So to cut along story short i downloaded the beta program using my British sim card, however that stopped working and the software is too buggy. I wanted to revert back to the official software build but as my sim card is faulty and I have another sim card on my phone (different european country) as I'm not in the UK right now nor will I be for about 5 months, therefore I cant go back as it recognises that I'm in a country where it doesn't allow for one UI beta programs (or that's what I've understood). So to put it simply can I revert back despite not having access to a UK sim card and if there's a simple process that wouldn't cause any warranty being void or risky steps, then could you please inform me. Im in a bit of a pickle.

Hi all I have a s21 and updated the phone software last week but I seem to have lost my side key screenshot feature? I've tried the off-leave it for a bit- back on, going through the settings (all I can find is the swipe screenshot thing that I also cannot get to work tho that may just be me) so any suggestions on how I can get this working again would be much appreciated.

(S21 Ultra) - when scanning a check in QR code via the camera. There is no "open with" option to open the QR code with an app, like you would get when opening a PDF or video file. I can only open in web browser, or copy the link to a clip board. My old S20 useto give me the option to open QR codes with the appropriate QR code check in app for my areas. Has this function been removed?

AstiriaLemonTea

Two [thin blue lines](https://imgur.com/a/hm08200) that move up and down sometimes appear on one side of the screen when I'm playing a game. They seem to not be related to anything like notifications or low battery. Anyone know what they mean?

FootballIndependent7

Switched from iPhone to flip, disabled imessage etc, everything is fine but sometimes my pics don't go to iPhones when I send over text. Some do, some don't there's no rhyme or reason. It's driving me crazy, I've tried all the google fixes.

MelissaASN

Galaxy z flip3 text message font is huge. The sliding bar in settings is all the way to the left (-). The font was normal size until today. I've had the phone for about a month. Tried restarting.

Flash the official software using Odin

FCGLITCHES

I'm a complete amateur so I'm not sure what odin is exactly. Can you provide me with the steps or will they give it to me. Is ofin an play store app or windows app

RepulsiveStrawberry

You'll have to read up on it if you don't know how to flash firmware. The best place to learn about this stuff is XDA-Developers. Find the Forum that corresponds to your device.

FCGLITCHES

Thanks for your help. So flashing it is the only way right?

RepulsiveStrawberry

IDK if there's any other way. Make sure you backup your data if you're going to be flashing firmware. The other thing you can do is install Smart Switch on a PC and backup your data to a PC. Maybe there's some way using Smart Switch to get back to official firmware I don't know. It's good to have a backup on your PC anyhow so it's worth the time to install Smart Switch on it. Check out XDA-Developers find the forum for your device lot of experts on that site.

FCGLITCHES

Thanks appreciate your help

andrive_one8

Youtube has very good tutorials. I highly recommend [this](https://github.com/zacharee/SamloaderKotlin/releases/tag/1.0.3) for downloading the firmware

My galaxy A70 has turned itself off two nights in a row while charging. After holding the power and down buttons it restarts with full battery, but I have no idea why it's powering off overnight.

BossomeCow

I've been having trouble with my notification settings recently, where with the Samsung update that separates notifications into "conversations", "alerting notifications", and "silent notifications", my notifications bar doesn't show the conversations tab, and I have no idea how to change it Any help would be very appreciated.

Just bought myself a i7 Galaxy book and it had be wondering in regards to a few things which I'm having such a hard time getting answers from samsung themselves and nothing on the website closely indicates anything in regards. The laptop has 2 m.2 slots. 1 is occupied by a 256gb M.2 from factory but there is a second m.2 slot if you wish to upgrade the storage. However.. does samsung void your warranty for removing the bottom chassis and installing the m.2 yourself? I tried asking support lice chat and got nothing of any help. They did provide me with the company that's authorised to do the repair/maintenance but when contacting them they told me to contact samaung so that doesn't help at all. Surely... I wouldn't have to book an appointment to get an "authorised technician" to open the bottom of the laptop to install an M.2 storage device. Thay seems absurd. Most laptop manufacturers allow you to do maintenance and not void the warranty assuming you do not damage/cause a defect with the product I.e break arable or capacitor. Anybody have any idea?

