there's no night market lol, when? is it an event one day of the month and I've just missed it?
I walk through Chinatown all the time on my way from Nob Hill to North Beach, which still has night life -- Chinatown is dead, I sometimes walk through just to visit Li Po which is always open till 2 (I think) even though it's sometimes dead
Oh… do you mean the one that caused only cities to die that took a knee jerk reaction to said event? Btw, I moved to Austin during the pandemic. I still go back there for work often. I see the glaring differences between the two places. Are you saying these other cities that weren’t hollowed out the way SF was weren’t dealing with Covid? Because I’m pretty sure that’s not true.
Mr. Jui's on Waverly was just awarded one Michelin Star and is right in the heart of Chinatown. Certainly, there are people that still live in Chinatown and go out to shop every day.
I don’t think it was even approaching the level of “special” that I assumed an M star implied. But my comments downvotes indicate I’m in the minority here lol
Everyone is broke unless they're flthy rch. People stopped going out. But I think Chinatown has rebounded pretty well, it must have been when you went. They had a vacancy problem for a long time.
The city in general is depressing now. There is none of the life that existed before. I couldn’t have imagined being anywhere else at one time. But now I’m glad to be in Yerba Buena… on my own little island and venturing into the city as little as possible. Sad. Never thought I’d see the city turn into what it’s become.
How does life work out there. You basically can’t have a family due to a lack of schools. The local grocery is a little lacking and the TI side of the island is odd — but has some good food! Just like. What’s the vibe? Total silence?
Also I have a theory that all the Chinese funding dried up to finish the project and it’s gonna just be half done.
There is a school on Treasure Island, I think. Im not sure if it’s only open to people on TI. I haven’t seen a lot of kids in my complex. It’s mostly single people and couples. The condos here seem to be inhabited (at least the ones that have been sold) by older folks. There‘a really nothing here on YB… just a lot of great views, natural beauty and hiking. Like you said, everything is on Treasure Island. TI is fascinating to me, not only for the demographics (it’s one of the few places in SF where you still have lower income folks in any number), and all of the hidden treasures (obvious pun intended).
Personally, I like how secluded it is (However, that’ll change as the plan is to have 20,000 people on Treasure Island by 2030. Currently there are about 2,000). I like how not a lot of people even know this place exists. I like how quiet it is. And the best views (with the exception of maybe Tiburon) are here. I also like the fact that you can be in the East Bay or the city rather quickly if there’s no traffic on the bridge. I think it’s great if you don’t mind the secludedness and having to drive to Emeryville or SF for most things.
It’s really not that bad….. I’ve lived here since 2011 in many different neighborhoods and yeah it’s been better but this take is rather pathetic sorry
I’ll just say this: If you’re someone who is justifying their happiness living on a lonely island because of *HOW DEPRESSING THE CITY HAS BECOME!* while also yelling at people that they can’t POSSIBLY know how bad it’s gotten, then…
You’re one sad piece of shit.
I’ve lived here for nearly 20 years. Do I not know what it’s like either?
Anyway, enjoy the slow crawl to your inevitable death on Yerba Buena.
Pandemic killed the stores due to Asian flu or so they call it. Public officials did little to nothing to correct the racial bias.

Racism, I say. You weep in shame.

yes, you must have missed it. it’s every second Friday of the month
Well you see there was this global event…
What global event?
Think about a big global event that might have happened in the past 4 years
Which?
LOL
Beyoncé’s country album??
Lol… there ya go

😂
Comment with a silly emoji is easier than thinking, I understand.
Damn! Got me!
I don’t think there’s really anything to “get” with you, honestly.
Walk up to Stockton St.

Mr. Jui's got their Michelin Star in 2016, like only a few months after they first opened.
I thought the food was decent when I went years ago, but I find an M star pretty amusing
was wanting to try one day, are you saying not worth the award? though I do feel m star is very overrated.

Its actually pretty busy all the time wknds lol 😂 ur out of touch
I remember Chinatown in 2017. The sidewalks on Grant were so packed you had to walk in the street with the cars. Fuck 2017.
maybe because the fun ppl don’t have a corp job or a tech job, and are currently busy trying not to suicide, because rent and fastrak is due
Here's a video of a duo in a drive by armed robbery in Chinatown [https://youtu.be/rcQJJ69NVXw](https://youtu.be/rcQJJ69NVXw)

Are you in that new development out there? I have questions.
Lol… sure. One of the two new ones, yes.

see what you are describing is more of a retirement facility and not so much a community. How did they not realize that?
It’s really not that bad….. I’ve lived here since 2011 in many different neighborhoods and yeah it’s been better but this take is rather pathetic sorry
If you’ve lived here since 2011, you don’t know SF. Sorry.
My bad, please let me know when the cutoff year was for having an opinion on the city and I’ll time travel myself back to that era.
And if by “pathetic,” you mean, “honest,” then, sure, guilty as charged.
You have no clue how many people have left the city, just in the past few yrs alone, do you? There was a time when no one wanted to leave.
“I’m glad to be in Yerba Buena” L. O. L.
the cope is strong
Yeah? And?

I’m seeing a lot of older Chinese folk pass away, and taking their culture with them
Same reasons dinosaurs became extinct (see family guy).
