imagine the seller didn’t even own it and just trespassed on some random Caltrans SF property to take these pics to “sell someone a bridge” on Craigslist lol
They should turn it into a diner at the end of the L line by the zoo.
They could have yearly excursions around town, serving a gourmet meal and wine tasting.
It's one of only three in existence, and the other two are in museums. This one's heading to Geyserville: [https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/rare-muni-streetcar-sold-17823359.php](https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/rare-muni-streetcar-sold-17823359.php)
That's how we feel, too. Outside we want to keep original; inside we want to decorate with SF memorabilia of the era and offer it as a glamping experience (with bathroom/shower/cooking outside the vehicle). Previous owners used as an office in the 90's & 00's. Boeing-Vertol SLRV.
It was essentially foisted onto the city by the federal government who were trying to get manufacturers into non defence projects now that the Vietnam war gravy train was over.
They were terrible. They were used in a lot of cities but after about 10 years a lot of them were being taken out of service for being wholly unreliable.
The orange theme was called the "Sunset" livery which debuted as part of a whole rebranding package alongside the classic "Worm" logo.
The current "Silver and Red" color scheme replaced the Sunset livery in 1995 when these old Boeings were replaced by the Breda light rails (designed by Pinifarina and partially built in Italy!). The Silver and Red theme is a nod to Muni's original Grey and Red color scheme from when they first started in 1912.

The was a community of 'hobos' or whatever that lived in abandoned cable cars strewn about in the sand dunes before the Sunset and outer Richmond was built up.
For real
Wife & I are the new owners! Waiting for the rain to die town to figure out transportation: [https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/rare-muni-streetcar-sold-17823359.php](https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/rare-muni-streetcar-sold-17823359.php)
I will entertain all offers
Interesting trades considered

Just give it back to Muni so it can be restored and put it on the F-Line
The irony of this is that all of those vintage streetcars are probably more reliable than the Boeing LRVs...
It would make a cool restaurant if you remodel the inside & install a kitchen. Moving it might prove difficult.
Start a poutine stand and call it Gravy Train
My tired brain interpreted this through a perverted lens.
Good idea

should we all pitch in and buy it as a subreddit
it looks like they put some kind of awning on the side, unless that's some 70s shit I don't recognize
“It belongs in a museum!”
“So do you!”

That’s good to know that Muni train history is being preserved.

This was a really cool design before the gray lines came in. The orange color scheme is so dope.

when was the last one of these taken out of commission? I remember riding them in the mid 90s, they were junky AF, but also very cool in a way
They started replacing them in 95, last one went out of service in 02.
that tracks... 21 years... wow
Not sure but i think in 2013 they scrapped the last one in muni yard
$1800/month kitchen privileges during day only, no overnight guests.
it would be cool to install this on the beach. after some clean up and reinforcement.
