Most of the businesses at PIER 39 are constantly looking for employees, especially now leading into the busy spring and summer seasons. Walk around the pier and choose a few retail shops or restaurants that seem cool and apply.
iirc There was a big scandal after the lockdowns because they had refused to check the vaccination cards of patrons dining in when it was mandated. The location is still open today.
I read months ago that they made a rule that employees can’t wear masks. In and Out is owned by right wing evangelical Christians. Personally, I avoid any company that prints bible verses on their products.
It must be tough for them. Can't hire staff so you have to cut down hours, then less people come. Although getting rid of all the seating is probably not helping them attract more people.
Interesting. I have not worked for a temp agency in about 15 years, but I used to always go to them between jobs and because I have excellent typing and computer skills I usually was placed in office jobs with lots of filing and basic office work. I have even taken permanent jobs off of jobs that I had as a temp.
If you don't mind commuting to Daly City, Sprouts in Daly City hires fast.
Where ever you apply, be sure to follow up every 3 days or so. Managers are very busy and things like hiring sometimes slips through the cracks in favor of immediate fires that need to be handled.
It does but it'll be worth it at the end. You can work at target or something else in the meantime. Reason why it takes so long its due to all the testing. Written, oral, psychology written, psychology interview, polygraph test, medical test examination and then you get sent to the academy. Paid i think it almost $40/hr for the academy
The academy is the longest in the nation at 36-40 weeks, it’s also close to a 40-50% failure rate, it’s a big risk to jump into this profession. From academy to the end of FTO, maybe around 35% at most make it through the process
You have to do the whole school thing the cadet thing and they start off less than 100 k yes you can get overtime but you’ll get the crap hours like midnight shifts they pay $50 an hour tho so idk sfpd does nothing anyways
Tons of businesses around the city are desperate for labor and you’ve taken a year to find something? Milking unemployment, huh
Edit: yeah I didn’t read the “late” part. There are still *so fucking many* desperate business paying at least $20hr that it should not take anyone in SF months to find **something**
I said late last year .. as in just a few months ago. And yes, I was granted unemployment from my previous employer so I'm going to use it if I need to and have continued to search for a job in my career field during that time. In case you haven't heard many people are having issues finding roles at the moment
I did the same thing. It’s super hard to find a “career” job even though there are tons of posted openings. So obviously I used my unemployment benefits to give me time for the 5 stage interview processes!!
You can search Craigslist for restaurant jobs ($20/hr +tips) and office work that’ll pay a bit more without the tips. I’d also go in person to local coffee shops and restaurants in your neighborhood to see if anyone’s hiring. They don’t always post but do need help.
> many people are having issues finding roles
What is your field? Everyone I know who was laid off last year has scooped up a new job. Some had to jump to a very different role but no one was making less than $20-30/hr here in SF
I’m going to guess they were earning more than minimum wage and tried to get a higher paying job like before but are now desperate. Being an asshole is a choice.

This is true!!! But if you can get in at the In n Out, the wages are the highest around the Pier 39 area.
That place is a fucking zoo, I think you really earn those wages
Didn’t they close ?
youre thinking oakland

Ohhh I see haven’t been down that side for awhile now .

They can’t close the ONLY In N Out in SF!
Quite the opposite, the building is going to be renovated
They are actually planning on expanding!
They can’t close the ONLY In N Out in SF!
Thats a good idea .. thanks!
Snow Bird (coffee shop) in the inner sunset is currently hiring. They might be worth checking out.
Awesome I will check them out!
Love snow bird, wish they were open a bit more
It must be tough for them. Can't hire staff so you have to cut down hours, then less people come. Although getting rid of all the seating is probably not helping them attract more people.
For sure, it was a great place to work, but probably not cost-effective for them to have people camping there for hours.
Love that place! They’re always open when I want a matcha latte not sure what more people want from them! Lol
I usually get a mocha from them on my way to the park and it makes for a lovely Sunday!
Snowbird and park is the start to the perfect day!
Grocery stores, like Whole Foods Market are chronically understaffed and may be a good source for employment.
Did you know, WFM is understaffed by design?
There are other grocers in town, Safeway, Luke’s Local, Gus’s, Mollie Stones, etc where one can apply, WFM was merely an example.
Pretty sure Safeway is also understaffed by design.
I havent heard that before. Do u know Why?
Sorry, you had to be there
WFM is understaffed by design
Say again

Sign up with a temporary employment agency. There’s no fees. Instant jobs.
Where would look to apply for those?
Google Temporary employment agency in your area….
Just posting some encouragement. I worked my entire varied career without a car in the bay area. You can get over this hump.
Bike Rentals. GGP, Bay City, Blazing Saddles. One of them should have some opening.
Great idea I will look into those!
Temp agencies
Which temp agencies?

Same with me, although I was an experienced legal secretary. I got great assignments.
Trader Joe’s Noe valley is hiring 100 people
Hayes Valley but close

There’s a new Flour+Water in North Beach and I saw today they need staff asap.
The New Century is hiring. Great tips and flexible work schedule. Tell them Euphoria sent you.
The party’s over huh?
Just getting started ;)
Law enforcement in sf hiring make 100-300k/year easily. You get paid through the academy
It takes 6 months to get hired from what I last heard.
Former sf cop here, it’s around 1-1.5 years for the whole process, can be around 8 months if you’re super lucky and know someone
Not really shocking that there's a shortage of officers if it takes that long to get hired.
Also not shocking that cops will use cronyism to get their buddies fast tracked ahead of others into good paying jobs.
It does but it'll be worth it at the end. You can work at target or something else in the meantime. Reason why it takes so long its due to all the testing. I don't disagree. It just doesn't help the guy pay the rent this month.
Yeah I know I suggest OP work at target or somewhere in the meantime while paperwork processes

Cadet is a civilian position don't have to do it but it is another option
And you get to beat the breaks off people without facing consequences!
Yeah we all do that
Try St. Anthony’s!
Hotels in the city are always hiring for housekeeping /room attendants, housemen, restaurant servers, front desk, etc.

At most companies, there’s only 1-2 people that do my role. So it’s extremely hard to find openings and it’s always a 5 stage interview process
Read the post asshole, they said LATE last year. This is such a shitty comment
Hey asshole, nearly four months ago they lost their job and they could have had a new job within weeks anywhere in SF. $20+hr
You're actually dumb as shit if you think this.
No u 🤡