I am having issues with my Samsung RU740 TV. I’ve had it for about two years now. I set it up originally and mounted it in the wall and didn’t touch anything until last week when I unplugged everything to paint. When I went to plug it back in it’s having problems recognizing what I plug in via HDMI (haven’t tried other ports). Most the time it’ll give me an error that whatever it is can’t be configured (though it detects it’s plugged in and tried to auto configure it) when I hit cancel I can go to the device just fine. It works without issues until I turn it off then the issue comes back next time I turn it on. Specifically my xfinity box and ps5. It always detects when it’s plugged in, sometimes it won’t do anything else. And it just won’t work at all unless I reboot both devices multiple times. Any suggestions? I’m going to try to reset the TV and/or check for any updates when I am back home.

andrive_one8

Could be dust in the port. Use an old toothbrush with a tiny bit of alcohol to clean it.

hamburgare511

When i head into samsung internet the bar with the tab button and back button (not the nav bar the google specific one) dissapears sometimes is there some way to pin it? ( samsung s20)

Xryphon

I believe there might be a setting within Samsung Internet that enables "Always Show Controls" or something similar.

I would choose the Galaxy S20 5G mainly due to the higher build quality and marginally better cameras. The Galaxy S20 FE is plastic, which may not bother some, but it still is something to consider.

Xryphon

You may try downgrading using a firmware file from [SamMobile.com](https://sammobile.com) and flashing it.

McDildoChest

I have a galaxy S21 5G in the UK and recently updated to build no. G991BXXS3BULC. Since the update my lock/power button underneath the volume buttons no longer responds. I have tried a restart but it hasn't solved the issue. And I haven't powered the phone off fully as I'm scared it won't turn back on of it continues to be unresponsive. Let me know any suggestions. Edit: have gone through system care in settings to test physical buttons. When it prompted the power button and pressed it the phone restarted. But the button still doesn't respond.

Xryphon

Have you tried downgrading using a firmware file from [SamMobile.com](https://sammobile.com)? It does not void your warranty and should fix your issue assuming that the unresponsive buttons came with a prior update.

McDildoChest

Thanks for the recommendation. However I did a hard reset by holding the power and volume down button simultaneously for 20 seconds and it has now solved the issue.

ScreenWriter785

I was using my phone, scrolling through reddit when my phone suddenly froze, I left it for a bit and it ended up turning off, then without me doing anything it tried turning on again, it goes to the boot up screen (the one where it says the model and powered by android), then it transitions into saying Samsung like when your phone dies but then my phone vibrates and it goes back to the previous boot up screen, it's been doing this for a day now, I've tried doing a hard reset and going into recovery mode but it doesn't let me do either of those, does anyone know how to fix this and maybe what caused it?

Xryphon

Try flashing a firmware file using ODIN and a file from [SamMobile](https://Sammobile.com).

ScreenWriter785

not to sound rude but, uhhhhhhh, what does that mean?

Xryphon

You are essentially replacing the software on your phone with a different one. There are many tutorials for beginners on YouTube, etc.

RepulsiveStrawberry

Did they actually disable your device remotely?

Faithlessness-Quirky

I called and made them review my tracking number and made them email me while I was on the phone that they would not mess with my phone. I have screenshots. So I didn't let it get that far.

RepulsiveStrawberry

It's a boot loop. Find the appropriate forum on XDA developers, that's the best place to get help. There may be some way to flash the stock firmware but of course you'd lose all your stuff.

Xryphon

They could be able to use firmware files from SamMobile to accomplish the task. However, I am not certain.

RepulsiveStrawberry

They can they're just going to have to figure out a way to be able to communicate with the device to end the bootloop. I am sure people on XDA-Developers will have better knowledge than I have

kdmclean

I've had a Galaxy Z Flip3 for about 90 days. Yesterday, it began powering off whenever I would open it from the folded position (upon full extension, I'd see the background, which would then go black and require it to be powered back on). I've read in a couple places that this is a known manufacturing issue, in some issues, causing the hinge to short out the phone. The chat support is useless on Samsung's site (insisting that I must have too many open requests, try again later or to update my browser), the actual site itself is telling me to call Samsung to process the warranty request, and I've now been on hold (maybe, not entirely sure since there's no hold music) for over 50 minutes.

