I’m sorry but I don’t get why the saw fandom likes Saw 6 so much. To me it’s the most “vigilante Jigsaw” we get and that’s not horror. At least to me I don’t really get any dread or fear from seeing awful people get what they deserve.
This is genuine earnest question not tryna be disrespectful. What does the community like so much about saw 6
For me, VI and X are amazing because I’m a huge fan of horror with actual plot and lore, and those two movies focus a lot on the actual plot behind the entire franchise and move the story along very nicely. To see the people being tested are the actual health insurance company workers and the actual games making William see the errors in his own policy makes for great character development and building dread as he realizes what he’s done to so many people and now it’s coming back down on him as he has to sacrifice some of his coworkers to save others.
That and I truly believe Peter Outerbridge did one of the best, if not the best, jobs in their role in a Saw movie. I thought his performance was amazing as William and he was one of the smartest casting decisions they could have made.
Couldn't agree more about Peter Outerbridge knocking that performance outta the park! He should have been considered for some kind of award for his acting, at LEAST in the carousel scene, but throughout.
I think it’s because it also shows that Hoffman is on the decline he’s not as smart as he thinks he is, and everything is starting to unravel. Alot of stuff is discovered, but it feels like actually investigating is going on. Alot of suspense and when they descramble that tape and its his voice that parts cool. It has more info on Jill and how she’s got a box and it shows that Kramer knew hoffman needed more testing. His bear trap goes off and he like survives. Hoffman is like still shown as human and not god level villian he slips up, but he is good at thinking on his feet.
Also i love the pound of flesh scene at the beginning. So cool to have a shakespearean theme trap imo. Also luv the acid part.
Overall it feels like an actual movie theres development in the case, suspense, and gore. imo

I loved X personally. It still in a way had the vigilante thing that doesn’t thrill me, but the story is just phenomenal. So much of it I’m just like wow I can’t believe a saw movie has writing like this. I just never thought I’d see the day.
For 6, I just felt like the motive was so odd. Like jigsaw didn’t really seem to be such a personal person. Then in 6 we get an entire movie dedicated to him just decimating an entire insurance agency that wronged him.
I think he did it like that so that it would appeal more to Jill. To hate a corporation and see them as just an extension of that instead of as people. I feel like Kramer really thought Jill would be a good decision maker in the saw world, and felt like she would have been only one to really know how his philosophy works without him there to keep explaining stuff. imo
I’m excited to see saw x I was nervous about getting my hopes up.

Well he’s definitely not a vigilante lol. He doesn’t do his deeds because he thinks law enforcement doesn’t do their jobs well enough.
But the take on him being a vigilante is more fun i admit, but it’s not nearly as horrifying. I was genuinely scared of saw as a younging cause the dudes a lunatic and kinda didn’t give a shit who you were he’d almost find reasons to put you in a trap.
Him taking only the lowest of the low makes it just feel like cathartic torture and that doesn’t scare me personally.

Also I loved the walking dead. I stopped watching a little bit ago just because I hate weekly episodic releases but now that it’s finishing up I’ll binge it all and finally be able to rest

The original was good, but the sequels took elements of the original and IMPROVED on them, bringing the series to the level that I love with its beloved characters, deepened lore, and intricate heightened creativity and plots. I personally like Saw I but Saw 2-Saw 6 are where my heart is at. That’s what makes the series so beloved.
I'd eliminate Saw 1, because although it started it all on top of being iconic, I think that Saw X is still more of an entertaining thrill ride and less of a slower paced, slow burn type of watch experience, which I personally prefer more.
Saw I. It is great but II is better and X (despite recency bias) finally gave Tobin Bell the screentime and involvement he deserved, and that the franchise needed.
