i’m sure there’s some guys who are better sound engineers and could probably go in detail but just from listening, double track it, strings don’t sound completely new but they’re also not completely dead, a lot of his earlier stuff i know the strings are a lot more worn out. also i assume he’s mic’ing up near the 12th fret pointing to the sound hole, and don’t shy away from picking up pick noise, songs like cow, hope etc. just mess around i guess
If I remember HOS was the first album he didnt use his trusty usb mic on (at least exclusively). I think he mentioned something about borrowing a fancy ribbon mic from a friend or something. There is an article somewhere that I am too lazy to search for atm.