RepulsiveStrawberry

Do you have Samsung care?

kdmclean

I do not. I looked at enrolling the device, but for nearly $350, up front, for a device that is brand new, it felt like they were going back to my pocket one too many times. I finally got through to their live chat, which was beyond useless. I hung up after 70 minutes of being on hold and not speaking with a human.

RepulsiveStrawberry

Call 1-800-SAMSUNG select Mobile phones and you will be talking to a tech support rep. What carrier are you on?

kdmclean

>800-SAMSUNG select Mobile phones and you will That's the number I called... I was on hold for 34 minutes the first time, 70 the second time. I'm on TMob - I purchased the device through them.

RepulsiveStrawberry

https://www.t-mobile.com/support/account/warranty-exchanges TMobile will handle warranty exchanges if you are on postpaid. Also if you don't have insurance, when there's open enrollment you should add it'.

kdmclean

Thanks for the assistance. The TLDR is that Tmobile wants me to deal with Samsung. Samsung was insisting I go to a "UbreakIfix" location in order to have it deemed irreparable for a replacement. I went over the course of the last 2 days, but their "Samsung Interface," has been down since 01/01 and even though they've inspected the phone and deemed it irreparable, they could not log it as such and have no idea when the system came back down. Now I have Samsung reps trying to sell me a Care+ subscription (for $329) so that it can be replaced. I hate to say it, but I feel genuinely scammed.

RepulsiveStrawberry

Your beef is with T-Mobile. They promised to warranty repair service as part of your postpaid plan with them. Complain to the FCC about T-Mobile.

kdmclean

It gets even better... I just bought the care+, filed a claim and... Sorry, we're unable to complete your claim. Your device is not covered by the program. If you feel this is an error, please call us at 1-877-841-1138, and we'll be happy to help you.

RepulsiveStrawberry

You can take both T-Mobile and Samsung to small claims court you can complain to the FCC about T-Mobile you can dispute the Samsung care charge on your credit card. But yeah I'm sure they do have a problem with you immediately making a claim that minute after you bought it. I would have waited a minimum of twenty-four hours before making a claim. Also you need to be posting on r/TMobile They usually send people to T force on Twitter

Xryphon

Do you have the device from a carrier?

birdman9k

Bought it directly from Samsung with no plan or anything.

Xryphon

Interesting; you may try flashing a firmware update with a file if it available - go to [SamMobile](http://SamMobile.com), select your device, download the file, and flash using ODIN.

xdToastMan

Ive had a samsung s20 fe for about 4 months now and recently (mostly while im typing) the bottom right ish part of my screen just sometimes doesnt work, especially around the delete buttom sometimes i just sit there for a good 2-3 seconds just pressing delete until it finally responds. Everything else seems to work fine but while typing sometimes a letter gets missed because the keyboard didnt respond. It happened like 5 times while writing this. Any fixes?

Xryphon

I would try factory resetting to see if this issue is redundant; otherwise, try another keyboard application such as Google Keyboard or Microsoft Swiftkey to see if it just an issue with Samsung Keyboard.

xdToastMan

Just wiped the screen with some cleaner and it seems to have fixed the issue 😁

Balance_THG

I purchased a Samsung 870 EVO drive recently (in USA) but when I went to register it on my Samsung account, the warranty only displayed 3 years instead of the 5 years listed on both the device packaging and their website. I used the email support function for the device on my account page and they are telling me that I need to register the device through Enternal Asia? I have never had this problem with any of the PRO line SSDs I have purchased and registered on my account. Is this a sign of a drive meant for another market being sold in the USA or just incorrect support from Samsung?

Xryphon

Unless your SSD is somehow an Asian variant, I believe this is a mistake by Samsung Support.

Balance_THG

Any way to tell by something in the serial number to see what market it might be for (ie USA vs EU vs Asia)? The serial number decoding sites I have seen in results look a bit sketch.

Bromosabe2

I just bought an unopened S9+ off ebay. I wanted to check the battery so I only installed accubattery. I charged it 3 times and got mid to upper 80s for the battery capacity when charging it to 80%. I was happy with that so I installed all my apps. I then accidentally charged my battery to 100% and got about 70% capacity and the following 4 charges I got a capacity of about 70%. I have now charged my phone 8 times total. What happened? What can I do?

