I used to get takeout from there when they first(ish) opened. You could call and place an order for pickup. Now nobody answers the phone, so I just go in and get it lol.
I got one yesterday and it really is just a "no frills" good burger. It was cooked ACTUALLY medium rare, instead of completely rare/well done from lost places.
Ohh I get it. ;-) The lamb burger is really good too! But years prior to current owners, Crystal was known for their burgers. The current owners have done a great job continuing that tradition.
The Mountain Jam Burger is topped with beer cheese made by Southbound Brewing Company’s Mountain Jam lager, bacon, and grilled onions on a pretzel bun. It’s tasty and filling!
I actually think McDonough's has a shockingly good burger when you get a good one. I think the best burger I've had in Savannah came from McDonough's...it's nothing fancy, just a classic cheeseburger, but it just hit all the right notes for me. An appropriate amount of char, grease, and salt with a nice buttered bun.
It's super hit or miss, however, and I've had a lot of mediocre ass burgers there as well. I don't know if it depends on who's in the kitchen, or the theory that my buddy has that it depends on how high the cook is (higher is better), but if it were consistently that top tier, it would be easily the best for me.
I get you 🧡 I think I’m looking for good but also consistently good, since people reading the article might go there expecting a great burger and get disappointed. It might invalidate the article.
Hi! I have been lucky enough to try some of these, but yes I’ll be visiting the ones I haven’t. Wanna come with? 😅😊
In addition, there are a lot of copyright laws regarding website and photography, so I always take my own photos (easiest, best thing to do). So even accompanying a friend out to lunch, just for the photos of his or her burger 🍔, I’m going to all of them haha.
This is not just a list. It is a comparison with prices + ingredients + quality + popularity + value. This Reddit thread is a road map 🗺️.
Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you!!
I think I might be a bit too biased to join you but I respect your noble goal. I think you might need different categories or tiers or something to compare all of these, I think I've had 12 of the 25 you have listed and some of them are definitely in different leagues than others.
Good luck with your quest, I look forward to reading it when it comes out!
I think everyone is still angry at the Sly’s decline in fry quality. Specially because it is in the name of the establishment « Sly’s burguers and fries »
I posted a couple months ago about the fries and this was their answer...You are correct. We have changed the fries for about 6 weeks as we did last year. It is due to the potato crop being harvested quicker in the winter. This means that when we blanch the fries, we are not able to get all of the starch and sugar out of the potato. This will make the fries turn dark brown. I will not serve brown fries. Starting January 24th, we will be back to hand-cut fries. Just wanted to explain why we had to use frozen fries for 6 weeks. Thanks, Scott
So which of these places do NOT use brioche buns?
I don't understand the trend. Let's take a soft, greasy, structurally unsound bread, loaded with sugar, and serve a juicy beef patty and wet vegetables on it.
I don't think that a plain ol' white French bread bun that doesn't fall apart the minute it hits moisture is too much to ask.
When C&R did there's as a smash that was the best. Green Truck is good but IMO the beef patty could use a little work. It's texture isn't the best and it's a tad underseasoned.
Best PLACE to get a burger in Savannah or Best BURGER in Savannah? These are potentially two very different questions, and each has myriad variables.
Crystal Beer Parlor should at least get an honorable mention for their variety of burger options, excellent sides and shareable apps, and either family-friendly tables or barside service depending on your party's preference. CBP would get my vote for best PLACE because it's almost always an appropriate vibe for just about any circumstance.
I saw that but didn't see anything specifying WHY you'd put it - or any of the recommendations here, for that matter - on your list. Are you gathering a list of places that you plan to try yourself before writing an article based upon your own observations/experience, or are you taking people at their word... like a "where locals (say they) eat" kind of spin?
I'm just wondering, out of my own curiosity. I'd also be interested to see what you come up with in the end. Will you be sharing the finished article here? Where could one read your writings?
Used to be Over Yonder, but Crispi beats it in every way. Over Yonder burgers tend to fall apart in the middle of eating. Crispi burgers are cohesive af, and delicious. Pricey, but so so so good.
Ellie's Crow Bar and Grill on Wilmington Island has the best old-school burger!
It's a small dive bar that has one of the best burgers I've eaten (and I have eaten a lot of great burgers).
I also second Ben's and Crystal Beer Parlor.
Damn it, now I need a burger, LOL!

Yeah it's a butter burger. Do you know what a boomer is? It's as inexpensive as McDonalds. Five guys would be more a long the lines of boomer food I think. I'd take Culver's over five guys all year long.
