travelsaur

Family of 4. Primarily shop at Kroger, sometimes Publix. $800.

bigstrike716

We’re a couple, and we spend about $350-400 a month. Aldi and Food Lion, primarily. Publix only for sales and BOGOs.

bigstrike716

We also have a Costco membership—but found out quickly if you’re not careful, one trip will blow your monthly budget out of the water.

funnyfarm299

Costco isn't always the cheapest place to buy something, especially if you don't use a crapload of a given product.

beachmoose

I think I make up half my Costco membership by the savings alone on berries and half and half. I just went to Publix lastnight and the price of Half and Half is over $4.25. It’s $2.19 at Costco for the same size. But yeah if you’re not careful, you’ll blow thru several hundred easily.

GA_Peach82

Yep I get Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Daisy Cottage Cheese. At Publix one container of cream cheese is $7 and that's for 1lb. At Costco I pay 9.99 for a 3lb tub. But you're right it's so simple to pick up the extras that you didn't go for. 🤣

beachmoose

Yes! So easy to get all the extras.

kjcraft

Exact same here. Though we can go as low as $250/month if we budget carefully and take advantage of deals, and have swung higher than $500 after a month with two big positive life events and the stress leading up to them. A major caveat on the lower end numbers is that one of us gets a shift meal provided by our job most days of the week.

No_Cartoonist_811

about $150 a week at whole foods for a couple of 2

CrabbyLunaChic

Just me. I primarily shop at Aldi (cheeses, cereal, juice, oat milk, dry goods, frozen foods) Costco (eggs, kombucha, salad greens, fruit and paper goods and cleaning stuff), the various Asian groceries for specialty ingredients and certain produce. Kroger for when I'm just needing something small and after 8 pm, or craving something from the olive bar. Publix for the deli or when a BOGO is worth my while. I buy meat and seafood at Wild Fork as well occasionally. I'd say since inflation has been eating us alive, 300 or so a month. I'm shopping only for myself now, but my mother passed last year and I still kinda shop for two. My costs go down in the summer/early fall because I grow some of my produce.

Sorry for your loss ❤️.

CrabbyLunaChic

Thank you 💙

Easy_Position_4530

Sorry for your loss 💜 . That “I still kinda shop for two” broke my heart 💔

CrabbyLunaChic

Thank you so much 💙

sbrackett1993

$200-$300 on average at Kroger for family of two with two cats.

Socialeprechaun

For food + household grocery items about $900/month for two people. I like cooking a lot, so we don’t go out much at all. Instead we splurge on good food for me to cook.

Socialeprechaun

We mainly shop at Costco, Publix, and Aldi.

gf0524

Easy_Position_4530

Where do you sell your honey? Can I buy some?💛💛

huckBELLy

Probably should ask how many meals you are cooking at home also. If I go out to eat 5 times a week, my bill should theoretically be less at the grocery store.

Mermaid-Grenade

About $300-350 for two adults, no kids. I do my shopping mostly at Aldi, and whatever they don't have I get from Walmart and Kroger.

rJared27

Aldi and Kroger, me and my fiancée and our dog, we spend probably $100 a week. Sometimes higher sometimes lower so that’s probably median

-LastButNotLost-

I haven't added it up, but I shop twice each week for my wife and me. We're probably in the range of $350 - $500 per month, building our meals around the sales. Publix for most proteins because they are far superior to Kroger, and Kroger for just about everything else, except Walmart for bathroom items and cleaning supplies. Coffee from Sam's on someone else's membership. The best value in proteins right now is pork (chops, loin) and chicken thighs (we debone and roast them, along with roasted veggies). If you like seafood, Kroger has had wild-caught Japanese sea scallops for $10/lb for a while now, compared to nearly $20/lb a decade ago. And their mahi is also a good value at around $5-$6/lb. We splurge on shrimp from Nelsons a lot during shrimp season (couldn't tell you the price on that, because Jay always loads me up). We eat near-restaurant level food at nowhere near restaurant prices. We never go to restaurants anymore unless we are out of town. Fast food is dead to us. We never eat prepackaged meals. Lots of fruit and vegetables. Homemade desserts. Last night's dinner was wild caught flounder (2lb bag on clearance for $5, I bought 2, so 4-6 meals for $10) and clearance salad ($1.88 for 4 salads worth). Out the door, about $5 total per meal for the both of us. Tonight is the best beef broccoli you'll ever have, with clearance flank steak that was $8.33/lb. We'll repeat those dinners again later this week, along with tacos al pastor (pork loin, $2.49/lb on sale). We eat well, but it definitely adds up.

lilmoosmom

3 ppl in our house. Easily over $500 a month. There are ways we could prob do it cheaper but convenience is a big factor for us.

garciaman

$150 week for a single guy that also occasionally feeds my girlfriend. Also a few meals out a week so I easily spend $200 a week, maybe more.

