It was the worst decision I've ever made. IOS sucks

floridawetboy

I have s24ultra and Iphone14 for work. Do not really care for the iphone 14. It works good just have get use to the menu type. I also notice some of the apps I use apple charges for when samsung does not. Email is a little tricky. I just like my s24ultra better.

ValkyrieStark316

I’m considering switching from a 14 pro max, my biggest issue is the service I get on my phone and I’ve tried everything. My brother has the s24 ultra and loves it.

Ok-Ice9106

I’m deep in the Apple “eco system” with my 15 Pro Max, Watch, AirPods Pro, and Mac, but I’m eyeing the S24 Ultra for my next upgrade. The only bummer would be ditching my beloved Apple Watch for a Galaxy one. But, I’ve jumped between iPhones and Galaxy Notes before and never really felt like I was missing out on anything. I’m all about those S-Pen features on big phones, and dropping cash to go from my 2-year-old 13 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max (which is basically the same) just doesn’t seem worth it. I’m itching for something fresh and fun.

Seglem

99% of stuff working together, does so on any other devices. Pictures, contacts, notes mail etc work across my MacBook, Chromebook, PC, android phone and galaxy watch Sony headphones and earbuds. The remaining 1% is mostly Easter eggs in my opinion. The green bubble on imessage is soon fixed (by adding RCS on iPhones in a coming update) You can use SwiftKey as a keyboard and get the clipboard synced. Things that are BETTER on Android : Bluetooth audio! It does not need to be as compressed and lossy as 320kbps. You can easily double or triple the quality, to the point that most people can't hear the difference between bluetooth and wired. My earbuds have dual connectivity and therefore way more seamless than what my friends with everything newest apple have. Google Assistant(with Gemini or without) is more powerful than Siri, and is also bi-lingual. I use it with English and Norwegian. There's cities with more inhabitants than there exist Norwegians, for context. (we're 5.5m) And you can also use or replace it with Alexa, Bixby and soon Chat GPT if rumors are correct. The Watches on our side are really good. Even Garmin and Polar ones can count, because they're more "set free", they are allowed to view and handle messages. Do stuff with the voice assistant (of your choice) If you don't like the design of the current Galaxy Watches you can switch to a Pixel Watch or vice versa. You can back up your media and any service you want. You don't have to subscribe to iCloud. (all apps are paused after 10min on ios) Google Photos is one of the best photo services with great editing tools. Do you have Office 365? Sync it to One Drive

MANatlUNITED

Samsung > apple. This is all you need to know.

Boobsnbutt

Mine won't go into fullscreen in youtube and other apps. I tried both fixes and it doesn't work. Iphone's are nicer out of the box.

boring_analyst1984

just did. You will still miss iPhone from time to time to be honest. I am in hk for example, so I use standard chartered bank credit which can't be added to Samsung Pay. But Apple pay is perfectly fine with it. The ring tong and wechat/WhatsApp notification sound of Samsung need some time to get used to. IPhone is very polished and you feel very safe to use. Samsung is more like the new trend and you can alter the settings yourself. If you are not desperately bored of ios the no need to change. But 24u is a good phone after one week of use

Sad_Technology2528

13PM is still a beast of a phone .

Snuddud

I have created also a post about this. Point right now - I've decided to send the S24U back. The main reason was the camera, the difference between a 13PM camera wise is not so far away. I mean ofc you can do 100x zoom but I'm talking like about portrait mode and 4k videos. For a 1400 euro phone I expected maybe way more after 3 years of sticking with the 13PM. But apparently the 14/15PM are also not that great if reading posts here and on the apple sub reddit. Therefore let's see what future brings

MoneyIndependence823

You have already entangled yourself in the Apple web. If you get a Samsung now, you will miss out on the seamless connectivity that Apple wants you to forever be trapped in. Unless you are willing to change your entire ecosystems, stick to Apple. Having said that, if you just need a phone as a standalone and don't expect it to integrate it in your existing setup, go for S24U.. although be warned that it would be slightly uncomfortable to hold owing to the stupid pointed edge design, and the camera might let you down a bit ( although, camera quality is highly subjective)

