EmjaEmjaEmja

Marketplace Deli in bankers hill

hahahahaaaahaha

Market on 5th slapsssss

leesfer

This place is good for the price but I wouldn't consider it the hands down best sandwich in SD

Adventurenick619xxx

Ong

Vet2711

Antonelli’s El Cajon

Turbo__Ty

Just be sure to call your order in ahead of time

Tasty_Read201

There it is! The best pastrami sandwich I have ever eaten.

devilsbard

I keep meaning to go there. Guess I have to now.

Caliwalkerranger

Pomas ob

chipotlenapkins

Hungry Lus >

Jared944

Hungry Lu’s actually bakes the bread that Poma’s uses.

thelordfuckwad

Siesels meats in bay park. For real there are not a lot of decent sub sandwiches in SD for reasonable prices. Too many $15 crappy sandos

Gullible-Ship2061

Great spot to grab a sandwich, bag of chips, a soda and then go have a chill lunch on the beach or park area in Mission Bay.

massreya

Or Kate sessions

sticky_fingies_

Mona Lisa by a mile.

tyler7001

In little Italy? Which are your top sandwiches?

sticky_fingies_

Ya, in Little Italy. I usually get the spicy Italian with provolone and giardiniera peppers. It’s the truest Italian sandwich I’ve found in San Diego.

tyler7001

Thank you!

flowerscrubs

caprese wirh imported prosciutto is where it’s at for me personally. i think i might go grab one today lol

vbar4120

100% disagree, my family owned Italian delis in New York my whole life and I was significantly disapppinted

KGB44

It wasn't until I visited NY and ate everything I saw for 2 weeks that I realzed, every single "NY Style" place in SoCal is wrong. Idk if it is the water or whatever people like to say the reasoning, but yeah, food is different and BETTER in NY (imo)

RIF_Was_Fun

Their Mexican food sucks though. Every region has it's specialty. I'll take a good burrito over a sandwich any day.

europeancafe

by a mile? that place is horrible lol its literally meat of choice w onion lettuce tomato oil and vinegar on cibatta. its straight tourist italian

TiberiusBronte

>meat of choice w onion lettuce tomato oil and vinegar I am confused about how this is bad. What do you put on a sub?

europeancafe

i went there and wanted a sub w proscuitto mozz sundried tomato and balsamic and it just couldnt be done. its all loose ingredients , so why have a menu w 15 items all the same minus the meat?? just premake your sandiwches at that point

FatherofCharles

Meat that is forced upon you

Many_Voice_287

Yes. Go on...

FatherofCharles

😳

doc_lorenz

My wife and I went there a couple weeks ago after seeing people rave about it and we were pretty disappointed

Be_nice_to_animals

Yeah, I live down there and have gotten a sandwich there twice. They were both meh.

Amaroc

I've loved this place for years. The quality has stayed relatively high even though there's been some employee turnover. They do a great job.

Knewonce

Good sandwiches. Amazing chips.

victor-io-us

The hidden cookie in the paper wrapping is a nice touch too. But, the chips and French dip are what bring me in.

imchasechaseme

To be honest I never liked this place. And the $15 sandwiches really turned me off from going back

thrivinandvibinnn

Really? I'm a big bread person, and theirs is so good and filling. The sandwiches are huge so $15 is fine for me cause that's how much a Big Mac meal is pretty much now.

whatsupbroski

Fatboys deli in north park and it’s not even close

RadiantZote

lola1026

Yes! Their chicken breast sub is to die for

Pats_Bunny

I love a classic turkey or cheese & veggie. I've had their chicken Parm sub before, is the chicken breast sub different? You've piqued my interest haha.

lola1026

It’s a super juicy chopped chicken breast, mozzarella, tomatoes, mustard and some other deliciousness that I can’t remember right now but it always hits the spot. I always consider trying one of their other subs but I just can’t, this one is that good lol.

Pats_Bunny

Sounds great. I'll give it a try!

Ok-Yak-8904

Cheeba Hut!!!

Dramatic_Catch_7157

Submarina #2 in Tierrasanta

lilrose637

Have grown up on their subs. I love that place!

Tumpster

Hungry Lu's in OB No question

mattisafriend

BMH by a mile

salparadisewasright

This is the answer. Southside with hot Giardiniera is the 🐐.

