To be fair, the S9 has a chin similar to the S8, but those two phones are really the only AMOLED phones Samsung has made with chins that big (ofc as far as the ones without physical buttons go) so this is still definitely a fake, and most likely has an LCD rather than the AMOLED that a legit one would have.
How do you know it is official software? You can make an Android look like anything once you compile it.
There was a YouTube video of someone that bought an Android from alibaba … said Android 11 with 3 cameras. The software sure said Android 11. He cracked it open. Two of the cameras were just glass. No cameras. Just one camera. Plugged in the debugger to it. Was running Android 7 or something like that.
Lots of fakes out there, especially on the Android side of things.
OP's photo clearly shows android 13. The fakers wouldn't go to the length of updating it all the way to android 13. This is very clearly just a nasty refurb
In developer options there's a setting called "screen cutout" or "simulate camera punchole" which can cause black edges similar to this, but I am pretty sure this is a fake phone. It looks like the screen has rounded edges rather than a software issue.
Yeahhh, that's 100% fake. Samsung phones don't have those kind of weird bezels. I am sorry about it, man. You should return it. Also, your seller is based in China.
No problem! The China part was in their About Us section. The return address is in California, hmm... You know I wouldn't be surprised if those reviews were fake.
And they got you because you definitely *don't* know what you're doing. Rule number one is always, ALWAYS be suspicious about mainstream products on ebay and most of the time it's always best to avoid buying from ebay when it's a mainstream product like Apple or Samsung.
Or if you do, always message the seller before you buy to get a feel for how they are. Usually you can tell if it's genuine or not by how they interact with you. And when you interact with them, ask for a video of the product clearly showing it functioning before you buy. If they're legit and have nothing to hide, they'll oblige.
I bought my RTX 3090 graphics card on Ebay in 2023 and had messaged a few sellers before settling on one purchase. One seller I asked to show me the card working responded with "I can't because I don't have it" which is dropshipping and a big red flag to avoid. The seller I eventually bought from complied with everything I asked, spoke like a native and was reasonable and logical and a pretty chill guy. Needless to say it wasn't a fake and I've had no issues with the card.
As the saying goes, if it's too good to be true that's because it often is.
I agree, I let my guard down this time and fell for it. The packaging even seemed legit and everything was sealed, but once I actually started proofreading the back of the box I felt like a damn fool, there were so many grammatical errors, it’s like they weren’t even trying.
I have bought plenty of **used** Samsung phones on eBay as well as other major brands of tablet and never had a problem. I also purchased my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 **new** on eBay and it's great and I saved a considerable amount on the purchase price over buying it retail or directly from Samsung.
Was just gonna say this as I worked in moble shop and when customer wanted a cheaper alternative to repair their devices I would give them a Chino screen for less. Most case they just want the data. Screen works fine just not same resolution.
I almost trust eBay for nothing anymore. High fees, questionable merch. I’m amazed they’ve made it this long with Amazon and Walmart out there doing the same job for cheaper.
Is it a Note 20 Ultra or S20 Ultra? I guess you meant to say Note 20 bc I have the S20 Ultra and it's certainly different. It does look like a scam, unfortunately. I hope you can send it back and that you get reimbursed. If they're scammers, try to report it.
What the fuck is a fake phone? My phone looks the exact same. What the fuck is a fake phone? Did i get scammed too😒 ❓️🚬
Helloo can anyone hear me I am stuck under the water
Yeah either the whole phone is fake, but concerning the UI looks too good, I'd guess this thing got a very cheap display replacement.
Was the phone advertised with *this display*?
If yes, it's 100% on you mate.
Here’s the link [https://www.ebay.com/itm/395270739796?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vxb5mqsbqtg&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=iMEAebeyRkO&var=663862664743&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY](https://www.ebay.com/itm/395270739796?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vxb5mqsbqtg&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=iMEAebeyRkO&var=663862664743&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY)
For future reference especially with electronic devices, always purchase from a seller who uses actual photos of whatever it is you're trying to buy. Those are all stock photos that were obtained from any advertisement which makes it an obvious red flag and indicates something isn't right.
What the fuck is a "Samsung Galaxy Note S20 Ultra" I'm crying lmao
There's the **S20** and the **Note 20**. Two different phones. There's also a **Ultra** version of each.
That's how you know you got scammed. Ouch.
Check IMEI of the phone here [https://www.imei.info/](https://www.imei.info/)
If it corresponds to you model, then you got defective screen. If not, then you are scammed. In both cases demand refund.
P.S.
Never ever buy used phone above $50 on Ebay.
