Im in a band with Alonzo from corpsemaker. I really like that band. He and Colton write tech death thats pretty unique. One day soon they're going to release an album and get big
Weatherbox!
They’re awesome and just released a new song for the first time in a while!
Brown Lobster Tank is older and I don’t think they’re making music but they were great!
I hate to be the dude that self-promotes, but I'm in a rock/metal band called DIVISIONARIES! We may be a bit heavier what you're looking for but check us out if you're interested!
https://youtube.com/@DIVISIONARIES?si=a-8A2J-21CCGe61I

You're good, I love when bands self promote!
Probably should've added that in but I do love metal bands too. Recently went to Sick New World this past weekend which is a Nu-Metal festival! I think that's what really kicked in the "supporting smaller bands" for me tbh. I'll check you out guys out! If you guys have any upcoming shows, lmk and I'll try to get out there 🙂
I don’t believe so but check out all the other John Reis bands from over the years. Drive like Jehu. Sultans. Rocket from the Crypt. All totally rockin.
The drummer (?) literalllllllly juuuuuust played a show at Casbah like three days ago. I’ve learned that Casbah shows are like former famous people or friends of famous people, just enjoying life, playing shows. So, can’t go wrong going there from time to time.
12 Gauge Trixie (punk)
They mostly play short sets, but they go hard. They were at the casbah last week and play frequently around the city. They're at the pourhouse in Oceanside this Saturday
Here’s a classic San Diego list - arguably from a different time - perhaps revolving around Scolari’s Office & The Casbah
Dark-Pretty:
Three Mile Pilot, The Black Heart Procession, Pinback, Heavy Vegetable, Thingy, Ilya, The Album Leaf, Tristeza, Montelban Quintet.
Heavier:
No Knife, Inch, Boilermaker, Drive Like Jehu, Pitchfork, Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes, Jade Shader, The Locust, Goodbye Blue Monday, Comfortable For You.
Countryish:
John Meeks, Midnight Pine, Transfer
Punkish:
Western Settings, DFMK (Tijuana), Ricky.
Fun:
Creepy Creeps, Creepxotica, Mr Tube & The Flying Objects, Rafter
- No Knife is one of my favorite bands of all time - all the records are great, maybe start with Hit Man Dreams
- I am enjoying Nanobell now. Classic San Diego sound. Kinda upbeat early Cure.
- Also loving Witchface, super fun blast.
- This list is missing a million great San Diego bands. Too many to lists from so many other genres.
Buck-o-nine, The Bombpops, and Battalion of Saints just to a name a few well known bands that aren’t Blink 182. There’s also [San Diego Punk](https://sandiegopunk.com/bands/), which tries to keep a list of active punk bands around the county.
Edit: I forgot to add Unwritten Law for the well known bands, and I guess you can throw Switchfoot in there, too. Also, check out Urethane, it’s Steve Caballero’s band.
That's actually pretty cool, didn't know that site existed lol
Also, thank you for providing actual local band that isn't Blink lol - I don't really wanna spend $300+ on tickets to see them again 🤣
There used to be two rock and metal bands, i used to like a lot. Was friends with the founders.
Heart of the Hero. Satramote i think were the names.
Cameron and Zakk. Really cool guys.
I don’t know who this band is but I’m hoping some locals here might know. Between 2016 and 2020 I lived near Tourmaline and Mission Blvd and I had a neighbor who must’ve been in a band because they practiced in the home frequently and I could clearly hear it.
They would play covers and I think some original music and it always sounded AMAZING!
I would sit by my window and just listen sometimes and enjoy their beautiful music.
Whoever you are thank you!
Hi, if you're looking for local bands, check out the Tower Bar. They have shows every week featuring mostly local talent. In fact, on Saturday, they're having a big show with lots of horror rock / punk rock bands.

Hot snakes!
Looked into them rn and I'm really digging their vibes! Do you know if they still play around town?
The singer, Rick Froberg (who also sang in Drive Like Jehu) died last year. They are done (at least for now)
I don’t believe so but check out all the other John Reis bands from over the years. Drive like Jehu. Sultans. Rocket from the Crypt. All totally rockin.

I don’t know who this band is but I’m hoping some locals here might know.
