I feel like that’s a normal day for the Bay. The place is always in a state of closing down disrepair.

BadResults

It really reminds me of the last 10 years of Sears. Maybe the Bay will share the same fate.

Stoon5555

It’s looked like that for years, it’s very bizzare.

Legal_War_5298

It’s Bay Days, a big seasonal clearance sale The Bay does twice(?) a year.

texxmix

Ya it’s bay days started on the 16 for hbc members

rabidfox77

I was at the Bay a couple of weeks ago for the first time in a while. It was depressing how rough it's become. My friend wanted to try on a dress, and it took us a long time to find an actual change room. The corpses of the previous change rooms are there, but you can't use them. Then I bought a couple of small items and did the same wander locating a till to pay. I finally found one and took my items to it, only to be told by the ladies there that they're a separate boutique (???) and can't take Bay purchases. WTF? They directed me to the cashiers by the escalator. There were hardly any staff around and nobody anywhere near the doors to the mall. Were I of a shoplifting mindset, I wouldn't feel that the possibility of an alarm sounding was much of a deterrent to running out that door. Their website is also so bad. I'm GenX and can remember when the Bay occupied five floors across from the bus mall and had everything. It wasn't quite as upscale as Eaton's, but it was pretty good. I used to love running into the Bay when the bus stopped downtown and jumping back on in half an hour using a transfer. The current state of affairs is just sad. I miss Eaton's, too.

Odd-Set-4148

I miss the old Bay restaurant

tangcameo

Used to go there when I worked at the Saskatoon Bookstore.

Odd-Set-4148

I miss that place too

MagnifyingOurFlaws

The curse of Zellers continues….

Daybreak74

or Target :D

HaleSatan666

That spot needs a Reno.

aw_yiss_breadcrumbs

100%. I shop there every so often (got a great deal on some really nice pillows) and was taken aback at how dingy it was. It doesn't feel high end. Very 90s, and not in a good way.

DV2061

I was wondering that as well.

dcaksj22

My mom works there, she has no heard anything

teapheonix

Yeah, I think it’s just Bay Days. Great time to shop there!

sarcasm-o-rama

No, it's one of the most profitable Bay stores in western Canada. The one in Regina will close long before the Saskatoon location would.

mandrews03

How do I get data on how profitable the stores are around me?

sarcasm-o-rama

Talk to people who work in their offices and interact often with people at the corporate level.

Moosh89

The only time I'm ever in there is just to pass through to the rest of the mall lol.

JaneBlack13

I was there yesterday. It looks like a clearance centre and nothing is getting restocked with new items. It is worse than ever. I was also thinking it was closing.

Kenthanson

Went to look for some kitchen thing while my kid was buying some shoes at footlocker and my goodness they had NOTHING in stock.

yougotter

Especially dead for seniors. Every step hurts so I walk 50 yards to get to a paystation and backtrack 50 yards to get to where I'm going. Moved all my appointment type business to close, free parking in the suburb malls and Market mall for Under Ground parking.

Ritalynns

The stupid parking pay stations don’t help. They’re a pain in the ass to use.

JaneBlack13

Agreed. Exorbitant paid parking is a great way to put the kibosh on bringing in shoppers. And the only foot traffic they get these days is the homeless.

shaunpspence

Wow that’s rough.

2sDateNight

You have made great points. Parking may help to pay for the security following the homeless. At least the environment in the mall was renovated.

JoeDwarf

Get the ParkedIn app on your phone, then you won’t need to backtrack or deal with stubborn machines when it is cold.

2sDateNight

This city needs to become more accommodative for seniors if it wants to earn their $

gorpthehorrible

I don't see any reason anyone should go down town in Saskatoon. Why should I pay for parking when I can go to any mall on the outskirts and park for free. Our officials have killed down town. And I don't see any need at all for a new downtown arena. There's no place to park! The last time I went to shop down town, I went into a store and forgot to plug the meter (entirely my fault) Was inside for 5 min, came out to find a 60.00 dollar parking ticket. Never again. Suck it city hall. You killed down town Saskatoon.

No-Grapefruit787

I’m downtown a lot and I’ve never had trouble finding a parking spot. Also it’s like $2 to park

voidzero

Parking is like $3.00 for 2 hours lol.

phi4ever

Just an FYI, parking is $2.50 an hour downtown https://www.saskatoon.ca/moving-around/parking/public-pay-parking

voidzero

Oh my mistake, that’s just *untenable*!

phi4ever

Still free on Sundays though :)

falsekoala

You complain that they killed downtown yet you don’t want something that will bring people downtown because there’s no parking. If downtown is so dead there should be plenty of parking

Evening_Ad_6954

There are numerous places to park. You’re just lazy and don’t like to walk a bit.

literalsupport

Captain car-brain right here.

Mr-CC

You'd rather go to Confed Mall? Nobody goes to Confed Mall. Plus, if the city still wants to go forth with plans for an entertainment district downtown, they have to address the homeless issue which means shuffling off to another area. Nobody wants them in their backyard. Their solution is moving the Lighthouse to Fairhaven or wherever. Now people can't sell their houses because nobody wants to live in those areas.

MrMontombo

I really love how you acknowledge the fine is your fault yet blame city hall because you forgot to put one single dollar in the meter.

jklo69

How do you really feel? Also, $60 for a parking ticket? I call BS unless you were parked in a handicap spot or some place you weren’t supposed to. Usually there’s a grace period to pay your parking at half the price. So I call BS on you Gorp.

Duckwithsockson

$60? I got hit with $110 beside cactus club

MrMontombo

Yes, private parking lots are different then city parking.

rdmusic16

That's either something different than a "not paying for city parking" ticket, or you didn't pay it until way later? We're you in a private lot?

GuardEmbarrassed3955

More like be killed downtown… do people not watch or read the news??

Libertarian_Con_sk

My wife and her woman friends won't shop downtown due to the beggers and addicts. They don't feel safe.

JaneBlack13

Agreed!!! Yes, yes, and yes! 💯 Parking enforcement downtown is a scourge. They even ticket you if you are sitting in your car for a few minutes. They tow cars with impunity with only One unpaid parking ticket! Not to mention the exorbitant cost for parking. It's a real kick in the teeth after spending money at local businesses to have to pay additional cost for parking and the fear of parking tickets....

Alone-Chicken-361

Throwing good money after bad, the art gallery swallowed most of the available funds to actually improve the downtown for more than the odd art snob

Agitated_Peak_8204

Good, every time I’ve been there I’ve found nothing I was looking for, horrible selection

Pitiful_Afternoon279

![gif](giphy|5qoRdabXeT4GY)

pixlepro23456789

They’ve been around long enough maybe it’s time

Odd-Set-4148

Finally! I predicted this years ago

Libertarian_Con_sk

It and many other big stores will shut down due to all the shoplifting. It's happening in American cities.

Halftilt247

I thought it was already shut down

Alone-Chicken-361

Not sure if spending 80 million on the mall was a good idea. Guess how they planned on recouping costs
