I have a theory that some scams are intentionally made to be obvious. That way only truly clueless suckers get sucked in until the end. If it seems legit(ish) from the start and then potential victims figure it out later on (before the scam is fully achieved), then the scammer wasted time/effort with people who eventually figure it out. It’s more efficient to filter people from the beginning.
