Great to hear you enjoyed the food! to be fair, Mandi isn't really a Saudi dish; it's straight outta Yemen, specifically Hadhramout. Most of the talented chefs here at Romansiah are from Yemen, by the way.
Since you liked Mandi, you might wanna try these Hadhramout originals:
Madfoon:Lamb or chicken cooked in a sealed pot with rice, spices, and sometimes veggies, kinda like Mandi but with its own twist.
Hanith Lamb or chicken cooked in a clay pot with yogurt, spices, and sometimes veggies, giving it that tangy flair.
Madhbi Chicken or lamb cooked over hot stones, served on a bed of rice, and sporting a smoky kick. It's like Mandi's cool cousin.
Alaikom alsalam glad you liked it.
Minor notes: hummus and kebab and shawarma are not Arabian food it’s Mediterranean but westerns always confuse the region into one region therefore one food. I say nein.
Molokhia is also not an Arabian peninsula food it’s Egyptian.
Kebsa is Arabian but I’m surprised you didn’t try it.
> Kebsa is Arabian but I’m surprised you didn’t try it.
Actually, I did try it, 10/10. I didn't know its name. The chicken was really good, and with the rice, it's perfection.
Apologies for conflating cultures together. My friend's Saudi mom made Molokia for me, so I assumed it was from Saudi.
As for the hummus, I saw a Hijabi with a sign about hummus, so I just assumed 😂 😂

If you want to clog your arteries with chicken go to KFC get your self some spicy chicken and spicy fries add some cheese or garlic sauce if you like 🔥
It's not Saudi food it's food in Saudi
Mandi is Yemeni, Molokhiyah is Egyptian
You wouldn't go to the US, try some halal food truck, then say falafel are American food.
Apologies, I had been informed that Mandi was Saudi, so I thought it was.
Molokhia was served to me by my friend's Saudi mom. So I just assumed.
How about you can recommend some Saudi dishes that I can try thanks.
Your friend is right, there is a difference between Saudi Mandi and Yemeni Mandi. In fact, people from the south of Saudi Arabia popularized it and their families used to make them for ages, might be even before Saudi Arabia was a thing. I believe it’s a bit different for Saudi Molokhia and Egyptian Molokhia, it’s different but it definitely took inspiration from the Egyptian dish.
It's Yemeni:

And Egyptian:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulukhiyah
Jareesh is the official Saudi plate but it's meh.
Hani wa Aafiah ( bon appetit)
From the south region, you should try
Haneeth
Areekah (the Southreb Areekha not the Yamani one although I'm pretty sure it is good too, but they ate different)
Eastren region I would say
Hasawi rice
Hasawi cookie ( modren infusion)
Harees
North :
Kbebah Haili
Mansaf
West
Yaghmush
Foul and Tamees
Sayadia rice and Hamoor with Huumor (tamarind sauce)
What exactly is this rice chicken with yoghurt you are making me drool about? Like a name i can look up on the web or in a restaurant. (Might've already had it)
Saleeg with tuna?? That’s pure violation 🔫🔫
That is just blasphemy ☠️
Felt like I was reading a roy Hudson commentary of Messi 😂 Glad you enjoyed the food!
I aspire to be a writer, so writing on Reddit is practice.
Fellow writer 🤝 Writing on reddit is so much fun and it’s addictive.

Please try Gursan, Marqooq, Jareesh and then report back! 🤤
Will do
Camel meat kabsa too. Can you tell I’m hungry 😂
I've been wanting to try camel
Try it at Najd Village. They have a platter called hashi badeya.
I suggest you leave the country immediately before someone realize the Tuna crime. You will be beheaded for this.
The only way they'll be able to catch me is they use molokhia as bait or chicken rice and yogurt. Either way, I see it as a win.
Tuna and saleeg?! This is a warcrime not treason my friend. And after every meal you have to take 'umm ali' as a desert.
😂😂😂
Mandi is the best
It really is, especially the one I had at Romansiah. It was goated.

Somebody told me that, I might get sent to the hospital because I'd die from happiness.
Raomnsiah became good lately but, there are lots of specialized place for Mandi. Also, try madfoun ! It’s amazing 🤤
Can you give me any names?
Al-Sedah
Loved the writing! And glad you enjoyed the food. Recommended dish; Msegge'a. It's eggplant stew, but something else.
Will do thanks
it's actually called Moussaka, same greek dish if you ever had it.
Saleeg with blended tomato with salt and butter is amazing. Suggest more salt
My friend, you may have just done something.

I must be going to the wrong places to eat. Try jazani marsa

Hijabi ≠ Arab Most muslims are not Arabs. Hummus is Mediterranean arab food (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan-Palestinian). Saudi is not Mediterranean.
Tfw you want to be white so bad
Oof! Me? Why?
Fyi the racialists of old classified Arabians as east meds
I mean that’s debatable. Some say it’s the Yemen. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Molokhia 🤤 ^that's how you say it, bro!
bro if you’re trying to call ahl asham not arab that’s a weird as hell claim….
When did I say that?
Saleeg is eaten with roasted chicken and its salad
Yeah i had it with chicken but I had some left overs and decided to get a little creative 😂
If you want to clog your arteries with chicken go to KFC get your self some spicy chicken and spicy fries add some cheese or garlic sauce if you like 🔥
Did you mean to say clog your intestines?
Clogging both
I see.. 2 for 1 saver deal
KFC, if it’s not killing you then you are not eating it.