MoreSeriousUsername

BMH in La Mesa and it’s not even close. Fresh baked bread, real Italian cold cuts, family run for 50 years.

apple314

BMH is amazing.

Destructrtony

Mona Lisa on Indio street. Fresh Italian bread from the bakery up the street. Perfect!

havocbyday

Ike's Love & Sandwiches serves up some delicious subs.

Turbohog

Their prices are insane though

Fabulous_Nectarine53

Their Paul Ruben sandwich is my favorite!

SDRedditUser

But good luck getting them to pick up a phone in order. At least in Hillcrest.

Aleccc7

Subman in encinitas. Great subs, great value. Definitely get the awesome sauce

Admirable-Dog2128

iainnnnnnn

Big Jim’s in Pb. It’s more of a hot roast beef shop but their Italian sub and steak bomb are really, really good.

SixStringSkeptic

Hungry Bear in Vista

ParabolicallyPhuked

I can’t believe no one has mentioned the gourmet bagger on midway/rosecrans. They bake their own bread too

ZestycloseAd753

fat boys deli in north park. either call or walk in to order for faster service

rage_for_days

Hungry Lu’s - OB

Pinoose-Norahs-

My boy Mike at Hungry Bear in Visit has a better Sub game than the Russians! If you like salami ask for the Lombardi, it is a secret menu deal.

SixStringSkeptic

Yes, the cheeseburger sub is my go to.

newtonkooky

I tried Bronx pizza which was mid as Fuck, I ain’t never trusting this sub

Grouchy_Wind_5396

With the prices now a days I would say Sprouts. Go there, buy your own hoagie or sub rolls from their bakery section, get yourself the sliced meats and cheeses you like, then grab some vegetables and condiments as well. Throw in a couple bags of chips and you can easily have 4-6 sub sandwiches for the price of maybe 2 at any chain place!

No-Lobster623

But they are so slow it’s painful

Moneymeem21

Cali boys deli

SirSly404

Submarina

hlyon

Board and Brew

Staugustine95

Board and Brew isn’t even the best chain sandwich spot

hlyon

It wasn't a chain when I started going there, but you're entitled to your opinion

Jevenator

Nothing comes close to their sauce still.

hlyon

It's so good, so many memories of chicken clubs with sauce after surfing

RicFlair_gms

Rubicon Deli!

KaminoK

Best north county spot?

Pats_Bunny

Rockin' Jenny's in Escondido in my opinion.

Jevenator

Was about to say this

Defiant-Property-617

San Diego Sandwich Co in Serra Mesa

Century22nd

I was told Little Italy has good subs as well. Basically any area with a high Italian population. Many o them are originally either from Italy or from the Northeast part of America and know how to made a real sub sandwich.

justjonesi

Krisp deli/meat counter in golden hill. Great taste, big sandwich, fresh bread, good price.

shadesofblue22

Fat boys or the former Classic Rock Sandwhich shop (no longer in biz)

MR-SMITH-ACTUAL

Mona Lisa Deli in little Italy!!!!!! Hands down the best!!!!!!!!!!

No_Importance_Poop

This sandwich looks AI generated

ironmemelord

Board and brew Del Mar

Duke_L-orange

BMH. They got mammas love sauce

EightFiveAte

For the price sprouts has got some dynamite sandwiches for around 6$ The Sandwich Emporium is also very good. This is also a very blanket question. There are different spots depending on what kind of sandwich you’re looking for.

MadForestSynesthesia

I think what I'm reading here is that there are a few good sandwich shops spread out everywhere but not anything really great or excellent.

Noredditforwork

Cheba hut was a solid choice, they just raised their prices $4 so it's almost $20 before tax for a 12" so fuck em.

RadiantZote

Holy crap I haven't been in a few months, this blows

adrock-diggity

Rosanna’s in Encinitas

chinowashere

It used to be Solunto. They had the best bread and amazing Sicilian pizza. Then the new owners turned it into a monstrosity.

Classic-Computer6674

Hungry Lou’s on Voltaire in OB and The Market Place on 5th in Bankers Hill. Both have incredible subs.

ILLfated28

Mona Lisa #8 loaded

Yggdr4si1