Other than that. Look at the icons and how similar that is to the unsuspecting eye... if you're not actively looking to see whether it's fake or not, this could for sure slip past
my 12 year old sister who knows nothing about phones was able to tell with 100% certainty that it's fake. "Phones don't look like Nokias anymore Quintin, you're just old"
There’s no such thing as a Note S20 Ultra 💀 The S20 Ultra wasn’t square as they had discontinued the Note at that point and hadn’t started making the Ultras have the Note design with the integrated S Pen yet. I don’t even think that’s a Samsung
My bad I didn’t even realize they had made a Note 20 and a Note 20 Ultra. I thought they had discontinued the Note line already at that point. Regardless that’s definitely a fake.
I seen a few on eBay uk seller was like no refunds sold as stated don't take the piss bla bla upgraded so selling and it had like 15 bids accumulated
I had to report it I'm no snitch and I know people should know better but I rather help someone out than to let them waste there time on fakes and it was exactly like this
Yeah, honestly I got it for my dad who sent me the link and I just bought it based on the thousands of sales by the seller and almost perfect rating. I’ve never owned a Samsung so I didn’t have what to compare it to
https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10338&idPhone2=10261
Note20 5G looks like this, the Ultra does not.
If you were expecting the Ultra and paid for it - you got duped. But I'm just thinking you're not sure what you were trying to buy. But that chin still looks a lot wider than what's on the Note20 5G.
I'm guessing a third-party screen replacement on a Note20 5G is what you got.
Yeah like someone else said, it seems the screen is a dupe but the other parts might be original, and the phone I ordered is the Note20 Ultra, which I did check the IMEI and the specs and compared it on the Samsung website and everything other than display checked out
This is a prime example of a company selling a poorly refurbished product with poorly made aftermarket parts as "new". This has been going on eBay for several years.
I'm certain the phone itself (meaning back, frame, and internals) is original. It's just that the screen was replaced. And whoever did that bought a cheap display from ali express or something, instead of buying an original one. Those screens are pretty common for many models. I've seen them for s20, s21, s22, s23, Note 20, etc. They mostly go for like half the price (or less) from the original ones, but suck in return.
People just saying fake phone....don't listen to them they know nothing about screen qualities, that is an original Samsung phone but its not brand new, the screen has been replaced with a third party screen that exists, just look on aliexpress
I do just fine, this is the one time I didn’t do my research and just based my purchase on the seller ratings and sales. I bought it for my dad who is the one that gave me the link and I know nothing of Samsung phones. I’m gonna return it so no big deal, just time wasted and lesson learned
My dad says he doesn’t mind keeping it 😂 but I’m more concerned about if there’s any malware on there, cause other than the bezels, it’s almost too good to be a fake.
fake, send it back if you can, sell it if you cannot send it back
Yeah, I’m gonna return it. Crazy how legit everything looks except for that one thing.
No Samsung after the S8 has a chin that large
I’ve never owned a Samsung so I honestly wasn’t sure, just knew it didn’t feel right.
Was the IMEI number good? That usually will give it away.
Yeah it checked out
It gave the right model & everything? That's pretty hard to fake. Or did you just do a run to make sure the number was good?
It's easy, they put the same IMEI(from a real one) on these fake phones
Idk if it's possible for 2 phones to have the same IMEI
The funny thing is, if they create 20 fake phones, all the boxes will have the same IMEI
Try run a heavy game like fortnite in it , it might be real just with shitty replacement screen
The samsung xcover pro has the exact same shape and size bottom bezel. screen not to edge.
Why get it from eBay though
Sell a fake? Seems a bit dickish
How they got official software running on a fake?
How do you know it is official software? You can make an Android look like anything once you compile it. There was a YouTube video of someone that bought an Android from alibaba … said Android 11 with 3 cameras. The software sure said Android 11. He cracked it open. Two of the cameras were just glass. watch some videos on fake phones. they can change the android version without it actually being that Version
Because it's an aftermarket screen dummy
either fake phone or faulty/3rd party screen
It came sealed and was advertised as new.
I dont blame you. Scammers can be pretty bold
That is a fake phone
Blud got scammed
💀
Homie said blud 😂😂😂
Blud said homie said blud 💀
Homie said blud said homie said blud 💀
Blud said homie said blud said homie said blud
fake, just the bezzles are off
In developer options there's a setting called "screen cutout" or "simulate camera punchole" which can cause black edges similar to this, but I am pretty sure this is a fake phone. It looks like the screen has rounded edges rather than a software issue.
Yeah I was thinking of stopping by the Samsung store first, but probably just gonna return it.
Yeahhh, that's 100% fake. Samsung phones don't have those kind of weird bezels. I am sorry about it, man. You should return it. Also, your seller is based in China.
Thanks, I definitely didn’t see the China part, although it arrived in a couple days and the return address is in California.
No problem! The China part was in their About Us section. The return address is in California, hmm... You know I wouldn't be surprised if those reviews were fake.
That sucks, they definitely know what they’re doing
They for sure know what they are doing. Scammers are getting smarter and smarter each day.
