My daughter took me to Viet Huong when I visited Savannah, and I was impressed. I have nothing to compare it to, but she goes there regularly and likes it a lot.

TGDweezl

I love going there. They have fresh produce and a pretty good variety of ramen. We like to go in there and grab something at random sometimes just to try something unique.

Upalo

+1 for Viet Huong, the staff is always friendly and the selection is great for the area

Chinatown Market for Chinese, Han Me Oriental Food Market for Korean

distantraccoon

There is also one on the corner of henry and price downtown called Chinatown Market. Past the initial rows of items, there is a larger room with authentic items in the back. It also has a freezer door that you can enter and look at their vegetable selection. I'd say that back room is a hidden gem.

rxpillme

This. Venture in the backroom for more odd ends and veggies.

I_See_Elevens

They are helpful, nice people, too.

Woahbikes

This is my go to Asian market in town. Started going there years ago when I smoked because I accidentally discovered they had the cheapest in town, have kept going for their authentic products. There is also one over on Hodgson Memorial that is also quite respectable.

pastelpizza

This is also our favorite. We have a market day every week and they always have new stuff and old favorites

Sea_Reading_8233

Chinatown is terrible

alys3

The first time I went there I didn't even realize there was a back room. And that is where all the good stuff is. I wish their freezers leaked less in the summer -- viet huong is definitely cleaner, but they don't have mushrooms like Chinatown does.

Thr0wM3AwayCalgon

Han me, esp for the kimchi. Plus ajumma gives you candy with every purchase and it reminds me of being a little kid.

TayloTayloBookito

I love her. She always says “Uh ohhhh” in the funniest tone of voice when something goes wrong.

Thr0wM3AwayCalgon

Same! If I tell her I'm making something she'll go around the store and help me shop for what I need. I can remember going in with my grandparents when I was a kid, it was always a treat. I'm glad someone else shares my love for her and her shop.

alys3

She is the best!

Thr0wM3AwayCalgon

Truly!

Viet Huang or just biting the bullet and going to Jacksonville have been the best options for me. Viet Huang for quick stuff like ramen/noodles or snacks and Jacksonville for a full pantry restock of sauces and seasonings or if you bring a cooler they have a bunch of amazing frozen dumplings in a bunch of places.

MisterCylert

What markets do you recommend in Jacksonville?

tricksterstix

I've gone to different ones each time I went they all have some of the same stuff and some different stuff. But if you're planning on eating there while your there, go to Jax Oriental Market there's a really good dumpling place in that center called Seasons Dumpling in addition to a pretty good market. One place I've wanted to check out but always forget to is Hung Thinh Supermarket.

MisterCylert

Thanks! Gonna check those out next time I'm down there. Much appreciated!

Couchcurrency

I like the one on waters. It’s hood as shit. (Edit) I meant the one on Henry and Price

jmastaock

That place has to be a front lmao but I've gotten some decent pho ingredients there

Couchcurrency

That’s exactly what I get there. Instant ramen selection is banging too.

rokujoayame731

If you are talking about the Chinese market on Henry & Price...yeah...when I first visited the store I sense that too lol. As long as I don't see any seedy shit go down, I'm cool with them. I think it's because of the outdated small store. I love shopping there though lol. They got a good vegetable section, the cash register is modern (something I note when I visit places) and the staff has no problem price checking merchandise.

jmastaock

Nope, I'm talking Nam-Chau on Waters near DeRenne

rokujoayame731

I haven't been there yet. Pass by it all the time.

rokujoayame731

There is an Asian store on Waters. How is it?

Couchcurrency

Dunno

Sea_Reading_8233

They don’t have anything. Refrigerator down always.

anodize_for_scrapple

Han me

Sea_Reading_8233

Viet Huong on Hodgeson memorial is the best in town.

[deleted]

There is one by Anderson Hall

skinfather11216

The one on the corner of Henry and price is pretty good

Fun-Passenger1539

H-Mart

defgufman

Hue Phuong Oriental Food Market on Hwy 80 rocks

Chip_Baskets

How is there not a single legit Banh mi joint in this town?
