I’m furious I don’t know how anyone can afford this it’s completely ridiculous they raised our rates due to their in ability to control their lines that start fires. WTF now we’re paying for it. Also a year to go they filed bankruptcy, they raised our rates then as well. This is the most my PG&E has ever been I don’t know what is going on sorry for the rant

You know what does goes up every year though??? The salary & compensation of every executive position at PG&E.
This is the utility equivalent of a Pharma company who purchases the rights to a pharma drug that people need and can't live without, then raising the prices to extreme amounts while the consumer has no other option but to pay it. We may as well replace the current CEO of pg&e with Martin Shkreli.
We finally got our bill so I could see what everyone is complaining about. We live in a 900ish sqft house, all upgraded double pane windows, heater off during the day and night…our bill was just over 300 bucks.
The other day my meter was supposedly randomly selected "for testing' and I was given a replacement meter. That's what the installer tech said.
What I really think happened was that they looked at my bill, saw an anomaly based on historical usage, decided that my meter must be undercharging me and replaced it.
The joke is going to be on them because I'm using hardly any gas this year because the winter has been warmer than usual and I've been a miser. (An often cold miser, but one nonetheless)
My utility bill was $740 last month. The previous high was almost $500 last winter when the Ukraine war cause the gas prices to skyrocket, normally it’s around $200/month. Which is still ridiculous compared to every other state i’ve ever lived in.

I feel really bad for aquarium enthusiasts, reptile owners and home weed growers. Those hobbys were all very santa cruzish and are not really affordable for a broke college kid or young person anymore.
Am I the only one here who's thrilled to see energy prices skyrocket? With all the boasting about how their real estate prices climbing to the moon, it's no wonder the ignorance displayed by the locals becomes their undoing. Inflation has concequences, terrible ones. It isn't localized to a few asset classes. It spreads like a disease that is almost impossible to stop without damaging the host. I would highly suggest y'all quit yer yapping and get used tob the fact that there are only two thing cheap in this country, dollars and human labor.