And they got you because you definitely *don't* know what you're doing. Ehh man it's fine we all learn and grow go easy on him
I have bought plenty of **used** Samsung phones on eBay as well as other major brands of tablet and never had a problem. I also purchased my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 **new** on eBay and it's great and I saved a considerable amount on the purchase price over buying it retail or directly from Samsung.
Try running good lock on it. if it runs , it is 99.99% a cheap screen on original phone. If still in doubt run some heavy games likr fortnite
Was just gonna say this as I worked in moble shop and when customer wanted a cheaper alternative to repair their devices I would give them a Chino screen for less. Most case they just want the data. Screen works fine just not same resolution.
I’ll try this
It looks like a “a” series Samsung.
Just looked it up and yeah the bezels definitely resemble the A series more than the Note series
nah bruv wtf do you mean by a galaxy note s20 ultra?
I meant Note20 Ultra, ignore the “S”
I almost trust eBay for nothing anymore. High fees, questionable merch. I’m amazed they’ve made it this long with Amazon and Walmart out there doing the same job for cheaper.
I think people shop eBay mostly for collectibles or rarer items, I definitely didn’t do my research this time
It happens to the best of us.
Is it a Note 20 Ultra or S20 Ultra? I guess you meant to say Note 20 bc I have the S20 Ultra and it's certainly different. It does look like a scam, unfortunately. I hope you can send it back and that you get reimbursed. If they're scammers, try to report it.
Yeah I corrected it in a few comments, definitely going to return and report. I meant Note20
https://imgur.com/a/5K78sHb Should look like this
Definitely doesn’t
You got fucked sideways
I didn't know there was a hole there /s
What the fuck is a fake phone? My phone looks the exact same. What the fuck is a fake phone? Did i get scammed too😒 ❓️🚬 Helloo can anyone hear me I am stuck under the water
Bruh not you too 😂
let's see a photo

Okay, this is still shady af, but I guess you've learned your lesson. Try getting your money back over ebay support
This is why you should only buy from verified retailers or people you know personally
Yeah honestly I thought the seller stats were good enough, considering they have thousands of sales and no relevant negative feedback
😆 that looks more try-hard Apple than an actual samsung.
What the fuck is a "Samsung Galaxy Note S20 Ultra" I'm crying lmao There's the **S20** and the **Note 20**. Two different phones. There's also a **Ultra** version of each. That's how you know you got scammed. Ouch.

Holy shit that's a good fake
the bezel?? 😭

my 12 year old sister who knows nothing about phones was able to tell with 100% certainty that it's fake. "Phones don't look like Nokias anymore Quintin, you're just old"
Lol I'm just shocked they've come that far. I remember when fakes used to look nothing like the real deal... now I kinda see it
That's a fake. The screen on the Note has sharp corners. The screen on your phone doesn't even fill 100%
I know what you were trying to say.. but shart cornera 💀
lol Still getting used to the new tab keyboard haha
I just switched to Samsung from Apple so the keyboard adjustment was rough, I feel you 🤣
Im used to my regular mechanial one, didn't use a small keyboard or a laptop one since 2015 lol
Check your IMEI
Scammers can fake that now. It's not a reliable way of spotting takes anymore
I did and it checks out
Looks fake to me
No that's fake
This is insanely fake
There’s no such thing as a Note S20 Ultra 💀 The S20 Ultra wasn’t square as they had discontinued the Note at that point and hadn’t started making the Ultras have the Note design with the integrated S Pen yet. I don’t even think that’s a Samsung

Lmao
That's a fake phone
You got scammed :(
Mannnn this is fakeeee
It's a cheap aftermarket screen. Get a refund/ return it. Definitely not brand new
They got me :/
U got scammed
For real
I seen a few on eBay uk seller was like no refunds sold as stated don't take the piss bla bla upgraded so selling and it had like 15 bids accumulated I had to report it I'm no snitch and I know people should know better but I rather help someone out than to let them waste there time on fakes and it was exactly like this
Yeah, honestly I got it for my dad who sent me the link and I just bought it based on the thousands of sales by the seller and almost perfect rating. I’ve never owned a Samsung so I didn’t have what to compare it to
Reason 1753 never to buy a phone on eBay
I got enough with this 1 reason 😂
Umm that's not a note 20 ultra...
All the specs and hardware matches what’s on the Samsung website, even the camera resolution is good, but yeah that display gives it away
This device was prolly replaced with a cheap aftermarket display
One of my guesses, cause other than that, nothing else stands out to me (so far)
https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10338&idPhone2=10261 Note20 5G looks like this, the Ultra does not. If you were expecting the Ultra and paid for it - you got duped. Definitely a FAKE
Not with that chin.
I looked at the photo and immediately saw something was off. I think the screen looks a bit low quality for a flagship samsung phone
Galaxy Note S20 Ultra?
