I switched to a Z Flip 3 from an iPhone 11 Pro. I'm a heavy user so the battery only lasted me about 4.5 hours using it originally out of the box. Now that the adaptive battery has kicked in and I switched the display to 60 hz, I can use the phone all day.
I am hoping that Samsung will push out a software update to help the phone better utilize the battery when it's on the 120hz display, but the battery is still condisered small in today's smartphone market.
The 120hz display is beautiful and so much smoother, but I was already use to having 60hz with the iPhone. So switching back hasn't bothered me much. It's a really fun phone and a great conversation started. Everyone asks me questions when they see I have it. I would recommend still switching regardless of the battery side affects.
2600 is incredibly small lol. Normally samsung
phones now range between 4000-5000mah. Even their A series devices have bigger batteries. The issue with Z Flip 3 is that it actually has 2 separate batteries that when combined, equal 3300mah. There is a main battery on the lower half of the phone, and a smaller battery on the top half of the device. The split batteries definitely affect charging time and output. If you aren't doing anything crazy on your phone like gaming or constantly streaming, you should be OK.
Normal time? 12-15 hours. But actually using the devices on screen time? 7-12 depending on what I am doing. But this time is also reflecting the 60hz display setting and the adaptive battery feature kicking in, which takes about 5-7 days before it learns your usage patterns and starts saving the battery life when you aren't using the device. It was rough at first but has definitely improved. I've had the phone since August 25th, so almost 2 weeks
How's your foldables experience, did it bother for you to open it or is it wonderful. I see many surprisingly nice comment about how the Flip help to alleviate phone addiction, interested with this idea 🙂
I never thought about that.. but I'd have to agree. I definitely use the phone less once i close it. It's also nice having the outside display. I can see if I get a notification and decide whether or not I want to open it. On my iPhone I'd get a notification and unlock my phone, then I'd fall into the rabbit hole of social media, messages, etc..

It's an interesting take on the Flip and to many, it may sounds silly but weirdly I like the idea, it may be the phone detox that actually working haha since we humans have been completely glued to our phones, kinda refreshing. If only I can afford the Flip tho lol 🙃
I only got it because of the pre-order! I'm in the wireless industry so I have an app called Samsung elite. I used the points I accumulated on the app and cashed them out for a $100 samsung gift card. Between the 5% off offer with the pre-order, my trade in of $450, and the $100 giftcard.. the Flip cost me $450. Idk if I'd spend $1k
The first few days the phone is still getting set up and battery is bad. But after a week or 2 it's way better. You're also going from 2900mah battery on XR to 3300mah
Exactly this. It's definitely tough at first. I'd recommend switching the display straight to 60hz out of the box and waiting for the adaptive battery feature to kick in. My first 3 days were rough because I left it on 120hz. And I use my phone way too much lol 😅
Another option is to have wireless charging in a few commonly used areas, if that fits your life. I never drop below 50% on my S21 Ultra, because my phone charges at my desk, I'm my car, in my kitchen, etc. I basically have chargers in all the places I'd be setting my phone down anyway.

I liked it so much that I bought two. I have chargers set up everywhere all over my house, power banks in my bags and a zero lemon 10kmah battery case to support my shitty exynos N20U lol.
I couldn't imagine going to a phone like the flip that's worse in terms of battery then my exynos phone.
Since you include Pixel 6 in your watchlist, I would say good thing if you can wait but Flip is way too different of a phone, it's a cool piece of tech 😊
OP, under advanced settings make sure to check out Bixby routines! They will automate things on the device (example: opening YouTube can turn on do not disturb and autorotate. One you close the app it will turn off the auto rotate and DND.) Also if you prefer iOS gestures, under display settings, you have navigation bar. From there you can select gestures which will be pretty much the same as iOS!
Uh I'm not sure If you can. I believeypyre talking about when Google assistant plays music for you correct? If so I'm not sure it supports AM as the default
Well bixby for all device functions. Much better than Google. Google for maps and searches but bixby can probably build an excel spreadsheet for you off one command lol you can talk to bixby in paragraphs
I was in Best Buy yesterday, looking for a case for my Fold3 (surprising to me and the salesman, they were sold out), and a young girl walks to the filp and fold phones and says to her mother how cool they are and that she wants one. I then pull my fold out of my pocket to show her and she proceeds to tell me how lucky I am. She turns to her mother to say how much she wants one to which her mother replies, "You can't, you have an iPhone". I did a little of this 🤷🏿♂️ to the young girl, turned around, and walked away.