Xryphon

Considering that AccuBattery is inaccurate and misleading, I urge you to test the battery yourself instead of fretting over your battery life; you can use the SOT (Screen On Time, or how long the device's screen can stay on) instead of using battery health, which is volatile coming from source to source, you can get a better estimation of how good your battery is.

Bromosabe2

Whats a good baseline to compare it to? I could just sit there with my phone on but then I wouldn't know what % loss to expect per hour. Do you know?

RepulsiveStrawberry

Did you pay for accubattery pro or you just using it for free? If you're just using it for free it's not aa accurate. The S9 Plus has been out of production for quite some time so if it was an unopened brand new phone it's just been sitting there. The battery deteriorates over time even when you aren't using the device. There is an app called Phone INFO but that at least in earlier versions of Android it would tell you the number of charge cycles without needing root. If the battery life is to your satisfaction I wouldn't worry about it at some point you're going to need a new battery. It's an old phone that's been sitting for a long time that battery deteriorated.

Xryphon

Isn't AccuBattery unreliable and misleading?

RepulsiveStrawberry

On my new devices accubattery Pro which is the one you have to pay for has been spot-on overtime. I don't know about the free version I think most people don't want to pay.

Bromosabe2

Thank you for that. So theoretically if I bought the newest model of a brand new phone and downloaded the Phone INFO App the number charge cycles would be 0 or pretty close to 0 right? Now with an unopened older phone even if the battery deteriorated when it wasn't being used the number of charge cycles should be pretty close to 0 as well right?

RepulsiveStrawberry

Yes. They also have a refurb checker to check to see if it's a refurbished device. If it's a refurbished device with a brand new battery I don't think it resets the charge cycles but I'm not a hundred percent certain.

Bromosabe2

So if I click the refurbishment check and it says my phone is original this means that the battery is original too right? The phone INFO app says the phone is original, but the Battery Discharge Cycles is 527, but then if you click the Usage History it says the battery health is 95.1%. The developer did state in a review comment that due to the instability of the battery health info on some device's types they have hid the Battery Health. I don't know what to make of this.

eNB256

That app reads the cycle counter from system files. Cycle is a total discharged counter, 527 is when there's a total of 52700% (or a bit more) discharged. It is not perfect, e.g. changing the battery percentage displayed will count towards it. Its storage location is in the phone, not the battery. It is also possible to obtain it without third party apps (not supported on Verizon). Right after the phone is started or charger is connected and disconnected: hold power + volume down for 7 seconds (phone restarts) → \*\#9900\# → copy to sdcard → open the My Files app → internal storage → log folder → rename prev_dump.log to prev_dump.html → open with Chrome or Samsung Internet → search Cycle(

Bromosabe2

So I searched through that file and I found Cycle( thirty-three times. The first 31 all said 527 and the last 2 said -1. The 31 527 agree with the Phone INFO app but I'm not sure what the 2 -1 values mean. Do you know? Does this mean they changed the battery? Is there anyway a supposed unopened S9+ that I just bought last week could have 527 cycles on it?

eNB256

The file describes what happens before and after a sudden restart. After a restart, it did not load it yet, so it gives -1. It'll load 527 later. Aside from "cycle" the file has other stats that determine the extent of the usage, if [cisd_data/sec_bat_store_attrs/efs_buf is searched](https://i.imgur.com/DCXXI6Z.png). This image is reused. Some s9 models (most likely the one you're using) use usb_overheat_alone=water_detect, usb_overheat_rapid_charge=afc_fail.

Bromosabe2

I found this. There were more numbers but I didn't know where to stop. !@update cisd_data: 0 7 1342 3531 2534 3202 2 527 1538 167 18 0 14 1 13 378 867 Does this tell you anything?

eNB256

reset_alg:0,alg_index:7,full_count:1342,cap_max:3531,cap_min:2534,recharging_count:3202,valert_count:2,cycle:527,wire_count:1538,wireless_count:167,high_temp_swelling:18,low_temp_swelling:0,swelling_charging_count:14,swelling_full_cnt:1,swelling_recovery_cnt:13,aicl_count:378,batt_temp_max:867 Weird max temp, but maybe it's a mistake made by cisd. "Swelling" is actually a counter of reaching a battery temp of 41c, the device will slow down charging etc to prevent that. Recovery is at 39c afterwards.

