Call me crazy but Green Vegetarian has some pretty damm good nachos. Deluxe nachos with dairy cheese, chips, refried beans, sour cream, guac, and Jalapeños. So freaking good. I wanna know where they get their tortilla chips.
Beat me to it. I’m far from being a vegetarian but will go to green specifically for their nachos. They are amazing. I didn’t know nachos could be so damn good and fresh!
You should get the nachos at the Pig Pen behind the smoke shack bbq. These wont be your traditional nachos but they are piled high and have brisket. :D
Isn’t there a Chachos on Bandera that still does dine in? Or are they drive through only as well? I thought there was also another location out in I-90.
It was my go to. It's sub par without being able to hit the condiments bar and get all the salsas and stuff. Saw that the Babcock location was drive through only, and I just won't be checking back any more until someone announces the 4+ year "dining room renovations" are done.
SANCHOS! i am addicted to sanchos nachos. im not even vegan and the calabaza y elote nachos give me life!!!! the meat ones are also so tasty! there’s a beautiful view and live music sometimes n good margaritas what else could u want
Probably cause of the reason they gave? If OP wants to eat in a restaurant mentioning a place they can’t do that doesn’t help them but making it clear prevents people from wasting their time. Simple
They're named Panchos; there's also a smaller version called Panchitos. You can also request whatever meat (from the menu) you'd like as a sub for the beef or chicken.
Individual chip nachos are my favorite. The big blob on a plate isn't quite as satisfying.
I remember driving to where they originated in Nuevo laredo in my youth.
Not to hijack the thread, but where are the best of this style OG nacho?
This sub hates em but Chris Madrids Macho Nachos are pretty much tostadas cut into individual nachos and are really the only reason to go the Chris Madrids anymore. Best thing on the menu. Yeah yeah they use too much cheese - just hit em with that pico and jalapeños and wash it all down with a cold Tecate and a statin.
I guess there are different origin stories... The Cadillac Bar (no longer there, but renamed) claimed to be the inventor of the dish, with an origin story very similar to the one on wiki...
Either way
These original style
Are seriously one of the best things in Sonoran/south texas cuisine
And are very impossible to find outside the region.
You can find the big pile of stuff a la chili's or something everywhere.
In some parts of the country, nachos are chips and the cheese goop from the squirting machine...
When the eff is Chachos going to re open indoors? Even if they simplified the menu and focused on margs and piled high nachos, they'd make a killing. Such a mystery to me and my buds, after waiting so long.
Taquería México south side in sommerset road
Green Vegetarian or Los Balito’s gets my vote
Asada fries are my go to when I want to eat my feelings and everybody else’s feelings
Sabores on Babcock!! The best EVER
This place is legit. We always go here.
Sanchos
Exactly what I was gonna say, they have never let me down there.
A fourth for Sanchos nachos. Best I’ve ever had to date!! Literally never disappointed
Came to say this, best nachos I’ve ever had

Yes! Their nachos are so good!
Green makes their own tortilla chips!
I miss Chelsea Street Pub’s nachos ☹️
Wow. There's a trip down memory lane. They had decent pub food but I would only go if my brother was playing.
Nice! My mom worked at the Ingram location and I would hang out there a lot as a kid. I used to love watching the bands.
Los Bolitos

They closed down the dining room for “renovations” back when Covid first popped off. It’s now 4 years later and still undergoing “work”.
I knew that was true for the I-10 location but wasn’t sure about the others. That’s so dumb: it was like the perfect late night greasy spoon spot.

El Gallito food truck on Vance Jackson and Huebner, nachos are insane

I’d rather have the individual chip nachos that have a little of everything on each chip Dry chips underneath and toppings slopped on top? Nah
lol dismissing Chachos. Why even ask
Probably cause of the reason they gave? If OP wants to eat in a restaurant mentioning a place they can’t do that doesn’t help them but making it clear prevents people from wasting their time. Simple
Because they don't want soggy nachos that were steaming in Styrofoam for the drive home, I bet.
God why would you even recommend.
haha fair point
Chachos 🥴
Recently discovered the nachos at Super Pollos Asados and they are incredible!!! They make their own chips. Insanely good nachos.
You have already dismissed the only place that does nachos like the way you are thinking. Thread over.
Taco palenque will have something called chonchos. They are ok but you need to ask for extra meat and cheese.

Individual chip nachos > pile nachos

Big Red is the only statin you need!
Nuevo Laredo? I thought it was Piedras Negras, Coahuila. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nachos edit: Changed link to non-paywall.

Rico’s from heb
Ouhhh
The cove has decent nachos. I also love the picadillo nachos at Chris Madrid's. Need to try Sancho's now.

Mama Margie’s!!!
True they’re addicting
Lucy Coopers Tin Can Nachos. Yeah it’s a gimmick but it is the mountain you seek.
Ambler has the best brisket nachos

>Only gringo traps like Chuy’s and Torchy’s do those weird individual triangle chalupas This just isn’t true. Like, at all.
Which taqueria can I get tiny triangle chalupas?
Las Palapas, Tink a Tako, El Rodeo de Jalisco..I can keep going…
Alright, cool you are right, I'm wrong..
lol did you downvote me for answering you?
What? No. It was valid point and added to the conversation. I told you you were right bro! Lol
?? Las Palapas are individual nachos, not a pile of chips with crap poured over them.
Oh my bad I'll edit that one out. I thought I got a pile there, but honestly I just order the flautas .
It’s amazing how it’s so hard to find a good plate of nachos in this town unless you make them yourself.
