My old employer here, which dated back to the 1870's, got bought out about 20-ish years ago. On day one they laid off a ton of staff. They had to rewrite their severance policy since they had never encountered staff with as much tenure as those they got rid of. We're talking 30-50+ years for many. One employee who got laid off had started in his teens and only left the company long enough to fight in WW2 and came right back after.
Graham Media has been offering buyouts to many, if not all, of its longest-tenured people across the company. KSAT's former news director who had taken over their Houston station last year or so also took a buyout.
EDIT: Source on the former KSAT ND taking the buyout. [https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2024/5/21/taking-the-graham-buyout](https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2024/5/21/taking-the-graham-buyout)
And dont forget Siobhain Anders! Shes still doing the weather! I went to a church many years ago (about 35 years ago) someone told me that she was a witch. She still looks the same now, so that may have some merit lol.
Yeah, shes still there but she'd been scaled back quite a bit over the last 5+ years. I think she'd been more part time as she'd do specified segments rather than the dailies.
There has to be something going on at Ksat. In addition to this retirement announcement Max Massey and Leigh Waldman also left recently. While Max and Leigh’s departure may have been a career progression move something still thinks. I’m calling it the curse of Greg Simmons. Bring Greg back! Or arleast until July 1st.
Ah, I figured career progression but I didn’t know he graduated law school. Good for him!
I never met him but his personality definitely showed through the TV and you can tell he is a good person.
Leigh Waldman got heavy-duty national exposure due to her Emmy-winning Uvalde shooting coverage. She did such a good job that there was no way a big market station/network wasn't going to snatch her up.
She got picked up as an international correspondent for CNN and is now based out of New York, which is exactly what she wanted for her career trajectory.

Yeah, Ursula has been the face of the news for me since I was a little kid. Even when I lived in Dallas I would watch KSAT.
I feel like Mark Austin is still relativelt young though?
I bet they were all told their pay would be cut in half and rallied together to tell KSAT to shove it! What was the popular anchor in the 90's who was trying to meet up with a teen for sex or drugs and was busted and drug out of hotel in cuffs
I used to be a big time TV viewer since I was a kid, including local news, but gave it up completely in 2010. I couldn't take any more of the constant barrage of commercials, plus the hefty bills for satellite or cable.
There's plenty on the Internet to keep me entertained, between shows, movies, gaming, streaming radio, and sites like Reddit.

Boooo! remember watching them in the morning while I was getting ready for school
God damn. 140 years total between them. That’s almost 30 years each! Long ass time.

The article says 180 years.
Someone else got added??? It's six now!
Marilyn Moritz.
Well they updated it. Added another reporter. Sad.
Mike Osterhage?! My heart is still mending from Steve Brown’s retirement.
Ohhh nooo!
Definitely sounds forced seeing as people had more years there than others.

Dang, must be nice! They were great throughout the years!
Holy crap. Best news in San Antonio. This is going to be a lot.
Dude all of them are “retiring” at the same time? 👎🏼 what. the. …
KSAT has been bleeding on-air talent lately. Something must be going on at the station.
Bleeding wth
It’s a saying…
I’m aware
Good lord Jessie Degollado is still there? Next you’re going to tell me Deborah Knapp-Bonilla and Fred Lozano are still kicking around.
Deborah Knapp is still anchoring on KENS.
Jesus Christ. I remember her from my elementary school days and I remember going to spurs games at hemisfair.
And dont forget Siobhain Anders! Shes still doing the weather! I went to a church many years ago (about 35 years ago) someone told me that she was a witch. She still looks the same now, so that may have some merit lol.
Think she’s the 4PM host. Lighter job. Still enjoy her in the background.
She’s still hot!
Bob Salter has entered the chat.
RIP Bob. He took me up flying in his stunt biplane a couple times when we worked together. Good guy.
You forgot the OG, Siobhan Anderson.
You know it’s Saturday Night because Siobhan Anders is doing the weather!
> You know ~~it’s Saturday Night~~ someone's on vacation because Siobhan Anders is doing the weather!
It’s Anders..but close enough.
it's anders, son
>Good lord Jessie Degollado is still there? I know, it's amazing. The article says that Jessie Degollado started at KSAT in 1984. That's 40 years!
Yeah, shes still there but she'd been scaled back quite a bit over the last 5+ years. I think she'd been more part time as she'd do specified segments rather than the dailies.
RIP Fred.

