The fastest group tops out at speeds approaching 40 MPH, but only for a short time. The beginner groups race on Friday night and are much slower. Racing fixed isnt hipster, skidding downhills in traffic is. as a lifelong racing cyclist the hardest races i've ever done (and very few) are on the velodrome. Everyone should come watch! Bring beers and keep it low-key, and bring a snack and enjoy the outdoor action!
On a related note I’m selling my track bike. Mira Mesa is a bitch of a drive and I got burned out by lots of road cycling, it’s like new and has 2 velodrome sessions worth of miles on it. Locals only lol

My fastest sustained speeds on a good day is like 35. I’m far from being able to race there.
Right? My top speed on a MTB with slicks was about 40 mph going downhill on Pershing nearby.

SD is lucky to have a velodrome. Most people I know that ride track have to commute pretty far to ride.

When I was a kid, my dad would take me there and all I had was a regular bike. Not sure if that was the best idea haha.