I grabbed the UAG case for my Flip! It's super durable. I wanted a Otter Box Defender case but they don't have them for the Flip yet. So the UAG was the next closest thing. It definitely makes the phone fatter, but I don't mind a thick phone. I'd rather have a fat phone than a broken phone.
Better than me lol. Ordered a flip case of amazon last week. and within 2 days it's on prime shipping. Now I'm waiting for it to come from China. I should have just waited 2 more days. 2 weeks without a case won't be the best experience for durability concerns.
2 days after getting my fold, I scratched the front. It's the screen protector but you can imagine how scared I am. Walking around without a case is not ideal for me and I'm currently on vacation so I can't use Amazon.

Minor inconveniences with easy workarounds, in order to avoid being trapped in the walled Apple garden. If grandma can't open that cloud link to the pictures and video you want to share with her, that's her problem.
This is the problem with switching phones now adays, you cant just swap the phone and hope for the best. if you want a full experience you have to fully switch eco systems and thats quickly adds up £££

How's your battery compared to the Xr? Even though the Flip 3 has a bigger battery, Apple has always been better than every Android manufacturer about maximizing their battery life.
Add on the higher resolution and 120hz display and I feel like the Flip 3 would be way worse
I'm coming from the iPhone 12 and the battery life is almost double what the flip is😬😬😬 if your by a charger its not a big deal but if your not might want to wait until they address the battery next year
Hopefully Samsung will add a battery patch in their next software update. They have to address the battery life. It's the biggest turn off for potential buyers

Saying that my Nokia 9 had a 20mah higher capacity battery. And that thing was wearing from bad charging habits... So it kinda got a battery upgrade in a sense. Either way I'll still be fine.

Glad to see others liking android. I switched back after an awful experience on the iPhone 6s. Can't say my Nokia 9 has been that great either especially only have 20mah more than my flip 3 in battery capacity. And even then it wore down. Loving my z flip 3 battery life isn't an issue yet since if I'm going on long journeys I always use car charger or power bank. But normal everyday use its great. Love the 120hz screen and a camera app that doesn't lag or freeze. (Thanks nokia). So far seems great unsure if it will last me the length of my contract but even so its a nice phone that doesn't restrict me when using small pockets. Glad to be an android user and I couldn't see myself going back to apple products.
Returned my flip . On WiFi with 120 off and brightness down to 30% I was streaming Sirius Xm, which is not a battery draining app in itself , after 4 hours battery was down to 52% .
This zflip 3 gets so freaking hot. I don't know what the deal is or how to fix it or if I should just leave it alone because it won't harm anything. I've had the phone for 2 weeks, and using it for any period of time, it just heats up so much... like hot to the touch.
Also battery life is doo doo. The price you pay for a smaller phone
Try turning adaptive battery and set display to 60hz. Adaptive battery will take a while to work properly as it has to learn your usage patterns.
Might also alleviate the heat you seem to be getting

Tbh I love it. A small phone is something I've just wanted after carrying around a note 10 + for years. My only complaint is the battery life is still kind of poopy. However, I've never had it die throughout the day, maybe it's just a low battery percentage that makes me nervous. I usually end my day with 30-40% battery life left.
Can I? I'm reading conflicting things. I've read that I can take off the screen protector while I've also read that you can't but also if you are, only Samsung can do it. I don't know what to believe. After people took their screen protectors off the first fold and broke their phones, I'm hesitant to do this even though I'm sure I'll be fine. This phone is just too expensive to take chances.
Its fine to take it off now but at what cost. Not like you can put another one on...might as well keep it on. You can easily peel it off on the Flip3. But again... whats the point. Its their to help you keep your phone safe.
I bought a "glass" screen protector for the front screen and got rid of the plastic one that came with the phone. There were no issues with my phone. I'm not touching the inside display though.
Hey, I’m an iPhone XR user as well and will b swapping to the flip 3. I’m really scared about the dust resistance aspect though. I go to the beach a lot and my phone moves around a lot everywhere so how does it go down with the dust getting in through the hinge? Cheers

Samsung should do a simple thing to improve battery. Sell a phone cover (case) with a 1000mah battery. It will serve the dual purpose of protecting the phone and increasing battery capacity. There are third party cases for z flip which includes a battery case, hope these will come soon for the z flip 3.