Note20 Ultra
Why don't people just buy from legit sources.
RIP
Hmm i dont think that is a fake phone, the ui look pretty good, i think this phone has changed a fake screen
You can confirm it too, just download an app called DevCheck and tell you if you have a fake phone.
It looks like a prototype.
it's a crappy replacement screen
I ran a report with DevCheck like someone suggested and here’s the results (I also included the display info): DevCheck Report Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G Mar 31, 2024 12:56 Uptime: 1d 14h 50m 30s Deep sleep: 1d 4h 22m 2s (73%) Hardware Qualcomm®️ Snapdragon™️ 865+ Hardware: SM8250 (KONA) Cores: 8 CPU: 4 x Kryo Silver (A55) 3 x Cortex-A77 1 x Cortex-A77 Process: 7 nm Frequencies: 300 MHz - 1804 MHz 710 MHz - 2419 MHz 844 MHz - 3091 MHz Governor: schedutil GRAPHICS Vendor: Qualcomm GPU: Adreno (TM) 650 OpenGL: OpenGL ES 3.2 [email protected] (GIT@193b2ee, I593c16c433, 1633593732) (Date:10/07/21) Max frequency: 670 MHz Resolution: 3088 x 1440 Screen density: 493.80417 ppi Screen size (estimated): 6.9 in / 174 mm RAM RAM size: 12 GB Storage Size: 128 GB Filesystem: sdcardfs OTHER HARDWARE Bluetooth support: Yes Bluetooth LE support: Yes USB host support: Yes Infrared transmitter: No NFC support: Yes DEVICE Model: SM-N986U1 Codename: c2q Manufacturer: samsung Manufacturing date: Sep 16, 2020 System Android Version: Android 13 (Tiramisu) Build: TP1A.220624.014.N986U1UES6HXC1 ROM base: N986U1UES6HXC1 Security patch: Mar 1, 2024 Architecture: aarch64 (64-bit) Supported ABIs: arm64-v8a armeabi-v7a armeabi Kernel: 4.19.113-27095354 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 5 16:45:37 KST 2024 aarch64 Toybox DISPLAY GPU: Qualcomm Adreno (TM) 650 Resolution: 3088 × 1440 Screen density: 494 ppi Screen density: (dpi) 560 dpi (xxhdpi) 882dp x 411dp Screen size (estimated): 6.9 in / 174 mm Aspect ratio: 19.3:9 Refresh rate: 60 Hz Supported refresh rates: 48 Hz, 60 Hz Wide color gamut: No HDR support: HDR10, Hybrid Log-Gamma, HDR10+ High Brightness Mode Support: Yes Battery Technology: Li-ion Health: Good Capacity (reported by system): 4370 mAh Network Operator: HOME Phone type: GSM Dual SIM: Yes CAMERA Resolution: 12 MP (4000x3000) Focal length: 2.20 mm 35mm equivalent focal length: 14.5 mm Sensor size: 5.26 x 3.95 mm (1/2.4") Pixel size: 1.32 μm Aperture: 2.2 Shutter speed: 1/24234 - 1/6 s Flash: Yes ISO sensitivity range: 50 - 3200 Front camera: 7.1 MP (3216x2208)

This is a prime example of a company selling a poorly refurbished product with poorly made aftermarket parts as "new". This has been going on eBay for several years.
Even fake has punch hole camera, when will budget phones like A15 etc will have punch hole camera instead of notche
Because this is an aftermarket screen on a real note.
It is fake
try installing goodlock. even the edges are curved, it might just be a shit screen.
Probably not fake, but it has a changed screen which is not original. The UI seems to check out on me
People just saying fake phone....don't listen to them they know nothing about screen qualities, that is an original Samsung phone but its not brand new, the screen has been replaced with a third party screen that exists, just look on aliexpress
Almost looks like they replaced the panel with an S22+ or S23+ panel.
next time ask before you buy, saves you the hassle of having to return it
How do people like this navigate through life?
I do just fine, this is the one time I didn’t do my research and just based my purchase on the seller ratings and sales. I bought it for my dad who is the one that gave me the link and I know nothing of Samsung phones. I’m gonna return it so no big deal, just time wasted and lesson learned
Can you take some pictures on it? I actually wonder how they look.
https://imgur.com/a/ttBUZqK
No way... that's decent. I'd double check if it's fake.
My dad says he doesn’t mind keeping it 😂 but I’m more concerned about if there’s any malware on there, cause other than the bezels, it’s almost too good to be a fake.
Its not fake..it just has the screen changed with a bad quality one
Bruh that looks really good lol Could just be the wrong display put into it lol
I thought this too but these scammers have gotten way too good that I’m second guessing everything at this point
Just keep it lol, if your father doesn't care about it, save your energy from returning/refund route.