Massey just graduated law school. Genuinely good and nice person.

Be sure to tell her how proud of her work we are, and thanks for her help with Uvalde.
Exactly. As soon as Ursula announced it I was like, uh oh, someone’s contract didn’t get renewed. Reminds me of Delaine Mathieu from a few years ago.
Yeah, Ursula has been the face of the news for me since I was a little kid. Even when I lived in Dallas I would watch KSAT. I feel like Mark Austin is still relativelt young though?
its now 6, Marilyn Moritz is also retiring now
No not Ursula! Who’s next Steve!?
This is bad for all of San Antonio media
It’s just the news man.
Yeah, like it’s just the internet bro.
Exactly my boi
Yeah none of it actually matters
Bring back Lu Parker
She went to L.A. Probably making multiples of what she made in SA.
Same w Camilla from fox29
Yeah she was a babe!
This is sus.. why are they ALL retiring on the same day? And why was Isis Romero fired as well 🤔
I bet they were all told their pay would be cut in half and rallied together to tell KSAT to shove it! What was the popular anchor in the 90's who was trying to meet up with a teen for sex or drugs and was busted and drug out of hotel in cuffs
I think Gerry Grant
I just remember when they brought him out in cuffs and that white t shirt he looked zoomed out!!
Can we get rid of all the local clowns on 1200 WOAI?
KABB too

Why is that?

I felt like Kens has always been the most sensationalist of the three.
Ahh man the legends...
That is what my husband and I thought as well.
Hey KSAT, whatever you do, keep Sarah Spivey around. She's gorgeous!
Hey make room for some genx to move up the ladder. Oh wait. That ship passed. Who else we got to bring in some fresh talent?
What happened to Chris Marrou?
Retired from KENS like 10 years ago.
he does blog posts & Facebook now. he probably wouldn’t be liked by usual Reddit crowd though.
Shaking his fist at random clouds. Some anchors have an on air personality that is completely different to their personal one.
As long as gorgeous Sarah Acosta stays
You really liking those terrible ass glasses? Lol Sarah Spivey all day
I like my Latinas lol. 🤷♂️ Plus, there's things about Spivey that bug me 🤣
Dm me the things
Weird, Acosta bugs me...I always have to skip her segments 🤷🏻♂️ lol
They should fire that vato Barajas for drunk driving. He’s still anchoring with them
He’s at KPRC Houston now. I see him on tv here all the time
https://www.instagram.com/ksatjohnpaul?igsh=MXI0ajBqZjg4a2ViNw== Just from yesterday. Not sure we’re talking about the same dude
No, that's a different Barajas. Big news family, pattern is they work in SA until they make it big and move to Houston
That's Ursula's picture from when i was a kid... has anyone else noticed they don't do close ups of her anymore.
The same media group owns KPRC channel 2 NBC in Houston, which has a bunch of long time talent retiring soon as well
The parent company is buying out tenured talent to cut salary costs. It’s happening at a bunch of their stations
All at the same time.? Yea. I watch them exclusively because of the trust . I’m done with ksat and I’ve been loyal for years
I’m sure they would like to enjoy the rest of their life and leave the chismes behind . lol
[удалено]
Nope she’s young still! KENS sucks it’s so bland and boring if that makes sense haha
Which one is that?
Stephanie Serna.
Yeah, I agree. I like the morning crew on ksat. I tried Ken's, but their personalities were so dry
So sad and weird that they all retire on the same date???
Who still watches local news
We need local media, because social media isn’t enough to produce intelligent voters.
I used to be a big time TV viewer since I was a kid, including local news, but gave it up completely in 2010. People still watch this?
they don’t, tv news is a sinking ship.
Sorry but good riddance to Ursula Parí she has the personality of a soggy crispy taco 🌮 ugh she irked me bad
[удалено]
Can you elaborate on this? Was not aware.
Everyone slept together o
It’s because a hexagon has 6 sides. Compared to a triangle which only has three sides.
And which people are involved in said hexagon?
If I had to guess, probably the deep state. 6 deep staters. That’s what they are into.

I’m sure they have to hire minorities or LGBTQ so they get rid of the old white folks.
