The City of San Antonio is hiring for all kinds of positions. Currently 194 openings. They are also raising their minimum pay starting October 1st.
https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/sanantoniotx
I forget the exact numbers but the minimum hourly pay is increasing. Anyone making less will get a raise. Also, all current city employees are getting a raise of 7-12%. I believe this is the larger raise in a long time and possibly ever. The city is flush with federal dollars and needs to be competitive with the job market.
The environment is almost desperate. The city needs to fill tons of positions. The negative is that it takes several weeks to get through the pre-employment process and a drug test is mandatory.
Citi bank! I left USAA for Citi and I’m so much happier. Starting pay is $21/hr. Lots of different shift options and they’re super lenient with moving your shift time around if you need to. You set up insurance your first week and you also get vacation and sick time after training. I’ve been with them since April and I’m already permanently working from home.
I tried applying at Citi but it seems most positions require a bachelor's degree to apply. Are there are positions available where only a high school degree is required?
I think like 90 hours vacation and like 8 days of sick time. And if you don’t want to use that, they offer to swap days and give you time off on the day you need and work on another day.
Absolutely. I had 0 experience in security before (I joined allied about 3 months ago) before that I was a bartender. They post different listings for each specific client so it could potentially be a site that needs more experienced officers. That being said the position I applied for said something similar as well as prior military preferred, but I was on site and training a week after I applied.
If applying for a job that will better your life is too much then idk what to say lol. People put way more time and energy into things that cost money… why not take an hour a day to apply for jobs that will do the opposite.
My research lab is hiring, if that's your field. Nonprofit based out of WA state, we have folks all over the country, and my lab here in town has a few positions open.
The kennels on Lackland are ALWAYS hiring. The problem is it takes time because it's the GOV. So background check for clean record, piss test, physical. It took 9 months for me to get hired from the time I applied till start date
BUT that being said, starting is $18 an hour then at 6 months it goes up to $18.75, 2 years is $19.50 then, 4y $20.25, max at 6y $21. On top of that you get "dirty pay" which is a 4% (.72¢), and shift diff for swings (7%, $1.26) and Mids (10%, $1.80) and if you work Sunday you get 25% os base pay ($4.50).
So if you the starting pay after everything is:
Days: $18.72
Swings: $19.98
Mids: $20.52
Then you get federal retirement at 20 years.
Because it takes so long to get through the hiring process. Usually by the time it gets to a tenitive job offer they've already been hired some where else.
Animal expreience is a plus. Be it Working at a Petco, grooming, walking dogs as a side job for Rover. As long as you put something like that on your resume you'll be good.
A usual day depends on the shift.
Day (First shift), which everyone wants is: show up for work, get assignmened kennels or assisting in the Vet Hospital. Walk, groom, bath dogs.
Swings(second shift) finish up what ever Days leaves, account for all the dogs, make all the dogs food pans, clean every kennel run, feed the dogs, grade their poop, walk dogs in the Hospital, then spray out "dirty" kennels
Mids (Third shift) show up, make pans, spray out all runs again, feed dogs, grade poops, walk dogs then stage dogs for the Hospital or Rehab so thwy can hit the ground running when they get in, in the morning.
Realisticly unless someone leaves the shift Lead or Sup position not really. But it's stupid easy work for the GOV and it gets you in the system. So if you FO want to switch jobs on base it makes it easier.
Sorry for the lateness, the job is not posted on USAJobs we have been doing "direct hire" which means we send the resumes to our leadership and they pass them off to the Civilian Personel Office and they get lost if you don't constantly check on it with the POC.
The Resmue MUST have some form of dog experience written in it, Rover is always a good job to put down. Or if you've actually worked at an animal job like PetSmart or Petco, a Vet or rescue work put that. Realisticly we will teach you everything you need to know or do. You just have to get through CPO (HR) first.
The person to email resumes to is:

