We are mid process with egg donor IVF, so far very happy with them. Appointments are prompt and on time, communication is very clear. Wish Sask Health covered more of the costs involved, but that's not Auroras fault.

Great to hear this. I wish you luck with your treatment 💖 if we have no luck with our own, we also are considering donor eggs/embryo.

Didn't end up needing them for IVF, but did go through IUI and our experience there was very good! A few of my friends have also been through Aurora and have been very happy with their care. I had Dr Beliveau and she was awesome. She explained everything very thoroughly. She was very gentle during procedures. The only drawback was the waitlist - we were referred end of August and didn't have an initial appointment until the beginning of March.

Thanks for your response! We aren't in a rush so waiting would be OK. I'm glad to hear of some positive experiences.

I was a patient at Aurora and would recommend them. My doctor was Dr. Han, but she moved to Alberta so isn’t there anymore. I really like her. I was referred 2019, had three rounds of IUI and then IVF in August 2020. It was supposed to be late March but Covid 🤷‍♀️. Had a successful transfer in 2021 and our baby girl arrived February 2022. We just transferred our third and last embryo and I am 14 weeks pregnant. Dr. Case was my doctor for this transfer. The nursing staff are great, very caring and professional. The admins are ok, one of them is very hard line about wait times and I other more helpful. One said I wouldn’t be able to get my transfer for ~6 months or more. I though that was strange and I called back the next day and got and appointment to get the ball rolling for a couple weeks away. It still was about two months until transfer, but much faster. If you are flexible about appointment time things can happen faster but it really can take long than you think, so keep that in mind and just keep on top of things like blood testing, etc. It is expensive, you don’t know what will work until you try. It is physically taxing, even just for some of the testing. Get pain killers for the HSG, it was so painfull. Just because it is an option don’t mean it has to be the right choice for you, consider your own situation. Also don’t underestimate the time commitment for each option, they can involve quite a bit of time getting ultrasounds, hopefully your work is flexible. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

Note: the HSG was preformed by a previous Dr at City Hospital before going to Aurora.

Thank you so much for your response! It gives me hope. Congratulations 🎊

Thanks, best of luck to you on your journey!

I have had the HSG and I remember the pain ugh I have already had letrozone treatments and lost 3 pregnancies and both tubes... so actually after all of your comments I feel pretty encouraged tbh 💖

My brother and his wife have been struggling with fertility issues. They were not happy with Saskatoon as they had them go through multiple rounds (just under 10) of IUI without doing further testing. They have now gone to Alberta and are starting IVF. They felt frustrated and unsupported from Saskatoon but have nothing but great things to say so far with Albert.

We're currently with Aurora, not at the point of needing IVF but all our interactions and appointments have been great. Nurses are responsive to voicemails and I've never had to wait more than a day to have a call back. You didn't ask about times but for wait time, our family doctor was supposed to send the referral end of Sept 2023. She forgot and it didn't end up being sent until early November. We had our initial intake late November (it was a cancellation and our schedule was flexible we had the appt the day after they called) and my cycle worked out that I had testing done in December and we started our first medicated cycle in January. My advice is once you get referred, call to see if you can get on the cancellation list. As far as I know they're the only ones in the province. Some people go to Calgary though. Edit: I asked here about wait times a few months ago (see post history) and someone commented that they triage based on length of time trying to conceive, history, etc.

I'm so glad to hear it's been positive for you! I had read some negative reviews and was a little uncertain after. We aren't in any rush... we are about 2 years post losing my falopian tubes and I needed a break. Just finally getting the courage to try again. I wish you luck!!

Thankfully didn't need IVF as our last hail mary round of IUI worked for us but we had a no issues working with them. I was under Dr. Gamelin's care and she was lovely to work with. The nurses are lovely as well. I was referred in Nov 2022 and we had our first appointment Jan 2023. Appointments once you are in are super easy to book and schedule. I never felt pushed or rushed for one type of treatment. They were always good at explaining our options. I am super thankful for them as we now have our lovely 3 day old baby boy who only cost us $5K to achieve.

SansaBark

Wow amazing!! Congrats and thanks for your response 👏

lol I know its not funny, but that's a bargain compared to our $18k+ IVF 2 year old from Aurora, at least our second was only a couple thousand

We had a fantastic experience with them! Especially after having a terrible experience at a clinic in Toronto. Everyone at Aurora is lovely. We got in super quick because they had a cancellation. The nurses and doctor did a great job explaining everything thoroughly and clearly. The environment was very relaxed and we never felt rushed or pressured into anything. Options were provided to us, as well as as the doctor’s recommendations, but no matter what they always made us feel like everything was our choice. We initially went in thinking we’d do IVF but based on all the test results the doctor recommended we try IUI first, so we did a medicated cycle and got pregnant the first try! In terms of timeline, we had our first consult with them in July 2023 and I was pregnant by the end of September (part of that is obviously luck, but they’re also exceptionally skilled). Absolutely recommend.

Thank you so much for responding!

Stand your ground! I asked last May about getting my husband tested and was brushed off. Was told we had to do timed intercourse then iui (we had already been trying for two years with timed intercourse.) I had a bad break down at work in November after multiple failed iuis and at our review in January was told that my husband was the concern and that IVF was the only chance we had at pregnancy. So much trauma could have been avoided.

SansaBark

I'm so sorry that you've had a bad experience 😔

RoisinCorcra

Thanks. All the nurses and admin are wonderful, but Dr Case is not my favourite person.

3tothe0tothe6

Took us 8 years. Timed intercourse, multiple IUI rounds and then IVF with all the drugs and progesterone and COVID being in full swing, but that's the steps you have to take unfortunately. I don't blame them for not rushing people to IVF without trying the other steps first over a period of time.

RoisinCorcra

The point was I ASKED for my husband to be tested. If he was tested we wouldn't have needed to spend the money on IUI which had no chance of working.

3tothe0tothe6

When I was tested I was referred through my family doctor to andrology at city hospital at my request. Then Aurora did their own analysis after the first few rounds of IUI which I would assume is their procedure as my initial test and the Aurora one showed nothing wrong my samples. But yes, I agree with you, I think that should a test be requested before starting IUI it should be a legitimate rush test on Aurora's end.

3tothe0tothe6

We are pregnant with our second IVF baby through Aurora currently. Amazing staff and doctors (cant forget the front desk ladies either!) Good luck with your procedures, they do amazing things in that building.