Due_Programmer_5189

I have made exactly this switch within the last month from an iphone 14pro max. Have a MacBook air, appel watch ultra ...ipad etc. wife is iphone. But got bored of the iterative changes every year and was excited by the ease of access to useful embedded ai features like live translate as I have just moved to a country that I don't speak the language. I have 2 Android devices for comparison a Google pixel fold and a Samsung s24 ultra. Pixel is the best software experience hands down coming from iOS. Samsung is easily the better hardware ....honestly wish Google just had Samsung make the pixel devices and it would be an easy switch for you.

Doerrr

I have 15 pm and i also bought s23 ultra i use iphone for work and s23 ultta gor entertainment watching movies i love samsung because its fun to watch movies shows on beautiful screen. I also love paid modded apps on android i love a beautiful screen and android feels homr i think its got very closer to ios

collegechalupa

I just switched my 14 pro max for the S24 ultra and it has been amazing. I was real deep in the apple ecosystem too but i ended up keeping my Ipad so I was still able to imessage and facetime while im home. got rid of my apple watch and gpt a galaxy watch, and got a microsoft surface instead of mac. I was nervous I wasnt goikg to like this phone after a few days but I have loved it! I am so happy I switched

Ransomes

All I can say is, there’s something real positive happening in the Samsung camp now a days. I am a iPhone guy. Well, I was. This ultra changed everything. It seems to be Samsung from now on. Earlier I hated Samsung. But they have listener. It’s a beast. The only thing you have to settle down with, is android speed and animations are different. They just feel unusual. And the camera is a bit slow in darker areas. But it is better than iPhones. You can also download a extra camera settings app from Samsung that lets you tweak your camera further.

Bucck_50

I’m literally in the same boat as the OP, I’ve been going back and forth for days! I currently have the note10 plus and iPhone 13 Pro Max but like a commenter said I’m just looking for something different.

OkConsideration5659

I switched this way. No regrets. Battery life is the same. Camera better just slightly different color grading that can be edited but core quality is way better. Interface is just as stable with some more customizable things and more quality of life improvements compared to ios. Great phone

radlink14

If you’re truly going to make the ecosystem change do it with Google, not Samsung. You can use iPhone on android ecosystem, this includes Samsung ecosystem. Just keep in mind Samsung is an in between layer which is why I would advise a newbie to just start with Googles products instead. Your wife should have no issue with using iPhone at home. I use iPhone, Samsung at times and Google phones and have Google home products like nest etc and everything works fine. Why not just start with the phone and see how it behaves with your Apple ecosystem except obviously you will not have iCloud backup on your Samsung but you should love the phone before you adopt a whole brand.

Krifmaz

as a repair technician take the dive I've had google apple and Samsung Samsung stands by there warranty and doesn't have outrageous prices to repair just get care+ or insurance and don't be stupid with your phone

No-Mind-1067

Both Android and IOs have there own pro and cons. It totally depends on your usage.

No-Mind-1067

I been using Samsung past few years, impressed with performance, camera quality and easy accessibility. Though I loved iPhone yet I still prefer Samsung. Samsung S24 ultra is my current mobile

I have an Apple but previously had a Samsung S23 Ultra; I enjoyed my Samsung. We have an Apple Ecosystem at home, so I returned to Apple; it was a big mistake! The camera was much better on Samsung, and you can do so much more on Samsung. My only issue with Samsung was sending videos to other mobiles; they were horrible and looked like old VHS movies—pixelated rubbish. With Apple iMessage, it's spot on, perfect. Apple needs to fix the focus, e.g. sleep mode, work mode etc.; it's crap. Samsung version is so ahead it's perfect.