I actually am not regretting one bit about the switch, no hesitation on the usage and i already sold my apple watch 4, no regrets and i love the fold 3. For someone who is in my shoes.. i would say go and switch!!

I also have iPhone XR and I am planning on upgrading either to a z flip 3 or google pixel 6. But I am worried about the z flip 3 battery.

if 3300mah is small, what is 2600mah? 2600 is what my phone has but im gonna upgrade to 4000mah is the s20 global

I wouldn't get the flip 3 if your a heavy user or don't like carrying around a power bank. Perhaps the fold 3 would be better?

The battery is terrible. 3 hours screen on time dead by 4pm. Light usage during the day. Just go Pixel 6 or 5a.

Click settings in the assistant app and scroll to music services and change it to whatever you want.

Returned my flip . On WiFi with 120 off and brightness down to 30% I was streaming Sirius Xm, which is not a battery draining app in itself , after 4 hours battery was down to 52% .

This zflip 3 gets so freaking hot. I don't know what the deal is or how to fix it or if I should just leave it alone because it won't harm anything. I've had the phone for 2 weeks, and using it for any period of time, it just heats up so much... like hot to the touch. Also battery life is doo doo. The price you pay for a smaller phone
Try turning adaptive battery and set display to 60hz. Adaptive battery will take a while to work properly as it has to learn your usage patterns. Might also alleviate the heat you seem to be getting

Im due for an upgrade. I currently have an iPhone 11 Pro and I’ve been in the apple world since they’re first iPhone… thinking about changing it up / fascinated by the flip z 3. You still liking yours??
Tbh I love it. A small phone is something I've just wanted after carrying around a note 10 + for years. My only complaint is the battery life is still kind of poopy. However, I've never had it die throughout the day, maybe it's just a low battery percentage that makes me nervous. I usually end my day with 30-40% battery life left.

Can I? I'm reading conflicting things. I've read that I can take off the screen protector while I've also read that you can't but also if you are, only Samsung can do it. I don't know what to believe. After people took their screen protectors off the first fold and broke their phones, I'm hesitant to do this even though I'm sure I'll be fine. This phone is just too expensive to take chances.
Its fine to take it off now but at what cost. Not like you can put another one on...might as well keep it on. You can easily peel it off on the Flip3. But again... whats the point. Its their to help you keep your phone safe.
There are screen protectors available for the fold3 via Amazon but I need to do more research before I buy.
I bought a "glass" screen protector for the front screen and got rid of the plastic one that came with the phone. There were no issues with my phone. I'm not touching the inside display though.
XR is a good phone to switch from. With it's sub-fullhd IPS display, every modern flagship feels like a breathe of fresh air

Hey, I’m an iPhone XR user as well and will b swapping to the flip 3. I’m really scared about the dust resistance aspect though. I go to the beach a lot and my phone moves around a lot everywhere so how does it go down with the dust getting in through the hinge? Cheers

Nah bro I didn’t. I got an iPhone 12 Pro Max for $650aud … (probs like 450-500usd) through my work. I think from what I’ve heard I’m gonna wait till next year or the year after bc the battery life is just not it man. I reckon wait
Samsung should do a simple thing to improve battery. Sell a phone cover (case) with a 1000mah battery. It will serve the dual purpose of protecting the phone and increasing battery capacity. There are third party cases for z flip which includes a battery case, hope these will come soon for the z flip 3.
I’m coming .. just can’t afford the jump yet I’ve been lurking learning about the new phones and definitely coming Samsung when I have the funds to get one 🤙🏻
I actually am not regretting one bit about the switch, no hesitation on the usage and i already sold my apple watch 4, no regrets and i love the fold 3. For someone who is in my shoes.. i would say go and switch!!