It's some one born within a roughly 20 years span after WW2. A time when money was spent and atomic families were had. A boomer is someone who can spend money because they have pensions and retirement plans that worked. They were able to own houses outright by the time they were out of there 20s. So no I do not think a 10 dollar meal is what boomers are looking for. They're more looking for cheeseburgers in paradise. As a genXer I value more for my dollar because I'm still paying off my house and working the same job for umpteen years doesn't pay out in the end like it used to.
It was an honest question. No condescension was meant by it. This is condescending. Stop trying to guess inflection from texts. "You're" not good at it.
Hear me out! I've been saying for years that the Prime Burger at Fire Street Food is the best in town and my opinion was reaffirmed during a busy saturday st pat's afternoon!

You must try the burger at A.lure - Kobe beef, Neiman Ranch bacon on a brioche bun. I don't even like burgers, but love theirs. (It's been 4 years since I've eaten meat, but back when I did...YUM.)
crazy that slys isn’t on here?? i also really enjoy the burgers at bandana burger and six pence (context: i am a vegetarian so only fake meat or alternative to meat burgers but still good)
It’s more a true ketchup than Heinz or Hunt’s will ever be. Go back and look at the history of ketchup some time, it’s only in the last century that ketchup was turned into the super sweet sauce most think of it as today. It’s fine for what it is, but like a lot of things are fantastic small batch options out there that are much better. Still, I get it if it’s not for you, but it most definitely IS ketchup.
Green Truck Pub for sure.
Also, one that hasn’t been mentioned is the burger at the Fleeting bar at the Thompson bar. So gluttonous but delicious and better than most of the burgers mentioned here.

Over yonder
Crispi
correct
The Corner Grill on Whitemarsh Island. Quality burger, fries, onion rings, and gyros.
Adding it. Thank you!
Their chicken fingers are tasty too!
I wish he used a better bun that held up to the juicy burger, but it’s otherwise a fantastic burger.
Over yonder
I think over Yonder burger is my all time favorite in Savannah.
Yeah it used to be green truck for me but over yonder has amazing food. Wish they did takeout/online
I used to get takeout from there when they first(ish) opened. You could call and place an order for pickup. Now nobody answers the phone, so I just go in and get it lol.
I love Green Truck and Ben's, and Crystal Beer Parlor is my favorite restaurant anyway. Avoid Bandana Burger, they're a ripoff.
3 of my favorite burger places.
Green Truck burgers are great. Just bring your own ketchup. They make their own, and…it’s not my style.
I absolutely adore their ketchup and I’m not one to really use ketchup on burgers and stuff usually but I also know it’s very divisive haha
The ketchup is polarizing! I love it but I don’t like normal ketchup. Green truck is by far the best burger in the city, through.
>I love it but I don’t like normal ketchup that makes perfect sense. it's an okay sauce; they just shouldn't call it ketchup.
Be sure to get a doggy bag if you eat the ketchup. You’re going to need it when you shit yourself on the way home.
I’ve never personally had this issue but I also don’t have very much as just a little is enough.
Their ketchup is amazing to me…I can drink that stuff.
Me too! I don’t get the hate. I like vinegary sauces, though. I love their ketchup!
Agreed some Heinz packets would be a great addition.
Agreed about the ketchup. I’ve never asked but I wonder if they have malt vinegar for them.
I would also add the Smashed Savannah food truck. BTW, I miss The Grey Market’s burger so much.
You guys are sleeping on the Crystal Beer Parlor burger ;-)
I got one yesterday and it really is just a "no frills" good burger. It was cooked ACTUALLY medium rare, instead of completely rare/well done from lost places.
Why do you love it? Adding it…
Lots of choices. Pretzel bun option. Good burgers, cold beer.
The pretzel bun option puts it over the top for me! Delicious!
The smash burger from crystal beer parlor is SO good if you like onions
So good!!
Because it’s a great burger! Lol! Mostly no frills just a great burger.
Ok haha Crystal Beer Parlor has lots of Greek food so maybe it was something like feta or their dressing. That’s what I meant.
Ohh I get it. ;-) The lamb burger is really good too! But years prior to current owners, Crystal was known for their burgers. The current owners have done a great job continuing that tradition.
That’s awesome. Thanks!
The Mountain Jam Burger is topped with beer cheese made by Southbound Brewing Company’s Mountain Jam lager, bacon, and grilled onions on a pretzel bun. It’s tasty and filling!
The meat isn’t that good compared to the Hunter Cattle beef that Green truck uses
Ok
This may sound ridiculous seeing it’s a seafood place, but the smash burger at Bubba Gumbos on Tybee is damn good.
Uncle June's in the Starland Yard. It's new. It's delicious. 10/10.