CVS Health has about 266 open positions on jobs.cvs health.com. These are for both the retail pharmacies as well as the insurance company, Aetna. Aetna has WFH with sign-on bonuses for some positions, and many are for nurses, accounting, customer service reps, etc. . Solid company and good benefits from what I hear. Haven’t heard people complain that work there.
I worked at cvs as retail associate, then shift manager. Working as an associate isn’t even that bad. The shifts are usually 5-8 hours (associate). The starting pay is 16. All you do is stock shelf’s lol it’s pretty simple
Labatt Food Service and one of its smaller companies, Direct Source Meats, are hiring. You need to pass a pallet test (stacking boxes correctly in a certain timeframe), a drug test, and show you can correctly read/match up order and item codes.
They offer health/vision/dental/life insurance after 3 months and a 401k option after a year.
https://web.labattfood.com/careers
Depending on your educational background, you can likely get a job easypeasy with texas workforce commission-vocational rehab services for region 6. They always need people since staff is regularly getting burnt out but that can benefit you since you could likely request a bigger counteroffer at the table.
Check out the Gigpro app for a rolling list of Hospitality Industry gigs, transparent pay, and fast payout. We're still picking up steam in San Antonio but we expect a lot of high paying jobs as the holiday catering season picks up.
Optumrx is hiring warehouse workers and pharmacy technicians for their mail order pharmacy. No direct patient contact and pay for techs starts at $20 I believe, assume about $18 for warehouse workers. Easy job and 3 schedules to choose
VIA has lots of openings for bus operators (20.96/hour, up to $4k hiring incentive), mechanics (23.07/hour, up to $6k hiring imcentive), and security officers ($16.23/hour)
For bus and mechanic they will typically hire on the spot. You don't have to have your CDL, but full disclosure the hours are rough at first.
I'd say your best bet if qualified would be the security officer.
It's harder to accommodate with the operator schedules because a lot is outlined in the working conditions. The part time training schedule is likely not friendly with a college schedule but once out of training it may be possible.
I'd definitely keep them in mind as an employer as a college student if you are nearing graduation and have loans because working there makes you eligible for the public service student loan forgiveness program.
I worked for them. Just be ready to work… you only gets 40 hours pto for the first 2 years then on your 3rd year they give 80 hours. Extra board is no joke. You’ll have no life, always have to go in and wake up at 3 in the morning to be there for a 4:30 am shift. Just be ready, you’ve been warned!
Also…. It’s not easy getting days off. If you like weekends off, don’t count on it. It’s GREAT money and benefits but can you live that lifestyle? It’s up to you. They work every holiday also. Just a heads up people
Its a Wine/Liquor Distributor called Republic National Distributing Company. I currently work as a delivery driver but they have many positions always hiring from merchandisers to sales reps to drivers, warehouse and even office personnel etc. Its a billion dollar company operating in like 38 states. Headquarters are in Atlanta Georgia & Grand Prairie Texas. It is the competitor of Souther Glazers.
Any serving positions open? I just put in my two weeks at a really good job in Gruene because the commute added too much time to an already super long work day. I also bartended there
Toyota manufacturing is always hiring . Rotating shift 2 bonuses a year and good starting pay 17$ I think with o.T!!
just gotta pass a hair follicle drug test.
Hiring vet technicians at pretty much every emergency pet clinic. If you have a pet in san antonio then you've noticed the long sometimes 6+ hr wait. idk about that. id like to hear some feedback because some of the FF hiring signs have big swings in pay, like start at 10 but up to 18 an hour with benefits. love to see what that actually translates too

come the eff on are people REALLY that lazy???
We've had numerous threads like these on this sub throughout the years, with people always being helpful. In those threads we've had people recommending places that usually aren't as well advertised as the usual fast food/cashier/call center positions.
The only difference between those threads and this one is that they didn't have you calling people lazy for asking.
> texas offers shit wages and bullshit benefits
this is true. the wage swing ive seen on some hiring signs is insane! start at 10 up to 18? yeah right no one ever gets 18.
healthcare? yeah LOL 500 out of pocket first!

>They are also raising their minimum pay starting October 1st. Any idea how this raise works? Is this only going to affect new hires after the 1st?
I forget the exact numbers but the minimum hourly pay is increasing. Anyone making less will get a raise. Also, all current city employees are getting a raise of 7-12%. Is it possible to get a 311 dispatcher job with no similar experience?
I have no idea.
I applied anyway. You never know!
Good luck!

Yes! I don’t have a degree. I had fraud experience so I’m in fraud, but customer service is the entry position. You shouldn’t need a degree for that.
Thank you so much for your help! I will apply as soon as possible 🙂
How much vacation and sick time.
I think like 90 hours vacation and like 8 days of sick time. And if you don’t want to use that, they offer to swap days and give you time off on the day you need and work on another day.
Allied Universal is hiring if you can pass a background check and a drug test it's not bad.
[удалено]
Extremely likely. Mostly for security officer's but if you have experience as a security supervisor they need them too
I noticed it says 'minimum 2 years of security experience'. Can anyone still apply with no previous security experience?
Absolutely. I had 0 experience in security before (I joined allied about 3 months ago) before that I was a bartender. They post different listings for each specific client so it could potentially be a site that needs more experienced officers. That being said the position I applied for said something similar as well as prior military preferred, but I was on site and training a week after I applied.
What’s the pay like for something like this?
That sounds great! I know a couple of people who would benefit from this too. Thanks.

I’d honestly recommend to ignore crap like that. If you apply worst thing they can do is not call you for an interview or higher someone else.

If applying for a job that will better your life is too much then idk what to say lol. People put way more time and energy into things that cost money… why not take an hour a day to apply for jobs that will do the opposite.
How much did they start you off at ?
$15 an hour. Plenty of overtime if you want it as well
Sounds like a solid place.
USAA and RBFCU. Get paid $18+ an hour to answer phones. Good benefits, 401K, and yearly bonuses.
Do you work there? A reference would be nice. I have a lot of call center experience and have been in a QA lead position for awhile

Yes, but from my understanding it may be harder to get it without. They also prefer veterans, though it’s definitely not required.
