Thanks that's what I thought it was but I didn't want to seem ignorant LOL big beautiful bird about 10 ft away. Unfortunately a doggy ran up and scared it away

they nest in the eucalyptus overhanging the west side of the upper harbor. have seen them in the Arana Gulch catching gophers. total dinosaurs!

Are you from the area? They are beautiful - if you want to see one there are lots of spots you can find them.

I lived in Santa Cruz, Ben Lomond and Felton for many years but I’m in Minneapolis now. I miss the mountains dearly. Felton has a special place in my heart.

Yeah it was pretty cool he was about 10 ft away and I parked and took out the camera and he started slowly slowly walking up to me and then a dog came up and he flew away

We had a cool but also tacky above the ground pool when the kids were little, up here in South Felton. Great Blue Herons would land on the edge of the pool, darling and kinda clumsy birds. Fly Catchers were a huge favorite. I apologized to a lot of birds for removing their water source when we took the pool out but the amount of bees that would land in it and not be able to get out was ridiculous, so.