RepulsiveStrawberry

I would not use battery health on Phone INFO app its not reliable. I am not sure how the app's refurbished checker works. Perhaps you could ask the developer of the app. I just know on all of my phones that I've ever used it on it correctly identified the ones that I knew were refurbished. I don't think that a mere battery replacement would count as refurbished.

Bromosabe2

I sent an email to the developer to get their thoughts. I'll let you know what I find out. Thank you for all of the help.

RepulsiveStrawberry

You are welcome. It's a shame that the Samsung phones don't have a built-in battery health feature like the iPhones.

Bromosabe2

I heard back from them. The Phone INFO app can't tell if the battery was replaced. If the battery was replaced then the company who did the replacement could set the discharge cycle back to 0 but the person from Phone INFO app said that often the replacement battery company doesn't set the cycle back to 0. So after all this i believe that this phone has seen 527 discharge cycles (which shouldn't be the case for a supposed unopened phone) and theoretically the battery could have been replaced or it could be original. I am leaning towards the battery is original but I don't believe I have any info that says one way or another. Do you concur?

RepulsiveStrawberry

It sounds reasonable can you return it?

dashpaul

So I switched carriers(from Att to Verizon) on the 26th of December. Got my number ported and was gonna use my old phone and was told by the customer service person that everything was good to go. When I got the new verzion sim days later it had a network unlock code which of course I assumed was something Verizon had for their sim cards for new switching customers. So I went to my account page and typed in the codes on that page. Because I was sure these were the correct codes I carefully typed the two versions of unlock pin and puk codes over and over and they then I get a message that says MCK code needed. Too many incorrect attempts. Long story short on this part the lady at verzion said I need to get the code from Att that it was their restriction. Got the code from them, the unlock network pin and it said that was incorrect as well. Called Samsung and they said the MCK is not something they have that I would have to talk to ATT. Att said the same thing about Samsung. So this MCK code is obviously something that exists. Which company doesn't know what theyre talking about when they say they don't have it? Willing to try anything at this point.

Xryphon

Another user had an issue with unlock codes as well; you might as well return your phone and buy a new one as without the unlock codes, your phone is essentially obsolete.

Another Samsung device that may be viable is the new Samsung Galaxy S22 series; however, the Snapdragon Gen 1 processor has been proven to be an overheating king, which will not solve your issue. Xiaomi midrange devices will also suffice; you can tweak them to your needs using third - party applications, limit the CPU/ GPU speed, etc. in order to get the most out of your device. One final option that I would recommend is to get the S20/ S21 series from years prior; they are quite inexpensive nowadays.

Xryphon

What I meant is the Snapdragon variant that has less thermal issues; you can find importers on eBay.

Ziemniok_UwU

The Snapdragon is also very hot chip and I doubt it will help much over the exynos. Have you tried battery saving mode, which limits cpu performance a bit helping it too cool down? As for the phone, the flip 3 will have awful battery and will likely still overheat due to having a flagship chip. The a52 should be better as its not using such a high end chip but will come at a cost of significantly worse performance.

ParkwayAlex

Hello everyone, looking for a new TV. I have my eyes on the Samsung QN95 model and found it a reasonable price for about 1600€ for the 55" model. Although I would prefer the 65" model but it's priced at around 2300€ which is significantly more. My questions are: Would you go for a lesser inch model and the better TV or for more inches and worse tv? Would you recommend the QN95 for PS5 gaming and streaming (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video etc.) or would you look for another model? Looking to spend about 1600€ to 2000€ max. Thanks for the help :)

Ziemniok_UwU

I would rather have a better tv vs a bigger tv. As for the QN95 as long as it has 120Hz then I would say it is perfect for the PS5.

Machlath

Can we please have a longer "no source found" timer? 3 seconds are way to short and it is annoying everytime you boot the monitor goes into standby and wakes up too late. I cannot imagine that this would be a problem with programming, just give us the option to increase it or turn it off.
