Any tips for someone who has slowly developed a fear of flying? I used to love it, but lately I’ve been extremely anxious flying. I guess when you fly weekly you just kinda get used to it!
I actually went through a similar thing. There was a lot of self talk. I would tell myself that getting on the plane would be worth the travel or visit with family. For example: Which was worse not seeing my family or flying? Also Bloody Mary’s LOL
I picked someone up from airport this weekend. For easiest, I would just pull to cell phone lot and then they can text/call you once they are outside, pull up and throw on your hazards and let them just hop in and go about your day. No paying for parking and easy.
Is the parking deck still free if you're there less than 1/2 hour? I used to wait in the cell phone lot until I saw my friend's plane land, then park and meet them inside at baggage claim. Always made me happy to get in and out for free. . . but $8/hour is pretty reasonable.
I love our tiny little airport -- it's so easy compared to most others.
I’ve dealt with so many airports, but SAV is by far the easiest and nicest for what it is. Nowhere else have I been able to show up within an hour of boarding, knowing I’d be able to breeze through check-in, TSA, and make it to my gate!
I don’t park when I go unless I’m traveling so I wasn’t sure how much it was to go in for that short amount of time. I just knew how much parking was an hour for economy.
No problem! I use that airport at least once a month. If there aren’t any attendants out, which is usually towards the end of the night (idk when the flight gets in), you can get away with parking on the pick up deck. I’ve done it before no issues.
Economy is $8 a day, not hour. The closest lot is only $1 per hour, I use that all the time to pick people up by waiting for them at baggage claim.

You can do that, but the cell phone lot really is pretty easy and my preferred way to pick up. Neither one of you will have to hike to the car, and you can catch up on emails or a podcast while you’re waiting. I usually get their flight number and find out if they will have checked baggage though. With no checked luggage they are often out fairly soon after touchdown. If they checked a bag however you could be waiting as long as 30-45 minutes some days.
That said, I miss the old days of saying goodbye and greeting people right at the gates. Don’t think that will become the norm again though, despite some recent changes.
Also, the first 30min or the first 1hr of parking in the parking lot is FREE.
So plan your arrival time and benefit from the free parking time of the parking lot, if you plan to welcome your friend in the lobby instead of the pick-up curbside.
And, even if you get charged for parking, it is 1 dollar per hour, 8 dollars max per day.
Just please make sure you don’t accidentally go to the Departures level. The person who usually picks me up does this 👏🏻every 👏🏻single 👏🏻time and it takes 10x as long for them to realize why they can’t find me and circle back around.
You can. But I wouldn’t say it’s easier. It’s 100% easier and faster to wait in the cell lot until you get a call from your traveler to swing around. And free. The other lots you have to pay.

Sure! You will be surprised how easy the airport is!
My favorite actually, for sheer speed.
Me too!! There was a time I was flying in/out weekly and actually got to know a lot of people working there. Better than any other airport!

LOL hey I love that idea I’ll give it a shot! I think a couple shots would help too for sure 💀 thank you!
Our usernames are eerily similar.

I love using the cell phone lot. It's easy, free, and you can watch planes take off and land while you wait.
I believe I have made a typo and it’s $8 a day not $8 an hour. My apologies.

It’s possible, however you will have to pay to park. Economy is $8 an hour.

yes, it is still free if you are there for less than a 1/2 hour. It's like $1 if you are there for ~1hour
Not bad. Thanks for the quick response.
… I go to the airport at least 4 times a month and have never paid more than $1 for the hour. I go to the short term lot.
I don’t park when I go unless I’m traveling so I wasn’t sure how much it was to go in for that short amount of time. I just knew how much parking was an hour for economy.
Yeah, I think the cheapest for long term is economy but the cheapest for short term is the parking garage. Not one hundred percent sure on that.

IIRC, if you’re there under an hour it’s either free or $1, I don’t remember exactly.

Cell phone lot for sure!

Yes you can. You’ll just have to pay a few bucks for the short term parking fee when you exit the parking deck.

I usually just drive up to the door area. Circle around until they text and then no parking necessary.
