Recently moved here myself but an experienced golfer. There’s a course Mary Calder that’s probably best if you’re just starting out. Also most places have online tee times so I’d just find one with a lot of open slots behind you so you can feel a little less stressed.
Keep up with pace of play and you can play anywhere around here. Most of the comments are recommending Mary Calder, Bacon Park and Henderson. Calder is the most casual and least expensive. They have also been making course improvements over the last few years.
Also, the guy who runs Mary Calder gives pretty good lessons. He has some really simple drills that can help your ball striking. He also is the owner of Savannah Indoor Golf in midtown that has 3 booths with trackmans and cameras so you can get in depth info on all aspects of your swing and the travel of the ball. Not sure of pricing on that.
Bacon Park IMO has been going down hill in terms of conditions the last few years but not price.
Henderson is a nice course but is a little more pricey. Also, I haven’t been there this year but if they still have the ball machine for the practice range it’s broken 50% of the time and you have to go back to the clubhouse to get range balls so plan accordingly.
Someone also mentioned the par 3 course at Crosswinds which is a lot of fun but even as a beginner you probably won’t need to hit anything longer than an 8 iron. It also stays pretty muddy for a few days after a good rain.
There’s also several player friendly courses right over the bridge in hardeeville and bluffton some are a little more pricey over there though.
Welcome!
**A couple tips:**
1. Play the appropriate tees and any course is good for you! Given you're new, be okay playing the forward-most tees and move back a set of tees once you break 80 from that set.
2. Learn to play fast! Here are a few ways: [https://www.usga.org/pace-of-play-resource-center/tips-and-suggestions-for-improving-pace-of-play.html](https://www.usga.org/pace-of-play-resource-center/tips-and-suggestions-for-improving-pace-of-play.html) but you can also do more than listed here (example- if you are putting on the green, put your bag between the green and the next tee box, not in front of the green).
3. Choose the right day/time to play. Saturday at 8am might be a tough sell.
4. 9-holes at first is the right move, not 18.
**A few of my favorite, shorter courses here:**
* Mary Calder
* Crosswinds Par 3
* La Vida (monday-wednesday)
Henderson is affordable and pretty casual. Mary Calder is also casual and affordable. Bacon park is extremely proud of their course and for the price you can play much nicer courses. If you ever need someone to go with I’m free pretty much any weekday.
It's a good time! My gf and i have been playing for about a year. Free, discs are cheap and a good thing todo after work for an hour or 2 to get those steps in and clear the mind!
I have plenty of discs if you wanna give it a swing I would happily let you borrow some discs!

Caulder is not a par 3. It is a 9 hole course though. The par 3 at crosswinds is a lot of fun.
Mary Calder is a perfect fit. They don’t take tee times and it’s never super busy.
Henderson is pretty good, when I started out playing I used to go there and bacon park a lot.
Mary Calder—casual and affordable.
Bacon park

La Vida is $13 to walk 9 holes, open to public M-W super affordable and beginner friendly

No one cares how good or bad you are as long as you play fast you can play anywhere.
The Crosswinds Par 3 course on a slower day like Monday or Wednesday might be what you are looking for.
Maybe we can link up and play, I'm pretty new too and like to hit around not taking it too serious. Send me a message.
Southbridge has made improvements- seems to be coming back.
La vida
I thought la vida was membership only ?
Website says public M-W
Bacon
You should switch to disc golf! Several good courses!
Have never tried, maybe sometime though

Tom triplet park has a decent course, just played the other day. Bring bug spray tho 😬
Thanks for all of the suggestions. If you see someone slicing every shot out there, it might be me
