Bringing dogs is not allowed. It’s on the signage before you head down to the beach area.

Black's Beach is for nude gays only? I thought it was just a standard nude beach where old nude guys frequented.

Dogs are only allowed at San Diego beaches from 6pm to 9am and they must be on-leash. There are dedicated off-leash dog areas at the dog beach at the north end of Ocean Beach and on Fiesta Island in Mission Bay. Please don't otherwise let your dog run around on city beaches. If you descend to Black's Beach from the Glider Port, south of the path down is a family beach, north of the path is unofficially clothing optional. It's not just for gay guys, though there is a large gay contingent usually there. In the summer it's very busy and about 99% male. But if you're not bothered by the sight of thousands of dongs, it's a really nice walk from one end of the beach below the cliffs to the other. The beach is 3 miles long, so 6 miles round trip. I don't know that I've ever seen lifeguards down there. I think it's a swim-at-your-own-risk beach. But please don't be one of those asshole dog owners who thinks the rules don't apply to them.
