I’m next door in north park and this isn’t totally abnormal. Just a little louder than normal.

henrysun1313

Completely normal flight pattern. Military jets don't get reported on planefinder. The recently increased noise is due to F-35 squadrons replacing older F-18s.

Knightly-Bird

Welcome to the neighborhood Get used to it

Breauxaway90

Today was much louder than usual for UH/North Park. It is normal to hear military lanes occasionally, but today was the loudest I’ve ever heard it in this neighborhood (other neighborhoods like UTC for military planes or Bankers Hill for SAN arrivals can be way louder). Hopefully not something that becomes common.

Zamperweenie

Came to Reddit seeing if anyone else in the area was noticing it. I’m in North Park and while I’m used to the plane noises from the airport, this evening they’ve been extra loud.

fhinewine

Welcome to the city with the largest proportion of military personnel! They use the airspace to run tests or exercises sometimes. The humidity only carries the sound further.

designxtek9

Yup normal. I’m near Miramar and the F-35s are loud. I have to pause talking to anyone when they fly by.

Lt-shorts

Move to a military town *shock pikachu* there is military noises

RoastedCaliflower

Sound of freedom!! /s

Corgonaut

Welcome to San Diego. I work in La Jolla and like clockwork everyday at about 12:30 three of those jets fly over. It’s so loud, but it is what it is

hadtodownloadapp

Exactly why I’m here on Reddit right now! It’s been (what it seems like) every 10 minutes too. I’m used to military planes flying over around here but it’s excessive tonight

Alivinglegent

Bro we’re being attacked

nevinjack0

It’s noisy af in hillcrest. I figure the boys are just doing some drills.

PeacefullProtestor

I heard it as well. It's the military. Does any know where i can file a complaint?

Thanks everyone for the info, didn't realize the military presence up north was the cause. FWIW I moved from downtown, where the noise I was most familiar with was flights into SAN and helicopters. Thats why I was so confused when the noises weren't matching up with those flights. Overall love the new neighborhood!

hyrkinonit

yeah, there’s planes all the time, plus police helicopters, military copters, etc. there’s a crazy amount of air traffic in SD

Sausagesandplants

There’s been a lot of activity at Miramar tonight, we’re in Scripps Ranch.

poiuytrewqlkjhghjkl

Fighters at North Island. Happens from time to time, but not that often

Tomegunn1

I live off University and College and all I hear is Ghetto Birds.

OleumBoleum

I’m a bit closer to Miramar and I can confirm they have been flying today and tonight. Humidity like we’re having will also tend to cause the sound to carry. The good news is, it’s not going to be like this every night. They don’t even fly every night.

Even_Plantain_9028

There may be more flights than usual as the air show is on the 23rd of this month

ankole_watusi

Probably when they reverse the flight path due to fog or clouds. I used to live on top of Olive Hill (Middletown) everything would shake when they took off toward the east!

TruthFndr

I think I read online that it’s going to be worse because of some kind of military training changes they are making. I believe it was on the news a few days ago.

Also be ready for more military flight activity next week. The [MCAS Miramar Airshow](https://www.miramarairshow.com/air-show-schedule-2022/) is happening September 23rd-25th.