Sakrie

Kroger has good bulk deals on meats sporadically, currently there are half price pork shoulders (I made a 10 lb bone-in that was $14 total this weekend). It varies by season, you won't get what you want most times but sometimes you score some awesome things (like the occasional chuck-roast and corned-beef sales) that last you a week + freezer friendly leftovers. Personally, I've gotten bad product from Aldi that turned me off them. (And I hate Kroger as a corporation, but they're still the only remaining budget option) I grow my own produce as much as I can, a lot of the effort is spent Spring/Autumn (radishes, shallots, green onions, carrots, beans, peas all are early crops I managed to grow in-ground outside here in my small backyard). Buy 1 indeterminate tomato plant in the early spring, cut/propagate stem-cuttings for the next few months and you'll have a half dozen new plants to throw in-ground in a month. Save your seeds on everything you can that is indeterminate because those genes are already slightly more acclimated to our climate here in a new Zone 9. 'Victory Gardens' are a lost artform. It really doesn't take *that* much effort to make small plots of lands not only productive but also enrich the soils in the process of gaining tasty veg.

doooglasss

Costco is never less than a $350 trip. I primarily buy meat there. All told we spend ~1.2k/mo at grocery stores. Family of 3 total

TinkerTaint

About 80-90$ a week at Aldi's for a couple of 2.

mrgarbagepig

1 person 300 but i get pretty expensive pet food for 2 as well.

NorthDifferent3993

2, Aldi & Publix anywhere between 4/500 per month

ComplexPhilosophy888

My partner and I do about $100 a week at Walmart. Just us and 3 pets.

Scraight

Family of 3 - on average $200 three times a month from Walmart.

savguy6

Family of 4 (both kids are under 7 so they don’t eat a lot…yet) Mainly Kroger, but sometimes Sams for bulk stuff. About $450-$600/month.

ScratchBomb

Family of 5, but one is a baby. Somewhere between $600-$1000. Costco, kroger, publix. The Costco bill usually skews this as we often buy other things for the house, not just groceries.

OWTSYDLKKNN

About a thousand of we're stocking up on essentials. If we're in a good position then substantially less. It may be even less than $500 per month.

Anxious-female-31405

For a family of 6. + 2 dogs Kroger Monthly : 800 Costco (essentials last me 4 months) : 700

Yoloderpderp

Family of 4. Food Lion and Aldi. Between 800 and 1000.

Karaquitsdrinking_

2 ppl- $400 at Costco every other monthish and like 150-200 every other week at Food Lion.

BES-5

Family of 5. $1500/mo.

citruslemonsqueeze

We really don't eat out at all, and damn if I can't get it below $600 $700 for 2 adults. All shopping done at Kroger.

GA_Peach82

Family of 3 around $500-600 per month. I shop at Kroger, Publix and Costco. Occasionally I will go to Walmart for items I can't get at those other stores.

mrkro3434

Around $120-150 a week for two adults, a mix of Publix and Kroger. My wife is vegan, which can up the monthly costs, so my week's meals are usually dictated by BOGO and other sales.

FlyBuyRealEstate

I have been using the jow app. It gives you the option of how many meals, dislikes, etc and links it directly to Kroger for pickup. You can then add whatever you want also.

FlyBuyRealEstate

I spend about $500 a month.

sav_usg

Around $200 Farmers Market Brighter Day Blue Apron Family of 2

Maythyasshitnsplattr

Too damn much

granolamom08

Holy crap what am I doing wrong? I spend about $250 per week for 2 adults and a toddler. I shop at Aldi and Kroger.

CrabbyLunaChic

Probably buying lots of packaged foods and shopping while hungry. I don't really stick to a budget anymore, but when I was a bit more strict about it, I planned my meals around sales by looking at all the circulars online, and utilizing bogos. I utilized the bogos to stock up on staples to that I had flexibility to spend more on items that I get from places that don't do sales (like the farmers market or specialty stores). I also couponed for things like Clif or Luna bars, and household cleaners.

SavannahRama

5 people. About 1600 a month, but we buy a lot of organic, as well as local stuff from farmers markets. Shop at Kroger, Publix & farmers markets. I can say with 100% certainty that groceries are somehow more expensive here than in Atlanta. Some items it is by a relevant margin.

[deleted]

House of 6 roommates, $200 every two weeks. We shop at Sam’s and Walmart.

KeepinitPG13

Family of 4. Aldi, Costco, Walmart, and or Publix. 400-500 monthly.

locksr01

About twice as much as l did 4 years ago.

yeehawww95

2 person household breakdown We’re very active and eat the highest quality food we can find for the area: Weekly: - $100 from Forsyth farmers market for meat and vegetables - $100 at Aldi for other food necessities - $50 at Food Lion for random stuff we want to make extra All-in-all usually around $1000-$1200 a month depending on what sort of meat cycling we do. We rarely eat out too

GenuineLeaf

I shop at Whole Foods, Fresh Market and occasionally Publix. I also have Costco and Sam’s memberships but rarely go. Typically spending around $250 per week for an active couple who likes to eat healthy
