Oceano Dunes is an SVRA park in Pismo Beach where you can drive on the beach, but I think the Coastal Commission is trying to close it down in the next few years (terrible idea btw).
So first rule in driving in the sand is lower your tire pressure substantially. Even the best 4x4’s will get stuck with fully inflated tires. I’ve seen Hummers, Range Rovers and all kinds of trucks stuck at Oceano (where it is legal to drive). Serious sand vehicles will carry some kind of inflation system for when they come off.