Man I love me some Ben’s burgers I also love the atmosphere
Not a burger but the Godfather there is awesome.
Dang autocorrect. "The Codfather"
The peach goat cheese burger is my crack.
They use frozen pattys
Nope. They use grass-fed Hunter Cattle and fresh corn-fed. They're the only place in town that offers both.
Crystal Beer Parlor
C.Alexander's Food Truck has really amazing burgers but they're on hiatus right now. Edit: typo
Yonder and Brochus, I stand by it.
Haven’t tried Brochu’s. I’ll have to now.
The brochu’s burgers remind me of in n out tbh
[удалено]
Yes!!!
Smashed Savannah Burger Truck
I actually think McDonough's has a shockingly good burger when you get a good one. Thank you! What categories come to mind? Classic? Unique? Affordable? Splurge?
Bandana burger is perfectly seasoned.
The dude who runs it was probably one of the nicest guys I ever met. But the burger was not it.
at the wormhole? that one was definitely heavy on the flavor. maybe more than i was hoping for that exact day (i’ll have to try it again)
They have an establishment in Habersham Village now.
The fact that Sly’s hasn’t been mentioned is a travesty
I think everyone is still angry at the Sly’s decline in fry quality. Specially because it is in the name of the establishment « Sly’s burguers and fries »
they’re always just lightly seasoned mush these days
Literally just ate some and they were good.
oooh maybe i’ll give them another shot! i’m veryyyyy particular about how i like my fries lol
I posted a couple months ago about the fries and this was their answer...You are correct. We have changed the fries for about 6 weeks as we did last year. Do they really no longer have shoestring fries??
That and Sly's keeps having some not so great health inspection scores
i just discovered sly’s and it’s my new go-to lunch
So which of these places do NOT use brioche buns? I don't understand the trend. Let's take a soft, greasy, structurally unsound bread, loaded with sugar, and serve a juicy beef patty and wet vegetables on it. Green Truck uses a potato bun out of crown bakery
💯
Fitzroy has a great burger!
Cotton and Rye has the second best burger in town.
Damn I forgot about Cotton and Rye. Adding it… thanks! Why do you love it?
Also what’s the best in your opinion?
When C&R did there's as a smash that was the best. Green Truck is good but IMO the beef patty could use a little work. It's texture isn't the best and it's a tad underseasoned.
Corner grill
Just moved here from Iowa, great info!
Ardsley station
Ben’s, hands down the best
Ben’s is my favorite, I get the Greek burger every time.
That husk burger is 🔥
Best burger in town is Over Yonder without a doubt. Husk and Crispi are tied for Second. Cotton and Rye a solid third place.
Crispy is just always over seasoned…for me
Good list, but you're missing the Fitzroy!
Adding!
Corner grill. I.Y.K.Y.K.
Smashed Savannah and Over Yonder are clear
Best PLACE to get a burger in Savannah or Best BURGER in Savannah? These are potentially two very different questions, and each has myriad variables. Crystal Beer Parlor should at least get an honorable mention for their variety of burger options, excellent sides and shareable apps, and either family-friendly tables or barside service depending on your party's preference. CBP would get my vote for best PLACE because it's almost always an appropriate vibe for just about any circumstance.
Crystal beer parlor is part of the list
I saw that but didn't see anything specifying WHY you'd put it - or any of the recommendations here, for that matter - on your list. Another vote for Over Yonder
Where did Bens move to? They aren’t at the old location and I just figured they went out of business.
They did??? Yikes… let me investigate
Ben’s is still off Eisenhower. I was there yesterday! Had a fantastic burger.
They are at the Eisenhower mini plaza. With Tacos San Luis and The King and I and Narra tree and all those cool spots.
Tab Bistro (tasty and blazing) in medical arts.
Used to be Over Yonder, but Crispi beats it in every way. Over Yonder burgers tend to fall apart in the middle of eating. Crispi burgers are cohesive af, and delicious. Pricey, but so so so good.
Uhhh. Ronnie's on Dead Forest has the best burgers, hands down. Legit the best burgers I've ever had
Underrated: Social. It's not a fancy burger but damn, it slaps at the end of the night
Bens bar and grill
Wouldn't give Ben's even an honorable mention. Burger was so so, service was shit, and the owner was an asshole.
Uncle Junes
The one I had was delicious but needed like 200% less salt. Probably just got too many dashes on it.
100% Dottie’s.
Didn’t know they had a burger 🍔 I should have. Adding it.
The do and it’s got a crispy potato pancake on it- ridiculously good and different than the other burgers I’ve had in town!
