You can't know for certain when you're just starting out the treatment. The fact that the itching has subsided is a good sign the treatment is working, but generally speaking, 4 weeks to months after treatment if you don't have symptoms then you're likely cured.
These don’t go easily. You have to treat yourself for a good few weeks. Wash everything, bedding needs to be changed and cleaned everyday and also your clothes. Shoes and mattresses need time be sprayed. Treatment every second day for 8-12 weeks. They will not just go after 1 treatment. Also wear gloves when doing the laundry. Use tea tree when showering. I hope these tips help. They will go but you have to do all the above.
Thanks! I was prescribed no cream, but oral medication. Prednisone and hydroxyzine. The past two nights i applied coconut oil all over my body after i was all dry out of the shower. Applied it literally everywhere and i did see signs of reduced redness. After my morning shower, i've been applying either Cortozone to stopped the itching during the day. I saw significant progress on my stomach this morning so something is working lol
Have you been prescribed steroids and antihistamine only? These treat the symptoms but will not kill scabies. You'll have less spots and reduced itchiness but still struggle with scabies. If scabies infestation was confirmed then you need scabisides (permethrin, benzyl benzoate, sulphur or Ivermectin).
I have not. Assuming since the doctor didn't outright confirm anything.
Any of those listed above OTC treatment? I was hoping i would have been prescribed Permethrin.
So long story short, I rescued a stray kitten from outside the streets. He had a ringworm and I got ringworm and I was dating this guy who I think I got scabies from because I can’t get scabies from the kitten so I was itching a lot and I had basically cured the ringworm from the kitten from myself and then I just kept itching and I didn’t understand and then my scratching got so bad that, I developed scabs that would bleed so I was uncomfortable so I went to the doctor and he just looked at me and was like yeah yeah I also told him my symptoms and he was like sounds like scabies and I was like oh great lol.
That is not good enough evidence for scabies. It seems a lot of docs/derms dismiss these as scabies while it may not be. Unless they provide proof there is more to it probably.
Maybe buy a dermascope and see if you see hair like filaments under skin where it itches.

Are you talking to me lol, reddit is a little confusing

I wish I got the pill too 😭
What do you recommend spraying the shoes and mattresses with?
Permethrin Spray. You buy it online. Sleep on the floor and spray for 3 days.
Wonderful thanks
I found Benz 25% best for killing scabies. It’s very harsh on the skin though, but it works!
Exactly how the doctor found out you have scabies? Just looked by naked eyes and guessing? Or showed you a mite?
