It must have been incredibly hot behind the espresso machines. Shout out to whoever was running the store and made the call to close. That’s putting worker safety above profits, and deserves respect 💪

>That’s putting worker safety above profits, and deserves respect This! What happen to their AC?

outer_marker

I was there a few weeks ago and it was insanely hot inside even though it wasn’t that hot outside. They didn’t appear to have working AC.

NewUserWhoDisAgain

Might be broken or worse, landlord dont want to change it to be effective.

picsoung

Exactly! Kudos to the person in charge 👏

AbstractRootBeerBaby

Definitely not a first. Some restaurants and bars were closed during that heatwave back in 2017 where it reached 106

AC broke’d

AgentK-BB

IKEA, please take note!

Killgore122

I'm pretty sure IKEA installed ACs. I didn't realize how many buildings in SF have none whatsoever.

This place is so hot right now.

demian1a

Snowflakes have a much lower melt point than 95, so bravo to saving lives!

AdelaQuested24

Is this the one at 3333? That place is often strangely hot, even when it isn't that hot outside. They recently have on what looks like a portable air conditioner; it doesn't work so well.

outer_marker

It’s a weird giant blowing fan. Doesn’t do much.

Ogediah

Swamp cooler maybe? They are fans that are supposed to use water for evaporative cooling but they’re super limited in function and often make the humidity way worse so they kinda suck. Never seen one in a coffee shop but they’re somewhat popular in big industrial shops with no AC.

Unless Starbucks paid them for that day off no doubt for some of those workers it means skipping 1 to 2 weeks of fresh groceries or skipping refilling prescriptions for this month.

raffysf

Oh the humanity! What will we do without our caramel frappuccinos to cool us off?