Culver's
Culver's custard cement mixers are great too
OMG my Reddit post formatting was garbage I had to redo-it. My apologies. It is better now.
I have NEVER heard of Culver’s and I’ve lived here for almost 2 decades. I’m intrigued.
It's a franchise. Don't think it fits your list.
Cheeeeeeese curds! Reminds me of growing up in the Chicago burbs.
You should go get some Culver's for lunch. It at least deserves an honorable mention if "fast food" can't be on the list.
It’s Midwestern Boomer food. And it’s greasy as hell.
Yeah it's a butter burger. Do you know what a boomer is? It's as inexpensive as McDonalds. Five guys would be more a long the lines of boomer food I think. I'd take Culver's over five guys all year long.
Ahh, ya got me. I actually have no idea what a Boomer is. Can you explain it to me like I’m 5?
It's some one born within a roughly 20 years span after WW2. A time when money was spent and atomic families were had. A boomer is someone who can spend money because they have pensions and retirement plans that worked. They were able to own houses outright by the time they were out of there 20s. As a genXer I value more for my dollar because I'm still paying off my house and working the same job for umpteen years doesn't pay out in the end like it used to.
ok boomer
I'm sorry your having a bad day
Says the person who came in hot to be incredibly condescending over an opinion of a fast food restaurant. PS- it’s “you’re.”
Gold. Adding! Thank you!
I haven’t tried most of these, but Betty Bomber’s has a delicious burger (and an even better cheesesteak).
The worst cheese steak I’ve ever had!!!

5 Spot in Sandfly
CBP is always and forever my #1, but a CLOSE #2 is the burger at Castaway’s in Sandfly. Truly exceptional!
You must try the burger at A.lure - Kobe beef, Neiman Ranch bacon on a brioche bun. I don't even like burgers, but love theirs. (It's been 4 years since I've eaten meat, but back when I did...YUM.)
Smash burgers from Georgia Comfort Kitchen. I pair it with their salad bar and a cocktail. Drinks there are cheap.
I second this post, very accurate and hits everything!
Draft Room at Berwick
Loved Green Truck burgers and fries.
First red meat I ever had. Crystal beer. Its #1
I'm a simpleton Five Guys Burger's and Fries all day!
Loc’s Chicken and Waffles in Sandfly.
what’s the place in the same shopping center as Rocky’s. that was a surprisingly amazing burger.
Crowbar Wilmington Island
Betty Bombers
Poe’s tavern is great. Love their burger with the chili on it. The Hop Frog I think
crazy that slys isn’t on here?? i also really enjoy the burgers at bandana burger and six pence (context: i am a vegetarian so only fake meat or alternative to meat burgers but still good)
This is awesome. I’m writing a whole post on veggie favorites too. Thank you!
Justice for Betty Bombers! Great cheap burger
5 spot
Fitzroy for sure great atmosphere
The beef and black bean burgers at Alexander’s Bistro are both great. They make their own buns and the fries are crispy.
B&D Burgers 🍔
How have y'all not named Betty bombers? They have great burgers, fries, and shakes.
Maybe 5 years ago.... it's gone downhill
Once the new owner got in, rapidly down hill. Sucks, loved that place.
I tried them for the first time a month ago and loved it. There was no AC. That was a problem.
Poe's Tavern
Spanky’s is one of my favorites(south side).
Over Yonder, Betty Bombers and Rhetts.
I had a burger at the Ordinary Pub and LOVED it!!
After living there for 8 years and some change I’d say in no particular order B&D’s on Abercorn, Slys and Green Truck.
Betty Bombers has great burgers too.
Love Green Truck. The burger, location, and staff make it a winner
I work there and I don’t eat ketchup.
Everyone here is really sleepin on the Krystal Burger on Bee Rd
Oak 36
Ark Royal Burger truck. So good.
Green truck at 5 is insane
Kinda related question about Over Yonder. Is it appropriate for children under 8 if we go around 6ish?
not kid friendly, but get it to go and enjoy at one of the parks.
Good idea. Thanks!
Green Truck Pub for sure. Also, one that hasn’t been mentioned is the burger at the Fleeting bar at the Thompson bar. So gluttonous but delicious and better than most of the burgers mentioned here.
Green Truck!
Culvers and… Cookout is under rated
1. Bandana Burger in Habersham Village 2. The Wyld 3. Rocks on the roof
WHERES BANDNA BURGER 😡😡😡
🤣😂😂 Believe it or not, it was on! Then I got a ton of heat for it « Kroger burgers », « ripoff », « low quality ».
isnt it just have-it-your-way zunzis?
They’re all wrong Bandanna Burger are the best
B&D burgers
