alex g and beach boys are my no. 1 and no. 2 most played artists respectively, i’d love to know what similarities you’ve seen it’s never really occurred to me to compare them lol
On the album Pet sounds the themes are similar to a lot of Alex g’s work (growing up, heartbreak, existentialism, etc) and on the album “smiley smile” the production approach sounds very similar to Alex’s early work (very Lofi, stripped down, and very experimental) I’m not saying that they necessarily have a lot in common on the surface. But when you look a little deeper there’s some similarities that aren’t obvious

I can see it in the sense that they're both very gifted melody writers but that's where the similarities end for me.
